  • Statement of problem: Repeated delivery and removal of abutment cause some changes such as wear, scratch or defect of hexagonal structure. It may increase the value of rotational freedom(RF) between hexagonal structures. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate surface changes and rotational freedom between the external hexagon of the implant fixture and internal hexagon of abutment after repeated delivery and removal under SEM and toolmaker's microscope. Materials and methods: Implant systems used for this study were 3i and Avana. Seven pail's of implant fixture, abutment and abutment screws for each system were selected and all fixtures were perpendicularly mounted in liquid unsaturated polyesther with dental surveyor. Each one was embedded beneath the platform of fixture. Surfaces of hexagonal structure before repeated closing and opening of abutment were observed using SEM and rotational freedom was measured by using toolmaker's microscope. Each abutment was secured to the implant future by each abutment screw with recommended torque value using a digital torque controller and was repeatedly delivered and removed by 20 times respectively. After experiment, evaluation for the change of hexagonal structures and measurement of rotational freedom were performed. Result : The results were as follows; 1. Wear of contact area between implant fixture and abutment was considerable in both 3i and Avana system. Scratches and defects were frequently observed at the line-angle of hexagonal structures of implant fixture and abutment. 2. In the SEM view of the external hexagon of implant fixture, the point-angle areas at the corner edge of hexagon were severely worn out in both systems. It was more notable in the case of 3i systems than in that of Avana systems. 3. In the SEM view of the internal hexagon of abutment, Gingi-Hue abutment of 3i systems showed severe wear in micro-stop contacts that were machined into the corners to prevent rotation and cemented abutment of Avana systems showed wear in both surface area adjacent to the corner mating with external hexagon of implant fixture. 4 The mean values of rotational freedom between the external hexagon of the implant fixture and internal hexagon of abutment were 0.48$\pm$0.04$^{\circ}$ in pre-tested 3i systems and 1.18$\pm$0.25$^{\circ}$ after test, and 1.80$\pm$0.04$^{\circ}$ in pre-tested Avana systems and 2.61$\pm$0.16$^{\circ}$ after test. 5. Changes of rotational freedom after test shouted statistical)y a significant increase in both 3i and Avana systems(P<0.05, paired t-test). 6. Statistically, there was no significant difference between amount of increase in the rotational freedom of 3i systems and amount of increase in that of Avana ones(P>0.05, unpaired t-test). Conclusion: Conclusively, it was considered that repeated delivery and remove of abutment by 20 times would not have influence on screw joint stability. However, it caused statistically the significant change of rotational freedom in tested systems. Therefore, it is suggested that repeated delivery and remove of abutment should be minimal as possible as it could be and be done carefully Additionally, it is suggested that the means or treatment to prevent the wear of mating components should be devised.

  • The traditional image of hydraulic excavator started to change in two ways since 1990. First, post-heavy equipment's visual image was new waves to traditional image of heavy, strong, and wild. They are the negative aspect that excavators have. Another movement of getting rid of its negative image can be found in late-heavy equipment, which was intended to adapt traditional and positive, but off negative images. In 1990s, the design trend is moving from warm/hard to warm/soft, and KOBELCO can be exceptional example that went even further, gone up to cool-soft image. KOBELCO specially aimed 'post- excavator image' strategy, which has been successful. Image of cabin as a human space changed little bit further than outside image. Each company tried to differentiate the design of cabin focusing on its safety. Following paragraphs show specific trend of image change in form, colour, texture, and the composition. Major visual image change in form tries to follow the image of cars and home appliances which are showing the movement from tough and hard image to soft one. Structural change on local image shows the movement from angular edge to edgeless and the movement of cabin's pillar C placed to back of the equipment with gentle inclination. All of these movements are the result of effort to improve traditional excavator's negative image, that top structure is assembled separately, to positive ones. Today's tendency about its color becomes important to apply two different colour styles. Each style has brightness and tone comparison. As an enormous power convey system, it was in common that its brightness comparison was useful because of the alarm of its damage possibility. However, as its colour control and its design have been emphasized gradually, the tone comparison takes a part in an important role, too. As an example, there is an occasion that these comparisons are compromised simultaneously. In the respect of its image creation, its texture treatments make the tendency of being the same as passenger cars. It is caused from its development of the manufacture techniques of from the fabrication method in small business to the press method in big firm. Further, it is also because of its improvement of painting & coating skills. It may prohibit the reflection effect from solar rays. In the point of view of its visual images, it is recognized the prominent tendency that its composition has been gradually decreased. Lots of windows and the frames tends dark-colour as a whole. It is more preferred to have one colour image, but except KOBELCO and HITACHI. As well, there is another high-tendency to improve its standard treatments, especially for its corner and texture treatments.

