세 종의 이매패류 Corbicula fluminea, Potamocorbula amurensis, Macoma balthica의 여수율과 금속 흡수율과의 관계에 대한 연구 (Relationship between Clearance Rates and Metal Uptake Rates of Corbicula fluminea, Potamocorbula amurensis and Macoma balthica: Influence of Water Temperature and Body Size)

  • A series of radiotracer studies were conducted to evaluate the influence of water temperature and/or body size on the clearance rates and uptake rates of Cd, Se and Zn in the Asiatic clam, Corbicula fluminea, Asian clam Potamocorbula amurensis and Balthic clam, Macoma balthica. Uptake rates of Cd, Se and Zn were estimated simultaneously with clearance rate of clams under 3 different water temperature conditions (5, 13 and $21^{\circ}C$). The weight specific clearance and metal uptake rates of P. amurensiswere increased with temperature, however, no consistent temperature effect was observed for the other clams. The variation of uptake rates of Cd, Se and Zn along with temperature or body size in each clam species was well associated with clearance rates. The inter-species as well as the intra-species difference of metal uptake rates could be well explained by the variation of clearance rates of clam individuals.

  • As a preliminary study, effects of environmetal pollutants on propagation of freshwater microalgae, Cryptomonas ovata and feeding rate of Corbicula leana were investigated at 20${\pm}$1$^{\circ}C$, over 20 days after treatment of pollutants, glucose, complex fertilizer and NH4Cl. Number of C. ovata in control group was increased from 38${\times}$104 cell/ml to 1.910${\times}$104 cell/ml after 20 days cultivation in Sorokin-Krauss medium. Increments of cell number in experimental groups treated with glucose, complex fertilizer and NH4Cl were higher than that of control group. The higher propagation rate of C.ovata was observed when 30 mg/l of glucose treated, 120 mg/l of complex fertilizer treated, and 4 mg/l of NH4Cl treated, compared with other concentrations in each pollutant treated group. The feeding rates of large size group of C. leana which fed with a living organism, C. ovata in each experimental group were higher than small size group, and slightly reduced with the increase of pollutant concentrations. The feeding rates were not significantly different between any concentrations of the pollutant, and among experimental groups treated with glucose, complex fertilizer and NH4Cl.

Corbicula fluminea (Bivalvia: Corbiculidae): a possible second molluscan intermediate host of Echinostoma cinetorchis (Trematoda: Echinostomatidae) in Korea

  • More than 1,500 clams of Corbicula fluminea, the most favorable food source of freshwater bivalves in Korea, were collected from 5 localities to examine cercarial and metacercarial infection with Echinostoma cinetorchis. Although 3 clams infected with suspicious E. cinetorchis metacercariae out of 200 specimens collected at Kangjin, Chollanam-do were detected, no cercarial and metacercarial infections with E. cinetorchis were observed in field-collected Corbicula specimens. In the susceptibility experiments with laboratory-reared clams, those infected with miracidia of E. cinetorchis did not release their cercariae up to 60 days after infection. To confirm the identity of second intermediate host of E. cinetorchis experimentally, a total of 30 clams were exposed to the cercariae from Segmentina hemisphaerula that had been infected with miracidia of E. cinetorchis. The clams were susceptible to cercariae of E. cinetorchis with an infection rate of 93.3%. Metacercariae from clams taken more than 7 days after cercarial exposure were fed to rats (S/D strain), and adult worms of E. cinetorchis, characterized by 37-38 collar spines on the head crown, were recovered from the ileocecal regions. This is the first report of C. fluminea as a possible second intermediate host of E. cinetorchis.

