  • The purpose of this study was to represent hypotheses of the interrelationship of the level of cooperation, conflict, and performance and to report the findings testing the hypotheses in car channels. This study provides some general guidance toward better cooperation, conflict, and performance management. The results indicate that noncoercive bases of power and dependence hale a positive effect on cooperation, while the proposed inverse relationship between coercive bases of power and cooperation is not statistically significant. Coercive bases of power have a positive effect on conflict, while conflict is not statistically significant for noncoercive bases of power, dependence, and cooperation. Finally, cooperation has a positive effect on dealer performance, but conflict has a negative effect on dealer performance.

  • Purpose: This study aims to explore the relationship between the focal firm's interdepartmental cooperation and new product development (NPD) performance with focus on the moderating effect of environmental uncertainty. The basic hypothesized model is that there are positively associated relationships. Methods: The proposed research model was tested using structural equation modeling with 601 responses from multi-functional and multiple respondents in Korean manufacturing firms. Multi-group SEM analyses were conducted to explore the degree to which the hypothesized model was equivalent for different levels of environmental uncertainty. Results: Interdepartmental cooperation between R&D and production is positively associated with NPD performance under both higher and lower environmental uncertainties, while one between R&D and marketing is positively associated under only higher environmental uncertainty. Conclusion: This paper determined that NPD performance is positively correlated with R&D-production cooperation in a focal firm, and the relationship between R&D-marketing cooperation and NPD performance is positively moderated by level of environmental uncertainty. Consequently, this study suggests that it is always important for firms to put much effort on R&D-production cooperation for a better NPD performance, while R&D-marketing cooperation should be enhanced especially under higher environmental uncertainty than lower.

  • Many tertiary hospitals have started to establish cooperative relationships with small and medium sized hospitals in Korea. But the performance of the relationship is not satisfactory to both of partners. The relationship and performance of cooperation for small and medium sized hospitals are analyzed according to the framework of inter-organizational cooperation. Data are collected by 4 focal hospital and 34 small and medium sized hospitals through interview and questionnaire. The findings are : a) The cooperation is focused on management area, such as healthcare technology transfer and information sharing, rather than patient referral. b) Patient referral is not yet active in cooperative relationship. But some partner hospitals which is located close and managing internal organization for cooperation show a significant number of referrals. c) The characteristics of high performers are positive attitude about cooperation, and recognition of the relationship as flexible, experiences of cooperation, internal and external management activities.

  • As R&D cooperation activities with various partners are becoming huge in scale and scope, to achieve successful R&D performance, we need to systematically divide by its characteristics and to stratagemically carry out R&D cooperation activities. In this paper we propose R&D cooperation system between the university and the R&D institute in the geoscience field. The cooperation system can include activities of joint R&D program execution, R&D researcher exchange, R&D infrastructure use, technology commercialization and business exchange. Its system seems to positively affect on R&D performance and when considering the level of innovation as a moderating variable, in the situation of high innovation environment its system is able to positively affect on the R&D performance. For different effects of R&D cooperation activities on individual cooperation performance we can choose proper cooperation activities for R&D cooperation purposes.

  • This paper explores the relationship between network cooperation, innovation, internationalization and economic performance of manufacturing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) of engineering goods industry located in Bangalore city, India. At the outset, it is observed that SMEs receive the maximum assistance in the realm of product specifications. Moreover, they do not resort to manufacturing new products as much as they resort to product modifications or process improvements. Further, it is found (using Chi-square test of independence) that higher the network assistance received from an external network, greater is the innovation performance of SMEs. Subsequently, using analysis of variance (ANOVA), export intensity (proxy for internationalization performance) of SMEs is found to have a significant positive association with both the degree of their network cooperation and of their innovation performance. Lastly, it is observed that higher the degree of each of network cooperation, innovation performance and internationalization performance, better is the economic performance (measured by total sales turnover) of SMEs. These results have significant implications for the policy makers of the country to give due attention to network cooperation, innovation and internationalization as the means of enhancing the economic performance of SMEs.

  • In this paper, we derive the performance analysis of the coded cooperation over a Rician fading channel. A new scheme called coded cooperation was suggested by using user cooperation and channel codes simultaneously. In previous works, it was verified that the coded cooperation schemes have better performance than other relay schemes in a Rayleigh fading channel. However, the high speed short range indoor wireless communication system has recently attracted research attention and its channel with very high carrier frequency(60GHz) can be typically modeled as a Rician fading channel. We derive analytical outage probabilities and bit error probabilities of the coded cooperation over the Rician fading channel and prove it to have full diversity order.

  • There has been a lack of research that has addressed firm performance associated with the mechanism among dependence, conflict and cooperation in the context of B2B relationships. Building on current knowledge regarding key constructs of dependence, conflict, and cooperation, the authors examine the primary assumption underlying firm performance and presents a process model of key constructs on firm performance using two moderators (relationship length and firm type). In so doing, a professional online research firm conducts panel survey and a total of 200 responses are used to test our proposed model. The results show that both conflict-cooperation and cooperation-firm performance linkages are significant, but other proposed links are insignificant. While the moderating effect of firm type is not significant, the dependence-performance link is moderated by relationship length, particularly in the stage of the initial relationships. These results has implications for a better understanding of B2B relationships from the initial stage to the sustainable stage.

  • The purpose of this research was to figure out what impacts technology and market orientation have on technological cooperation and management performance by analyzing the factors of technological cooperation aimed at firm's product development. In addition, the research was purported to help CEO and policy makers make better decision about technological cooperation by means of the systematic examination on the impacts that different factors of technological cooperation have on the management performance. For this purpose, it was analyzed first what kind of technology or factors of market orientation might affect manufacturer's technological cooperation. From the analysis, it was found that technological cooperation is affected by the factors of market orientation, which means that a firm needs strategic technological cooperation by taking into account multi-dimensional factors of technology and market when the firm aims at developing technology and market orientation. Second, it was analyzed whether a firm's technological cooperation has an impact on its performance. The results indicated that the impact differs in the degree of process of technological cooperation, implying that managing firm's technological cooperation is important in order to improve the quality of management performance. Third, it was analyzed through what structural relations technology and market orientation could exercise impacts on management performance. It was discovered from the 1analysis that technology and market orientation have an impact on management performance. To improve management performance, it seems essential to determine the order of priority among technology and factors of market orientation.
