중.북부 및 제주지역에 적합한 사일리지용 옥수수의 우량품종 평가 (Ecaluation of Early Maturing and Superior Performance Corn Hybrids for Silage in the Central North and Cheju Regions)

  • Com(Zea mays L.) hybrid is recognized as the principal cmp in a double-cmpping system. Rye(Secale cereale L.), seeded after corn hybrid harvest, is the second crop in the system. Under this forage production system, corn planting is mostly delayed beyond mid-May due to delayed rye harvest on May, but the corn should be harvested until mid-August before the autumn rain started. It is for this reason that early maturing corn hybrids are preferred for silage crops in this system. Twenty eight cultivars of early maturing corn hybrids evaluated in this experiment at three locations (Suweon, Sunghwan and Cheju) for 3 yr(1994-1996) were compared for agronomic characteristics, forage yield and quality. Among the com hybrids tested, DUO1 and GL499 were recommended as the government superior corn hybrids due to their promising agronomic traits, such as short plant and ear heights, adquate dry matter percentage for silage on mid-August, good staygreen along with good lodging and disease resistance, better ear retention, similar yield compared to the control hybrid, Suweon 19 and above average stover quality.

토양(土壤)의 화학성(化學性)이 옥수수 수량(收量)에 미치는 영향(影響) (Field Survey on Soil Chemical Properties as Influenced on Corn Yield)

  • 옥수수 수량(收量)과 토양(土壤)의 화학적특성(化學的特性)과의 상관관계(相關關係)를 검토(檢討)하여 옥수수 재배지토양(栽培地土壤)의 토양화학성(土壤化學性) 개량(改良) 기준(基準)을 설정(設定)할 목적(目的)으로 16개(個) 옥수수 시범재배포장(示範栽培圃場)을 대상(對象)으로 조사(調査)한 결과(結果)를 요약(要約)하면 다음과 같다. 1. 옥수수 수량(收量)과 토양화학성(土壤化學性)과의 상관관계(相關關係)에서 $pH\;r=0.706^{**}$, $Av.\;P_2O_5\;r=0.675^{**}$, $Ex.\;K\;r=0.697^{**}$, $Ex.\;Ca\;r=0.763^{**}$, $Ex.\;Mg\;r=0.626^{**}$, $CEC\;r=0.803^{**}$, $Av\;SiO_2\;r=0.670^{**}$, $B.S\;r=0.729^{**}$로 정(正)의 상관관계(相關關係)를 나타내었으나 유기물(有機物) 및 전질소함량(全窒素含量)과는 유의성(有意性)이 인정(認定)되지 않았다. 2. 옥수수에 대한 토양중(土壤中) 적정무잔성함량(適正無棧成含量)(1,000kg/10a생산기준(生産基準))은 pH5.6, Av $P_2O_5$, 327ppm, Ex. K0.39me/100g, Ex. Ca 5.5me/100g, Ex. Mg1.3me/100g, Ex. Al 0.44me/100g, CEC 11.5me/100g, Av. $SiO_2$, 116ppm. B.S 58%로 추정(准定)되었다. 3. 토양중(土壤中) 치환성(置換性)알루미늄함량(含量)은 옥수수 수량(收量)뿐만 아니라 토양산도(土壤酸度), 유효인산(有效燐酸), 치환성가리(置換性加理), 치환성석회함량(置換性石灰含量)과도 유의성(有意性)있는 부(負)의 상관관계(相關關係)를 나타내었다.

Incorporation Effect of Green Manure Crops on Improvement of Soil Environment on Saemangeum Reclaimed Land during Silage Corn Cultivation