  • Recently, many 3D contents have been produced through the multiview camera system. In this system, since a difference of the viewpoint between color and depth cameras is inevitable, the camera parameter plays the important role to adjust the viewpoint as a preprocessing step. The conventional camera calibration method is inconvenient to users since we need to choose pattern features manually after capturing a planar chessboard with various poses. Therefore, we propose a semi-auto camera calibration method using a circular sampling and an homography estimation. Firstly, The proposed method extracts the candidates of the pattern features from the images by FAST corner detector. Next, we reduce the amount of the candidates by the circular sampling and obtain the complete point cloud by the homography estimation. Lastly, we compute the accurate position having the sub-pixel accuracy of the pattern features by the approximation of the hyper parabola surface. We investigated which factor affects the result of the pattern feature detection at each step. Compared to the conventional method, we found the proposed method released the inconvenience of the manual operation but maintained the accuracy of the camera parameters.

  • It was used boundary element method(BEM) and analysed axisymmetric problem to solve hydraulic cylinder for large vessel acting uniform internal pressure(25N/m super(2)) within elastic limit. This paper was utilized the carbon steel tubes for machine structural purposed model, inner radius was 150mm and outer radius was 250mm, axial length was semi-infinite and the isoparametric element was used. The important results obtained in this study were summarized as follows. Radial, tangential and shearing stress occured the maximum stresses(48, -20 and 34MPa) at the inner radius and the minimum stresses(32, -4 and 18MPa) at the outer radius of the hydraulic cylinder for large vessel. But negative signs have meaning compressive stress and stress diminution ratio was about 0.15MPa/mm. The use of isoparametric element raised accuracy and the increment of input data lessened the error in internal point but computer run-time was increased. The double node was improved the internal solutions to settle discontinuity at corner and the double exponential formula lessened error of stress value at boundary neighborhood. And then coincidence between the analytical and exact results is found to be fairly good, showing that the proposed analytical by BEM is reliable.

  • Restorative procedures can lead to tooth fracture due to the relatively small amount of the remaining tooth structure. It is essential to prevent fractures by having a clear concept of the designs for cavity preparations. Among the several parameters in cavity designs, profound understanding of isthmus width factor would facilitate selection of the appropriate cavity preparation for a specific clinical situation. In this study, MO amalgam cavity were prepared on maxillary first premolar and filled with amalgam. Three dimensional, model with 1365 8-node brick elements was made by serial photographic method. In this model, isthmus was varied in width at 1/4, 1/3, 1/2 and 2/3 of intercuspal width and material properties were given for three element groups, i.e., enamel, dentin and amalgam. A load of 500 N was applied vertically on amalgam and enamel. In case of enamel loading, 2 model (with and without amalgam) was compared to consider the possibility of play at the interface between tooth material and amalgam. These models were analyzed with three dimensional finite element method. The results were as follows: 1. The stress was concentrated on the facio-pulpal line angle and distal marginal ridge of the cavity. 2. With the increase of the isthmus width, the stress spread around the facio-pulpal line angle and the area of stress concentration moved toward the proximal box. 3. In case of narrow isthmus width, the initiation point of crack would be in the area of isthmus corner of the cavity, and with the increase of the isthmus width, it would move toward the proximal box and at the same time the possibility of crack increase at the distal marginal ridge. 4. The direction of crack progressed outward and downward from the facio-pulpal line angle, and with the increase of the isthmus width, it approximated vertical direction. At the marginal ridge, it occurred in vertical direction. 5. It would be favorable to make the isthmus width narrower than a third of the intercuspal width, and to cover the cusp if isthmus width were wider than half of the intercuspal width. 6. It is necessary to apply the possibility of play to the finite element analysis.

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of excessive occlusal loading on stress distribution on four type of cervical lesion, using a three dimensional finite element analysis (3D FEA). The extracted maxillary second premolar was scanned serially with Micro-CT. The 3D images were processed by 3D-DOCTOR. ANSYS was used to mesh and analyze 3D FE model. Four different lesion configurations representative of the various types observed clinically for teeth were studied. A static point load of 500N was applied to the buccal and lingual cusp (Load A and B). The principal stresses in lesion apex, and vertical sectioned margin of cervical wall were analyzed. The results were as follows 1. The patterns of stress distribution were similar but the magnitude was different in four types of lesion 2. The peak stress was observed at mesial corner and also stresses concentrated at lesion apex. 3. The compressive stress under load A and the tensile stress under load B were dominant stress. 4. Under the load, lesion can be increased and harmful to tooth structure unless restored.

  • In this study, the characteristics of support behavior according to the change of ground condition of the cast-in-place pile and the large Caisson foundation, which are increasingly used as foundations of large structures and bridges. the allowable bearing capacity calculated using the yield load analysis method was analyzed to calculate similar allowable bearing capacity for each method. In addition, the allowable bearing capacity calculated by the ultimate load analysis method was found to have a large difference in bearing capacity for each method. Through this point, it can be usefully used as an empirical formula for evaluating the settlement characteristics of piles in future design and construction. In addition, as a result of examining the ground force distribution during sedimentation of large caissons, the section of the weathered rock layer showed almost constant ground force distribution as ground forces decreased after yield occurred at the base corner. And in the bed rock layer section, the foundation's center was transformed into a ground force in the form of a convex downward due to an increase in the ground resistance of the central part. Using these results, the theory previously presented by Fang (1991) and Kőgler (1936) was proved.

