CO2용접에서 용접 토치의 위치변화와 전압이 용접부에 미치는 영향고찰 (Inspection about Influences on the Weld Parts through the Change of the Position of Welding Torch and the Voltage During CO2 Welding)

  • $CO_2$ Welding which uses $CO_2$ instead of inert gas is most widely used in industrial sites. Welding rod for $CO_2$ Welding is roughly divided into solid wire and flux cored wire. $CO_2$ Welding has higher efficiency than any other welding methods, and also economic and speedy to handle, that's why is used frequently for welding general structures. As most of studies about $CO_2$ Welding are focused on metallurgical changes of successful joints, they developed theories about the change of configuration on weld parts. This study is especially focused on not only the change of configuration on weld parts, but also the change of the penetrating depth through changing the position of welding torch. For inspection, applied AWS A5.20 E70-1 among welding wires and fixed moving angles of torch, but controled the values of voltage and the position of welding. Also Automatic Feed Mechanism is used for exact movement of material, specimen is a piece of steel for general structures. By measuring and analyzing the configuration of sliced section and the values of welding leg length and welding throat after welding, the outcome about the changes turned out.

  • Formation of the weld defect, such as a blowhole and a pit in lap-jointed fillet arc welds has been a serious problem in arc welding of Zn-coated steel sheet. In this study, the relationship among welding conditions, welding materials and defect formation was investigated in order to minimize these defects in the CO₂ welds. In addition, the arc stability of the commercial welding wires was evaluated for revealing their effects on defect formation. Main conclusions obtained are as follows:1) There was no difference between shear tensile strength of the sound welds and that of the welds with blowholes whose diameters are less than 0.5mm. However, the welds with blowholes whose diameters are equal or larger than 0.5mm and pits exhibited tensile strength 10~20% and 30~40% lower than that of the sound welds respectively.2) The optimum welding condition to effectively prevent or reduce the weld defects formation are as follows:- The welding variables of 220A-23V-100cm/min and 120A-190V-30cm/min were recommended for minimizing the weld defects.- The gap between the two sheets at the lap-joint should be controlled to more than 0.2mm- Solid wire was less susceptible to the formation of the weld defects than the flux-cored wire.- The low welding current condition produced less weld defects than the hihg welding current condition.3) One of the reason why the amount of the defect was reduced at the low welding current was the gas discharging by the active agitation of the molten pool, due to an increasing in the number of the short circuit. 해양 구조용 인코넬강의 FCAW 용접의 최적기술 개발 (Development of Inconel for Marine Structural Steel by FCAW Process)

  • Inconel 625 is useful in variety of industrial applications because of the resistance to attack in various corrosive media at temperatures from $200^{\circ}C$ to aver $1090^{\circ}C$, in combination with good law- and high temperature mechanical strength. Rencently, this material is also used widely in offshore processing piping in order to extend the maintenance term and improve the quality of anti-corrosion. In general, high quality weldments for this material are readily produced by commonly used processes. Not all processes are applicable to this material group, Ni-alloys. Metallurgical characterictics or the unavailability of matching, position or suitable welding processes. Nowadays, the flux cored wire is developed and applied for the better productivity in several welding position including the vertical position. in this study, the weldability and weldment characteristics (mechanical properties) of inconel 625 are considered in FCAW(Flux Core Arc Welding) associated with the several shielding gases($80\%Ar\;+\;20\%CO_2,\;50\%Ar+50CO_2,\;100CO_2$) in viewpoint of welding productivity.

  • A 30kVA superconducting generator (S.G.) has been designed, developed and successfully tested in KERI before the end of last year. The design is based on 2-dimensional electromagnetic field analysis of cylindrical coordinate. The field winding of rotor has been wound with superconducting wire of Nb-Ti alloy and tested after assembled with other rotor components. The stator has air-gap type armature windings which allow higher terminal voltage and more sinusoidal voltage waveform than conventional iron cored machines. Steady-state open & short-circuit test and lamp load test have been conducted also. The results of tests are given in this paper and compared with design quantities. Moreover the cooling scheme and characteristics of test system is included.