  • 담수산 이매패류인 참재?, Corbicula leana를 대상으로 크기와 수온별로 카드뮴, 구리 및 수은 등의 중금속에 노출시켜 반수치사농도, 호흡률 및 여수율 등의 생리적 내성에 관하여 알아보았다. 17%C에서 작은 개체rnhr,-LC$^{50}$ 은 수은이 1.63 ppm이었으며, 카드뮴과 구리는 각각 7.45및 8.71 ppm으로서 수은에 비해 상당히 높은 값을 나타내었다. 큰 개체구의 경우는 수은이 2.62ppm이었으며, 카드뮴과 구리가 각각10.15와 10.20 ppm이었다. 22$^{\circ}C$의 경우 작은 개체구의 96 hr-LC$^{50}$ ppm은 카드뮴, 구리 및 수은이 각각 5.94, 7.08및 1.63 ppm이었으며, 큰 개체구에서는 각각 8.29, 8.35, 1.87ppm으로서 두수온구에서 모두 작은 개체구에서 중금속 오염원에 의한 영향이 컸으며, 독성순위는 수은>카드뮴>구리 순이었다. 한편 중금속 오염원에 노출시킨 참재첩의 수온-개체크기별 산소소비율과 여수율은 오염원의 농도증가에 따라 고수온에서 영향을 많이 받았으며, 특히 수은의 경우, 22%C-작은 개체구에서 호흡률이 50.7%, 여수율이 52.15%감소되고 있어 여수율이 보다 크게 영향을 받았다.

Copper and Lead Concentrations in Water, Sediments, and Tissues of Asian Clams (Corbicula sp.) in Bung Boraphet Reservoir in Northern Thailand (2008)

  • Bung Boraphet is the largest freshwater reservoir in Thailand. This study examined the accumulation of copper (Cu) and lead (Pb) in water, sediment and tissues of Asian clams (Corbicula sp.) within Bung Boraphet to assess the possible polluting effect of soil erosion and the dissolution of water soluble salts from the Nan River. Samples were collected from 12 study sites within Bung Boraphet between February and December 2008. The physicochemical parameters of the water including temperature, pH, turbidity, ammonia nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, orthophosphates, biochemical oxygen demand, dissolved oxygen, Cu, and Pb were measured. The water in Bung Boraphet was found to be medium clean according to the surface water quality standard of Thailand. The levels of Cu and Pb in the water were low but heavy metals were detected at higher levels in the sediment and tissues of Corbicula sp. In the near future, management practices and regulator approaches for Cu and Pb contamination will be needed to protect the water in Bung Boraphet.

  • This study was to estimate population growth parameters of the freshwater bivalve, Corbicula (Corbiculina) papyacca (Heude) in Korea. Samples were collected from Jojong stream in Chungpyeong from September 1999 to August 2000. Ages were determined from the ring of shell, The shell length of the samples ranged from 4,2 mm to 28.1 mm, The ring on the surface of shell was formed once a year from January to March, Marginal increment analysis of shell rings indicated that annuli were formed in June. Spawning period was estimated to be May to August with a peak between June and July through fatness analysis, and thus rings were considered to be true annual marks. Von Bertalanffy's growth parameter were estimated from a nonlinear method with the value of logical maximum shell length ($L_{propto}$) was 34,36 mm, K was 0.1531/year, logical age of shell length 0 ($t_{0}$) was -0,5246 year, and logical maximum total weight ($W_{propto}$) was 11.42 g.

  • Spermatogenesis and sperm ultrastructure of the marsh clam (Corbicula japonica) were investigated by electron microscopic observations. Testis of the marsh clam consists of numerous spermatogenic follicle containing germ cells in the different developmental stages. Spermatogonia are located nearest the outer wall of the follicle, while spermtocytes and spermatids are positioned nearer to the lumen. Spematogonia are oval-shaped and about $5{\mu}m$ In diameter. Spermatogonia develop into spermatocyte, spermatid and spermatozoon. In the spermatid to about $2{\mu}m$ in diameter, cytoplasm decreases and mitochondria move to the base of the nucleus and fuse into several spheres, the centrioles become orthogonally oriented, a flagellum appears, and an acrosomal vesicle forms. The mature sperm has primitive type, consisting of a head, a midpiece and a tail. The sperm was arrow-shaped, and its head is about $8{\mu}m$ long and comprised of a long nucleus and an acrosome. The four mitochondria encircled the centrosome in midpiece. The flagellum had the classical 9+2 axoneme structure, and axonemal lateral fins in the tail were observed.

