  • Cooperative diversity is a promising technique for range extension and diversity increase without the use of multiple transmit antennas at the user equipment. In this paper, we propose a cooperative hybrid automatic repeat request relay method with adaptive retransmission to increase the throughput when the SNR of a source user is low. In the proposed method, the source user transmits the first segment of a codeword to relay users and a base station. If the base station fails to recover the information from the received packet, it requests the source or some relay users to retransmit the packet previously sent. In addition, the retransmission type of a selected user is chosen from repetition or incremental redundancy according to the quality of systematic bits in a turbo codeword. Simulation results show that the proposed method improves the throughput compared to conventional methods, and the improvement is significant when the source user has a low SNR.

  • In the cooperative communication, The relay that transmit signal to destination can achieve diversity gain. But transmitter and relay must have own frequency to transmit signal to destination. If Relay is secondary user and does not have own frequency, relay can't transmit signal to destination. So, To analysis performance of cognitive radio We need to consider detection probability of secondary user. In the paper we propose cooperative communication system considering detection probability. And to compare proposed system and conventional, we also simulate incremental cooperative communication. Through the simulation result, we can know that BER performance of proposed scheme is better than incremental relaying in the cognitive radio.

  • The data forwarding transmission is an important function of the relay in cooperative communication in wireless communication systems. However, additional relay cause the waste of power consumption and cost. Therefore, in this paper, we consider how to use the user mobile devices in stead of relays to deal with this problem. In this paper, we proposed the protocol that divide each relay into two states of idle and non-idle. The receiver has two functions of base station and user mobile device. In this case, it is possible that no additional cost, and improve the spectral efficiency and network capacity. We verified BER performance for the proposed protocol over Rayleigh fading through Monte-Carlo simulation.

  • Recently, MIMO technology, which can improve data rate, link reliability and diversity order, has been widely studied. However, due to the limitation of size, cost and complexity, it is difficult to equip multiple antennas in mobile devices. To overcome this problem, the cooperative communication scheme has been proposed. In this scheme, each terminal shares its single antenna to form a virtual MIMO environment. However, in conventional cooperative scheme, e.g, decode-and-forward, amplify and forward, the spectral efficiency is decreased if there are many terminals taking part in the cooperation. Therefore, the incremental relaying scheme has been proposed to solve this problem. In this paper, we consider various models using incremental relaying technique. In addition, the position of relay is investigated in order to obtain optimal performance.

  • The MIMO has weak points such as size and cost of systems and the complexity of hardware augment. Thus, the cooperative transmission techniques have been recently discussed briskly and it also solves problems by increase of shadowy area. However, limited cooperation scheme is utilized due to a single-antenna at the destination. The base station is simply equipped with multiple antennas. When the base station has multiple antennas, cooperative diversity and multiplexing schemes can be easily applied in the base station. To guarantee reliability with high throughput, a cooperative hybrid cyclic relay diversity transmission scheme is proposed which can use an arbitrary number of relays without rate loss and a modification of the base station. The presented results show that the proposed schemes can be effectively applied to the existing various MIMO-OFDM communication system.

  • In this paper, we propose a new type of mutually cooperative relaying (MCR) scheme based on a spatially coordinate-interleaved orthogonal design (SCID), in which two cooperative users are spatially multiplexed without bandwidth expansion. It provides not only diversity gain (with order of two) as in the existing MCR scheme, but also additional coding gain. Our simulation results demonstrate that the proposed SCID scheme is useful for improving the uplink performance as long as one user can find another active user as a close neighbor that is simultaneously communicating with the same destination, e.g., a base station in the cellular network.

  • In this paper, we consider IOTA-OFDM/OQAM system that improves the transmission power and rate efficiency of conventional OFDM system and propose DF relaying cooperative communication scheme based on the IOTA-OFDM/OQAM system. In the proposed scheme, the destination receives orthogonal signals from source and relay simultaneously and combines using MRC. We demonstrated that the proposed schemes get better BER performance than conventional system because of the diversity gain.

  • In this paper, we proposed a simple power allocation scheme to maximize network lifetime. To maximize network lifetime, it is important to allocate power fairly among nodes in a network as well as to minimize total transmitted power. In the proposed scheme, the allocated power is proportional to the residual power and also satisfies the required SNR at destination node. In this paper, we calculate power allocation in "amplify and forward" (AF) model. We evaluated the proposed power allocation scheme using extensive simulation and simulation results show that proposed power allocation obtains much longer network lifetime than the equal power allocation.

  • Energy savings in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems is an active research area. In order to achieve a solution, we propose a new cooperative relaying scheme operated on a per subcarrier basis. This scheme improves the bit error rate (BER) performance of the conventional signal-to-noise ratio (SNR)-based selection relaying scheme by substituting SNR with symbol error probability (SEP) to evaluate the received signal quality at the relay more reliably. Since the cooperative relaying provides spatial diversity gain for each subcarrier, thus statistically enhancing the reliability of subcarriers at the destination, the total number of lost subcarriers due to deep fading is reduced. In other words, cooperative relaying can alleviate error symbols in a codeword so that the error correction capability of forward error correction codes can be fully exploited to improve the BER performance (or save transmission energy at a target BER). Monte-Carlo simulations validate the proposed approach.

  • We propose relay selection schemes using STBC (Space Time Block Coding) technique in OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing)-based wireless systems. The proposed schemes select the optimum relay having the maximum instantaneous equivalent channel gain among multiple candidate relays. Also, in order to reduce the system overhead, a symbol grouping method which groups some amount of symbols before selecting the optimum relay is proposed. The simulation results show that the proposed relay selection schemes can obtain more selection diversity gain as the number of selectable relay candidates increases. Furthermore, the proposed scheme with the symbol grouping can reduce system overhead without any degradation of the performance in fading channels with low frequency selectivity.