  • This study was carried out to investigate the incorporation effect of green manure crops (GMC) such as the hairy vetch on improvement of soil environment in reclaimed land during silage corn cultivation over the past two years. Plots consisted of conventional fertilization (CF) and incorporation of GMC were divided by addition rate of nitrogen fertilizer (100 kg $ha^{-1}$) with 30 - 100% of non nitrogen fertilization (NNF). Soil physico-chemical properties and growth and yield potential of silage corn were examined. The tested soils showed strong alkali and saline properties with low contents of organic matter and available phosphate while contents of exchangeable sodium and magnesium were high. Soil salinity increased during cultivation of summer crop. However, corn was not affected by salt content. The fresh weight of GMC at incorporation time was 18,345 kg $ha^{-1}$. Content of total nitrogen was 3.09% and the C/N ratio was 12.8 at incorporation time. Fresh and dry matter yield of silage corn were higher in the order of N30% reduction, CF, N50% reduction, N70% reduction, N100% reduction and NNF. Fresh and dry matter yield potential of silage corn for N30% reduction were comparable to those of CF. Bulk density of the soil decreased with incorporation of GMC, while porosity was increased. The soil pH decreased while content of exchangeable calcium, available phosphate, and organic matter increased. Also contents of exchangeable sodium and potassium decreased with incorporation of GMC. The data indicate that incorporation of hairy vetch can improve soil physical and chemical properties and reduce nitrogen fertilizer application especially for alkali saline reclaimed soil such as Saemangeum reclaimed land.

  • 본 연구는 대표적인 곡물 생산, 수출국인 미국의 일리노이주와 아이오와주에 대하여 카운티별 MODIS 위성영상 식생지수 및 기상자료를 활용하여 수량을 추정할 수 있는 다중회귀 모형을 구축하고 그 결과를 평가하였다. 2002년부터 2012년까지의 MODIS 위성영상 식생지수 및 기상자료로 옥수수와 콩 수량 추정 모형을 구축하고 2013년 수량을 추정한 결과, 일리노이, 아이오와 2개주에 대하여 약 1~16% 내외의 오차 결과를 얻었다. 모형의 수량 추정 정확도 향상을 위해 추후에는 지대 구분 및 다양한 지표면 생물리 모수를 함께 활용하여 수량 추정 모형의 성과를 높여나가야 할 것으로 판단된다.

  • “DK 537”has been selected by forage crop breeding team at the National Livestock Research Institute(NLRI), RDA and has been determined by the Deliberative Council of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation(NACF) in 2002, as a new recommended hybrid which is early maturing, good quality and hi호 yield of corn for silage. The characteristics of this hybrid are as follows ; 1. The seed coat is yellow and the mean of tasseling date is 5th of July, included in early maturing hybrid which is one day delayed than check cultivar, DK 501. The culm length is 246cm. It is resistant to lodging because of its low height from surface to ear. 2. DK 537 shows resistance to H. maydis and Maize Black-Streaked Dwarf Virus(MBSDV). It also shows strength to corn borer as much as DK 501 does. 3. Fresh yield. dry matter yield. and TDN per a ha are 50 tons, 16.9 tons, and 11.4 tons respectively. which are almost same yielding level of DK 501. Its percent ear to total dry matter is 50.8% at the same time. Through all these tests, we could make sure at DK 537 hybrid will be recommended as good forage crop.

Machine Learning Approaches to Corn Yield Estimation Using Satellite Images and Climate Data: A Case of Iowa State

  • Remote sensing data has been widely used in the estimation of crop yields by employing statistical methods such as regression model. Machine learning, which is an efficient empirical method for classification and prediction, is another approach to crop yield estimation. This paper described the corn yield estimation in Iowa State using four machine learning approaches such as SVM (Support Vector Machine), RF (Random Forest), ERT (Extremely Randomized Trees) and DL (Deep Learning). Also, comparisons of the validation statistics among them were presented. To examine the seasonal sensitivities of the corn yields, three period groups were set up: (1) MJJAS (May to September), (2) JA (July and August) and (3) OC (optimal combination of month). In overall, the DL method showed the highest accuracies in terms of the correlation coefficient for the three period groups. The accuracies were relatively favorable in the OC group, which indicates the optimal combination of month can be significant in statistical modeling of crop yields. The differences between our predictions and USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) statistics were about 6-8 %, which shows the machine learning approaches can be a viable option for crop yield modeling. In particular, the DL showed more stable results by overcoming the overfitting problem of generic machine learning methods.

  • This study was experimented to obtain the basic information on the changeable aspect and improvement of soil fertility in newly-reclaimed sloped land. Silage corn was cultivated under the six different treatments for 4 years. The relation between the amount or ratio of annual changes of soil physico-chemical properties and yield of silage corn were analyzed. Soil bulk density was decreased in 3rd year at topsoil, but that decreased in 4th year at subsoil. Soil organic matter also decreased in 2nd year at topsoil, and decreased continuously at subsoil. Bulk density and hardness of soil depths showed significant negative simple correlation with dry matter yield and cation exchange capacity showed positive. Correlation coefficient of chemical properties with dry matter yield were low. The range of annual changes of moisture percent, hardness and organic matter were wider than the other properties. The significantly different of physical properties were higher than the chemical properties, and those of topsoil were higher than subsoil. According to multiple regression between yield and physico-chemical properties of subsoil, bulk density and cation exchange capacity were in the greatest contribution at the variations, but bulk density was greatest at the ratios.

