  • As a lot of education information are increasingly utilized in the educational sector, there is a consequent increase in the number of cases that file an action against the violation of the copyright law. Copyright education is provided to teachers in diverse ways, but they aren't well aware of it actually. The purpose of this study was to examine the copyright knowledge of teachers in a bid to determine whether they knew well about what they had to do or not. The subjects in this study were 349 elementary school teachers. After their knowledge was evaluated, it's found that they were different from one another in copyright knowledge according to their experiences of producing educational contents rather than educational experiences about copyright. Although they ever received education on copyright, they were better knowledgeable about that when they actually made use of educational information at their own request. The findings of the study suggested that down-to-earth, authentic and context-specific copyright education would be more effective than just theoretical one.

  • With the increase in copyright content exports to overseas markets due to the recent globalization of the Korean culture, the added value of the Korean digital content market is increasing at a significant rate. As such, as the size of the copyright market increases, different piracy sites have emerged that generate profits by illegally distributing works without the permission of the copyright holders, resulting in direct and indirect damage to these copyright holders. The existing copyright detection methods used in public institutions for solving this problem are limited, while the piracy sites are ever-changing. Methods are being continuously developed to achieve better detection results. To this end, it is possible to detect the latest infringement site domain by detecting the infringement site domain that is constantly changed through the search engine. This paper proposes an improved piracy site detection method using a search engine to prevent the damage caused by piracy sites.

  • In 2D-to-3D video conversion process, the virtual left and right view can be generated from 2D video and its corresponding depth map by depth image based rendering (DIBR). The depth map plays an important role in conversion system, so the copyright protection for depth map is necessary. However, the provided virtual views may be distributed illegally and the depth map does not directly expose to viewers. In previous works, the copyright information embedded into the depth map cannot be extracted from virtual views after the DIBR process. In this paper, a new copyright protection scheme for the depth map is proposed, in which the copyright information can be detected from the virtual views even without the depth map. The experimental results have shown that the proposed method has a good robustness against JPEG attacks, filtering and noise.

  • This study aims to suggest measures for handling copyright information on government publications during records and archives management to use them freely as public works according to Article 24-2 of the Copyright Act in Korea. Through email interviews with 17 records managers, persons in charge of government publication management, and government staff with experience in production from April 4 to June 13, 2022, this study determined the current situations and problems related to producing and managing copyright information on government publications. Based on the interview findings, this research suggested the following. First, Article 24-2 of the Copyright Act must be revised to apply the Korea Open Government License (KOGL) type 1 mandatorily to all public works. Second, a cooperative system for managing copyright information on government publications should be established to improve their production and management effectiveness. Third, copyright information, such as authors, copyright holders, copyright duration, information on the copyright property transfer, public works status, and reasons for nonpublic works, must be managed through records and archives management systems. Fourth and last, information on public works must be provided during the registration number application for government publication so that everyone can access the full texts of the publications on the National Archives of Korea website.