Generation of Ultrawide Band Electromagnetic Pulse from Blumlein Pulse Forming Line

  • A high voltage pulse generator was fabricated to radiate ultrawide band electromagnetic pulse. A coaxial type of Blumlein pulse forming line is employed to produce a pulse of high voltage (>300 kV) and short pulse duration (~5 ns). A helical strip/wire type of air-cored pulse transformer was used to charge the Blumlein pulse forming line up to more than 300 kV. A peaking switch is essential to make the pulse rise time as fast as possible. Typically, the rise time is ~500 ps. The output pulse of the generator is radiated into air through an exponentially tapered TEM horn antenna. The electric field intensity of a radiated pulse was measured as a function of the distance from the transmitting horn as well as the output voltage of the peaking switch. The peak-to-peak value of the electric field intensity at 10 m from the TEM antenna was~100 kV/m.

선체 구조용 Alloy 625의 용접시 보호가스 조성비에 따른 부식특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Corrosion Properties of welded Alloy 625 for Ship Structure by Shielding Gases Composite Ratio)

  • Alloy 625 is used widely in industrial applications such as aeronautical aerospace, chemical, petrochemical and marine applications. Because of a good combination of yield strength. tensile strength, creep strength, excellent fabricability, weldability and good resistance to high temperature corrosion on prolonged exposure to aggressive environments. High qualify weldments for this material are readily produced by commonly used processes. But all of processes are not applicable to this material by reason of unavailability of matching, position or suitable welding filler metals and fluxes may limit the choice of welding processes. Recently, the flux cored wire is developed and applied for the better productivity in several welding position including the vortical position. In this study. the weldability and weldment characteristics of Alloy 625 are evaluated in FCAW weld associated with the several shielding gases($80\%Ar+20\%\;CO_2,\;50\%Ar+50\%\;CO_2.\;100\%\;CO_2$) in viewpoint of welding productivity. The results of the experimental study on corrosive characteristics of Alloy 625 are as follows; There is no remarkable difference among shielding gases. however they has a striking difference among corrosive solutions by results of distinguished density and time of corrosive solution. Generally, the shielding gases($80\%Ar+20\%\;CO_2$) was superior to the other gases on high temperature tensile and a low temperature impact. but all of the shield gases were making satisfactory results on corrosion test.

FCAW에서 용접금속 확산성수소량에 미치는 용접변수 영향의 정량적 해석 (Quantitative Analysis on the Effects of Welding Parameters on Diffusible Hydrogen Contents in Weld Metal Produced by FCAW Process)

  • The effects of welding parameters such as contact tip-to-work distance (CTWD), voltage, and current on the weld metal diffusible hydrogen contents (HD) were investigated and rationalized by the calculation of heating time and amount of heat generated in the extension length of flux cored wire. As CTWD increased from 15 to 25mm, HD decreased from 8.46 to 5.45mL/100g deposited metal. Calculations showed that, with an increase of CTWD, the amount of heat generated increased from 46 to 92J in addition to an increase of heating time. Increase of current from 250 to 320A, however, gave little variation of HD. It showed that no significant change in the amount of heat generated was found, and heating time was decreased with an increase of current. It also showed that CTWD is more influential than voltage in relatively lower heat input ranges, while voltage is more in higher input ranges

일렉트로 가스 용접부의 기계적 성질에 미치는 Mn 및 입열량의 영향 (Effects of Mn and Heat-input on the Mechanical Properties of EGW Welds)

  • This paper is concerned with effects of Mn and heat-input on the mechanical properties of EGW welds. Four different kinds of welding consumables were fabricated by varying Mn contents such as 1.3, 1.5, 1.7, 2.0%Mn and each consumable was welded for EGW on four heat-input conditions between 190 and 340 KJ/Cm. Mn contents were decreased as heat-input increases and alloy elements (C, Si, Ti, B, Al) to deoxidize easily also revealed similar tendency to Mn. Their microstructure, Charpy impact property and strength were investigated, and it is found that Charpy impact property and strength exhibit a strong dependence on change of microstructure by Mn contents and heat-input. The increase of Mn contents or the decrease of heat-input made the microstructure fine and increase volume fraction of acicular ferrite, thereby leading to the great improvement of Charpy impact property and strength. In case of single EGW, optimum Mn contents are over 1.7% for the toughness and strength.