한국산 재첩속(Corbicula) 이매패류의 계통분류학적 연구 (Systematic study on the genus Corbicula (Bivalvia : Corbiculidae) in Korea)

  • 남한의 15개 지역에서 채집된 재첩속(Corbicula) 4종간의 유전적 분화수준 및 계통 유연관계를 규명하고자 전기영동을 이용한 동위효소 분석을 실시하였다. 이들 4종 중 담수 산인 C. fluminea, C. leana, C. colorata 3종의 종내 집단간 유전적 근연치는 S=0.970 이상 (0.970∼1.000)으로 매우 가깝게 나타났으나 기수산인 C. japonica의 집단들은 Gp-1 유전자 에서 뚜렷한 대립인자 차이를 가지는 2개의 유전적 group으로 분리(S=0.873)되어 이에 대한 추가적인 분류학적 검토가 요구되었다. 각 종간의 유전적 근연치는 C. fluninea와 C. leana 가 S=0.689, C. fluminea와 C. colorata는 S=0.594 그리고 C. leana와 C. colorata는 S=0.737 로 나타나 이들 담수산 3종간의 유전적 차이는 매우 뚜렷하였다. 특히, 기수산인 C. japonica는 담수산 3종과의 평균 유전적 근연치가 S=0.370으로 가장 먼 유전적 근연관계를 나타내었다.

형산강하구에 서식하는 참재첩 (Corbicula leana (Prime))의 생식주기 (Reproductive Cycle of Marsh Clam, Corbicula leana (Prime) in Hyongsan Estuary)

  • 포항 형산강 하구에 서식하는 참재첩, Corbicula leana을 대상으로 생식세포 형성과정 및 생식주기를 조직학적으로 조사하였다. 참재첩은 자웅이체로서 난생이며, 생식소는 완숙하면 암컷은 흑갈색, 수컷은 유백색을 띤다. 생식소관은 내장낭의 간중장선 하방으로 부터 근충의 외벽근층내에 있는 섬유성 망상결체조직까지 분포되어 있다. 난소는 수지상으로 연결된 난소소관으로 구성되어 있고, 정소 역시 많은 소관상의 정소소관으로 구성되어 있는데 이들 소관의 내강상피가 생식상피 기능을 하고 있다. 성숙난모세포는 배포의 변화로 알 수 있으며, 그 크기는 $70{\~}80{mu}m$ 정도이다. 난소 및 정소의 초기 발달에는 간충조직과 색소과립세포들이 영양세포로 관여하고 있으며 난소와 정소가 발달하면서 점차적으로 사라진다. 생식소 발달은 수온과 밀접한 연관성이 있고, 비만도의 변화도 주기성이 일치하였다. 생식주기는 분열증식기, 성장기, 성숙기, 방출기, 퇴화기 그리고 회복기 둥의 연속적인 주기로 구분할 수가 있다. 산란기는 6월 하순부터 9월 중순까지이고, 산란성기는 7월과 8월이었으며 생물학적 최소형은 10.0 mm 이상으로 조사되었다.

의암호산(衣岩湖産) 재첩 (Corbicula fluminea)의 산란(産卵)과 발생(發生)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (A Study of the Embryonic Development and the Egg Deposition of Corbicula fluminea (Palaeoheterodonta: Corbiculidae))

  • Corbicula fluminea, one of the 2 species in the family Corbiculidae living in the Lake Uiam, was used as an experimental material and the embryonic development and the structure of glochidia of this species were investigated. This freshwater mussels was oviparous, but some ovoviviparous: incubated their youngs in the inner-demibranchs or outer-demibranchs, however, chiefly used the inner-demibranchs as brood-pouch. The average time required from a fertilized egg to two-cell stage, veliger stage, and glochidium was 76 minutes, 3 hours, and 17 hours, respectively, The mean size of glochidium was $168{\mu}m$ in shell height, $195{\mu}m$ in shell lengh, $114{\mu}m$ in hinge legth and the form of glochidium was D-type and had no hooks or hooklets for attaching to fish like Unioidae.