  • Humans process aesthetic functions of objects such as form, size, color, and texture through vision, while at the same time observe them with a symbolic function by a new psychological interpretation based on their past experience. Therefore, it is more important to study and understand the thoughts and psychological influences of how humans perceive with their eyes than what humans simply look with them. With this research purpose in the background, this study will demonstrate in detail the cognitive characteristics of analog and digital images as a symbolic function with a "formative" point of view. Five hypotheses were established, which were proven through the following tests: smartphone, most frequently used in our daily lives, is simplified to a two-dimensional line drawing form, which is set to instances where the R(radius) is applied to the horizontal line of the two-dimensional form of smartphone, where Run-in-R(radius) is applied, and R(radius) rounding is applied to the edges of those shapes. The shapes were combined to form 12 pairs, which was used in a test to the test subjects. As a result, some human characteristics were observed; in specific, some helped prove objectively how humans perceived analog and digital images as psychologically stronger as a symbolic function. If people's thoughts and feelings gained through such study could be stored in database as one value and be provided to product designers, I believe it could be developed into design form as a basic emotional design that consumers desire.

  • BACKGROUND: Water-born pollution loads by agricultural non-point source (NPS) pollution are expected to become intensified due to ongoing precipitation change. Therefore, it is essential to develop a best management practice (BMP) that is suitable to agricultural environments in Korea. This study aimed to develop an environmental-friendly BMP to reduce NPS pollution load by agricultural activities. An eco-friendly way, small drainage pond, was suggested in this study to avoid direct drainage of agricultural runoffs and eventually reduce the amount of pollutants discharged into the surrounding aqua-environment. METHODS AND RESULTS: A small pond ($12m^2$) was constructed at the corner of a rice paddy field ($1,715m^2$) located in Suwon, Korea. Water was allowed to drain only via a small drainage pond. Sampling was repeatedly made at two locations, one from an entrance and the other from an exit of a pond, during the rice cultivation period (May to October, 2012). Generally, sampling was made only when runoff water drained through a pond, such as during and/or after rain (irrigation). The water quality analysis showed that all quality parameters (SS, $COD_{Mn}$, T-N, and T-P) were improved as water passed through the pond. The amount of runoff water was reduced by 96~100%. Suspended solids and COD concentrations was reduced by 79.3% and 45.6%, respectively. In case of T-N and T-P concentrations, the reduction rates were 52.2% and 60.5%, respectively and the amount of T-N and T-P were reduced by 16.3~73.0% and 15.4~70.1%, respectively. CONCLUSION(S): Our data implies that agricultural NPS pollution from rice paddy fields can be effectively managed when an appropriate drainage water management practice is imposed. In this paper, it was suggested that an installation of a small drainage pond can be effective to prevent not only the nutrient loss from rice fields but also pollutant discharge to surrounding water environments.

  • Background: The aims of this study are to evaluate the lip morphology and change of lip commissure after mandibular setback surgery (MSS) for class III patients and analyze association between the amount of mandibular setback and change of lip morphology. Methods: The samples consisted of 14 class III patients treated with MSS using bilateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy. Lateral cephalogram and cone-beam CT were taken before and about 6 months after MSS. Changes in landmarks and variables were measured with 3D software program $Ondemand^{TM}$. Paired and independent t tests were performed for statistical analysis. Results: Landmarks in the mouth corner (cheilion, Ch) moved backward and downward (p < .005, p < .01). However, cheilion width was not statistically significantly changed. Landmark in labrale superius (Ls) was not altered significantly. Upper lip prominence angle (ChRt-Ls-$ChLt^{\circ}$) became acute. Landmarks in stomion (Stm), labrale inferius (Li) moved backward (p < .005, p < .001). Lower lip prominence angle (ChRt-Li-$ChLt^{\circ}$) became obtuse (p < .001). Height of the upper and lower lips was not altered significantly. Length of the upper lip vermilion was increased (p =< 0.01), and length of the lower lip vermilion was decreased (p < .05). Lip area on frontal view was not statistically significantly changed, but the upper lip area on lateral view was increased and change of the lower lip area decreased (p > .05, p < .005). On lateral view, upper lip prominent point (UP) moved downward and stomion moved backward and upward and the angle of Ls-UP-Stm ($^{\circ}$) was decreased. Lower lip prominent point (LP) moved backward and downward, and the angle of Stm-LP-Li ($^{\circ}$) was increased. Li moved backward. Finally, landmarks in the lower incisor tip (L1) moved backward and upward, but stomion moved downward. After surgery, lower incisor tip (L1) was positioned more superiorly than stomion (p < .05). There were significant associations between horizontal soft tissue and corresponding hard tissue. The posterior movement of L1 was related to statistically significantly about backward and downward movement of cheilion. Conclusions: The lip morphology of patients with dento-skeletal class III malocclusion shows a significant improvement after orthognathic surgery. Three-dimensional lip morphology changes in class III patients after MSS exhibited that cheilion moved backward and downward, upper lip projection angle became acute, lower lip projection angle became obtuse, change of upper lip area on lateral view was increased, change of lower lip area decreased, and morphology of lower lip was protruding. L1 was concerned with the lip tissue change in statistically significant way.