Feeding of Whole Sugar Cane to Dairy Cattle during the Dry Season

  • A study was conducted to determine the effect of feeding chopped whole sugar cane compared to corn silage on performances of dairy cows during the dry season. Twenty four Holstein Friesian crossbred (>87.5% Holstein Friesian) lactating dairy cows in mid lactation; averaging 16.5${\pm}$2.0 kg of milk, 121${\pm}$22 days in milk, 54.5${\pm}$4.5 months old and 440${\pm}$31 kg live weight, were stratified for milk yield, days in milk, age, stage of lactation and body weight, and then randomly allocated to two treatment groups (12 cows in each group). The first group was fed corn silage together with commercial concentrate while the second group was fed chopped whole sugar cane together with commercial concentrate. All cows consumed similar DM, however, cows on corn silage consumed more CP while cows on chopped whole sugar cane consumed more $NE_{LP}$. No significant differences in performances between the two groups were observed except for final live weight and body weight change. Cows on chopped whole sugar cane showed higher final live weight and gained more weight than cows on corn silage. The present study clearly indicates that chopped whole sugar cane can be fed to lactating dairy cows, while giving similar milk yield to corn silage.

  • 아밀로오스 함량이 다른 옥수수 전분에 전분과 물의 비율을 1:3.5와 1:9로 조절하고 $100^{\circ}C$$121^{\circ}C$에서 가열-냉각 처리를 4회까지 반복한 후, 효소-중량법과 ${\alpha}-$아밀라아제(Bacillus subtilis)를 이용한 효소법으로 효소저항전분을 분리하여 수분함량과 가열-냉각 방법에 따른 효소저항전분의 수율을 비교하였다. 같은 처리를 한 경우에는 효소-중량법이 ${\alpha}-$아밀라아제를 사용한 효소법보다 효소저항전분의 분리능이 더 큼을 알 수 있었다. 분리 방법에 상관없이 아밀로오스 함량이 높고, 가열-냉각 처리 횟수를 증가시키면 효소저항전분의 수율도 증가하였으며, 가열온도는 $100^{\circ}C$보다 $121^{\circ}C$에서, 수분함량은 전분과 물의 비을이 1:9보다 1:3.5의 조건에서 높은 수율을 보였다.

도입 사일리지용 옥수수의 생육특성 및 생산성 비교 I. 지역별 생육특성 및 생산성 (Comparison of Agronomic Performance of Introduced Corn Hybrid for Silage Production I. Performance of hybrids in different regions)

  • The agronomic performance of four introduced corn(Zea mays L.) hybrids and a domestic hybrid Suwon 19(control) was compared for silage production in the Middle Northwestern Coast(MNWC). Middle Southwestern Coast(MSWC) and Middle Northern Inland(MN1) regions of Korea, 1988 to 19 90. In the MNWC region, DK713 and P3144W were recorded as more resistant corn hybrids to rice black streaked dwarf virus(RBSDV) than other hybrids. P3144W, P3352 and DK689 hybrids produced higher dry matter(DM) and total digestible nutrient(TDN) than the control hybrid Suwon 19 and DK 713. In the MSWC region, P3144W and DK689 tended to yield more DM and TDN than other hybrids and a severe infection of RBSDV was observed during 3 years of experiment. In the MNI region, P3144W and P3352 corn hybrids showed higher ear and dry matter percentage and gave the highest DM and TDN yield compared with other hybrids. The RBSDV infection of the hybrids in the MNI region was moderate level compared with the two regions, but rate of stay green was the lowest. In the three regions, the control hybrid Suwon 19 gave the highest RBSDV infection, followed by P 3352, DK689, and P3144W, while DK713 was the lowest. P3144W and P3352 hybrids gave higher DM and ear percentages than all other hybrids at harvest. During 3 years of experiment, it was found that there were regional and year differences in RBSDV infection, forage DM yield, DM percentage and ear ratio to total DM yield of the corn hybrids.
