  • Cognitive radio has been proposed as a promising dynamic spectrum allocation paradigm. In cognitive radio, spectrum sensing is a fundamental procedure that enables secondary users (unlicensed) employing unused portion of spectrum of primary users (licensed) without causing harmful interference. However, the performance of single-user spectrum-sensing scheme was limited by fading, noise uncertainty shadowing and hidden node problem. Cooperative spectrum sensing was proposed to mitigate these problem. In this paper, we observe cooperative sensing scheme with energy detection using three adaptive thresholds for local decision, which can mitigate sensing failure problem and improve sensing performance at local node. In cooperative scheme we employed OR rules as decision combining at fusion center. We evaluate our scheme through computer simulation, and the results show that with OR combination rule our scheme can achieve best performance than other schemes.

  • In this paper, we proposed spectrum sensing using cooperative relay to solve problem of sensing performance degradation due to CPE (Customer-Primise equipments) which causes low SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) problem. This system model is expected that cooperative relay scheme guarantees the high sensing performance by its diversity gain. Based on these backgrounds, in this paper, we apply to cooperative relay scheme to the CR (cognitive radio) system, and simulation results show comparison of the sensing performance combining method EGC and MRC.

  • An allocation of sensing and reporting times is proposed to improve the sensing performance by scheduling them in an efficient way for cognitive radio networks with cluster-based cooperative spectrum sensing. In the conventional cooperative sensing scheme, all secondary users (SUs) detect the primary user (PU) signal to check the availability of the spectrum during a fixed sensing time slot. The sensing results from the SUs are reported to cluster heads (CHs) during the reporting time slots of the SUs and the CHs forward them to a fusion center (FC) during the reporting time slots of the CHs through the common control channels for the global decision, respectively. However, the delivery of the local decision from SUs and CHs to a CH and FC requires a time which does not contribute to the performance of spectrum sensing and system throughput. In this paper, a super-allocation technique, which merges reporting time slots of SUs and CHs to sensing time slots of SUs by re-scheduling the reporting time slots, has been proposed to sense the spectrum more accurately. In this regard, SUs in each cluster can obtain a longer sensing duration depending on their reporting order and their clusters except for the first SU belonged to the first cluster. The proposed scheme, therefore, can achieve better sensing performance under -28 dB to -10 dB environments and will thus reduce reporting overhead.

  • In this paper, we propose weighted detection probability with distance between primary user and secondary users by using cooperative spectrum sensing based on energy detection. And we analysis and simulate the result. We suggest different distance between primary user and secondary users and the wireless channel between primary user and secondary users is modeled as Gaussian channel. From the simulation results of the cooperative spectrum sensing with weighted method make coverage bigger compared with non-weight, and We show higher sensing efficiency when we put weight detection probability than before method.

  • Due to the low utilization and scarcity of frequency spectrum in current spectrum allocation methodology, cognitive radio networks (CRNs) have been proposed as a promising method to solve the problem, of which spectrum sensing is an important technology to utilize the precious spectrum resources. In order to protect the primary user from being interfered, most of the related works focus only on the restriction of the missed detection probability, which may causes over-protection of the primary user. Thus the interference probability is defined and the interference-aware sensing model is introduced in this paper. The interference-aware sensing model takes the spatial conditions into consideration, and can further improve the network performance with good spectrum reuse opportunity. Meanwhile, as so many fading factors affect the spectrum channel, errors are inevitably exist in the reporting channel in cooperative sensing, which is improper to be ignored. Motivated by the above, in this paper, we study the throughput tradeoff for interference-aware cognitive radio networks over imperfect reporting channel. For the cooperative spectrum sensing, the K-out-of-N fusion rule is used. By jointly optimizing the sensing time and the parameter K value, the maximum throughput can be achieved. Theoretical analysis is given to prove the feasibility of the optimization and computer simulations also shows that the maximum throughput can be achieved when the sensing time and the parameter of K value are both optimized.

  • Cognitive radio (CR) features opportunistic access to spectrum when licensed users (LU) are not operating. To avoid interference to LU, cognitive users (CU) need to perform spectrum sensing. Because of local shadowing, fading, or limited sensing capability, it is suggested that multiple CUs cooperate to detect LU. In cooperative spectrum sensing, CUs should exchange their sensing data with minimum bandwidth and delay. In this paper, we introduce a novel method to efficiently report sensing data to the central node in an infrastructured OFDM-based CR network. All CUs simultaneously report their sensing data over unique and orthogonal signals on locally available subcarriers. By detecting the signals, the central node can determine subcarrier availability for each CU. Implementation challenges are identified and then their solutions are suggested. The proposed method is evaluated through simulation on a realistic channel model. The results show that the proposed method is feasible and efficient.

  • Cooperative spectrum sensing allows secondary users of a cognitive radio(CR) network to collaborate to determine whether a primary user occupies the spectrum of interest or not. It usually performs spectrum sensing by combining the individual decisions of each second user into a final one and the k-out-of-n fusion rule is a general approach for decision fusion. This rule declares that the spectrum is occupied only when the decisions from more than k-1 secondary users indicate the presence of a primary user. In this paper, we analyze a cooperative spectrum sensing scheme with the fusion rule under the constraint that its detection probability is maintained to be no less than a given level and its numerical results for the case of a CR network with 10 secondary users.

  • Cognitive Radio (CR) technology is proposed for using the unused spectrum band efficiently because of the spectrum scarcity problems. Spectrum sensing technology is one of the key challenge issues in cognitive radio technologies, which enables unlicensed users to identify and utilize vacant spectrum resource allocated to primary users. In this paper, the cooperative spectrum sensing technologies apply the ITS(Intelligent Transport System) and performance of signal detection analyzes. Then, we utilize the OR-rule and AND-rule for the cooperative signal detection. These data fusion rules improve the performance and reliability of the signal detection.
