Thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPUs) with different hard segment length has been prepared from a fixed molar ratio of poly(tetramethylene ether glycol), 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate, and 1,4-butanediol by different polymerization procedures. Results reveal that the on-set temperature of endotherms ( $T_{cc}$ ) due to the crystallization of hard segments by cooling the TPUs from melt and the peak temperature of endotherms due to the melting of hard segments ( $T_{mh}$ ) by heating the TPUs increased and levelled off with increasing the hard segment length of TPUs. It has also been observed that soft segment glass transition temperature ( $T_{gs}$ ) of TPU decreased slightly with increasing the hard segment length, which explains less mixing of soft segments and hard segments. In tensile measurement of TPUs, strain hardening is observed with increasing the hard segment length, which is attributed to the strain induced crystallization of soft segments.
Pure zirconia ceramic fiber experiences severe volume changes through thermal cyclings of heating and cooling. Zirconia fiber was doped with CaO to stabilize the phase and its effect of CaO was studied on volumetric ratio of each phases, phase transition temperature and microstructure. Tetragonal phase was increased as CaO increases up to 10 mol% and cubic phase was stabilized when CaO was added more than 10 mol%. The average grain size of zirconia fiber was increased as CaO increased and transition temperature was shifted to lower temperature.
structure of matters of Lambda cold dark matter (CDM) cosmology on detailed numerical simulations. To accomplish our research goal, we have added the following baryonic physics on the existing cosmological hydrodynamic code, Gadget-2: 1) radiative heating and cooling, 2) reionization of the Universe and UV shielding, 3) star formation, 4) energy and metallicity feedback by supernova. In addition, we included cluster formation to distinguish clustered star formation inside the very high density gas clumps from the field star formation. Our simulations cover a cubic box of a side length 4Mpc/h with 130 million particles. The mass of each particles is $3.4{\times}104Msun$, thus the GCs can be resolved with more than hundreds particles. We discuss various properties of the GCs such as mass function, specific frequency, baryon-to-dark matter ratio, metallicity, spatial distribution, and orbit eccentricity distribution as functions of redshift. We also discuss how the formation and evolution of the GCs are affected by UV shielding.

Heat transfer characteristics of self oscillating heat pipe were experimentally investigated for the effect of fill charge ratios and heat loads. The heat pipe used for this study is made of copper capillary, has 0.002m internal diameter, a 0.34m length in one turn and consists of 19 turns. Heating and cooling section each have a length of 70mm. Water was used as working fluid inside heat pipe. As the experimental results, the self oscillating heat pipe was operated by self-exited oscillation and circulation of working fluid and the oscillation within the self oscillating heat pipe assumed chaotic behavior.

This study is concerned with deep drawability of magnesium sheets(AZ31B) at the warm conditions. Especially the dependency on forming speed has been investigated at the temperature of $200^{\circ}C$ and $300^{\circ}C$. Deep drawing test has been carried out at the temperature of $200^{\circ}C$ and $300^{\circ}C$. The die and blank holder are kept at test temperature by local heating and the punch is kept at room temperature by cooling technique. The magnesium sheets called AZ31B with the thickness of 0.5mm have been applied to deep drawing of circular cup. The drawability has been estimated at the conditions of forming speed (0.1, 1, 10 mm/sec). The results of deep drawing experiments show that the drawability is better at $300^{\circ}C$. Also the deep drawability is improved at the low speed(1mm/sec).
Gravitational instability (GI) can produce massive gas giants on wide orbits by fragmentation of protoplanetary disks (PPDs). While most previous works focus on PPDs around solar mass stars, gas giants have been observed in systems with a wide range of stellar masses including M dwarfs. We use the GIZMO code to perform global three-dimensional simulations of self-gravitating disks around low-mass stars. Our models consider heating by turbulent viscosity and stellar irradiation and the β cooling occurring over the dynamical time. We run various models with differing disk-to-star mass ratio q and disk temperature. We find that strongly gravitating disks either produce spirals or undergo fragmentation. The minimum q value for fragmentation is 0.2-0.7, with a smaller value corresponding to a more massive star and/or a smaller disk. The critical q value depends somewhat sensitively on the disk temperature, suggesting that the stellar irradiation is an important factor in determining GI. We discuss our results in comparison with previous work as well as recent ALMA observations.

In order to reduce the compression power and to use the overall energy contained in LNG effectively, a combined cycle is devised and simulated. The combined cycle is composed of two cycles; one is an open cycle of liquid/solid carbon dioxide production cycle utilizing LNG cold energy in $CO_2$ condenser and the other is a closed cycle gas turbine which supplies power to the $CO_2$ cycle, utilizes LNG cold energy for lowering the compressor inlet temperature, and uses the heating value of LNG at the burner. The power consumed for the $CO_2$ cycle is investigated in terms of a production ratio of solid $CO_2$. The present study shows that much reduction in both $CO_2$ compression power (only $35\%$ of power used in conventional dry ice production cycle) and $CO_2$ condenser pressure could be achieved by utilizing LNG cold energy and that high cycle efficiency ($55.3\%$ at maximum power condition) in the gas turbine could be accomplished with the adoption of compressor inlet cooling and regenerator. Exergy analysis shows that irreversibility in the combined cycle increases linearly as a production ratio of solid $CO_2$ increases and most of the irreversibility occurs in the condenser and the heat exchanger for compressor inlet cooling. Hence, incoming LNG cold energy to the above components should be used more effectively.

Activated hwangtoh (ACT) is a natural resource abundant in South Korea, approximately 15.0% of soil. It is an efficient mineral admixture that has activated pozzolanic properties through high-temperature heating and rapid cooling. The purpose of this study is to improve a curb mixture that can reduce NOx outside and investigate durability performance. To this end, mortar curb specimens were manufactured by replacing OPC with ACT. The ACT substitution ratios of 0.0, 10.0, and 25.0% were considered, and mechanical and durability tests on the curb specimens were conducted at 28 and 91 days of age. Steam curing was carried out for three days for the production of curbs, which was very effective to strength development at early ages. The reduction in strength at early ages could be compensated through this process, and no significant performance degradation was evaluated in the tests on chloride attack, carbonation, and freezing and thawing. The mortar curb with an ACT of 10.0~25.0% replacement ratio exhibited clear NOx reduction through photocatalytic (TiO2) treatment. This is due to the increase in physical absorption through surface absorption and the photocatalyst-containing TiO2 coating. In this study, the reasonable range of the ACT replacement ratio for NOx reduction was quantitatively evaluated through a comprehensive analysis of each test.
To predict and evaluate metallurgical and mechanical behavior of th welds, it is essential to understand solidification behavior and microstructural evolution experienced in the welds, neither of which follows the equilibrium phase diagram because of rapid heating and cooling conditions. Metallurgical phenomena in austenitic stainless steel fusion welds, types 304, 309S, 316L, 321 and 304N, were investigated in this study. Autogenous GTA welding was performed on weld coupons, and primary solidification mode and phase distribution were investigated from the welds. Varestraint test was employed to evaluate solidification cracking susceptibilities of the alloys. GTA weld fusion zones in type 304, 321 and 304N stainless steels experienced primary ferrite solidification while those in type 309S primary austenite solidification. Type 316L exhibited a mixed type of primary ferrite and primary austenite solidification. The primary solidification mode strongly depended on $Cr_{eq}/Ni_{eq}$ ratio. In terms of solidification cracking susceptibility, type 309S that solidified as primary austenite exhibited high cracking susceptibility while the alloys experienced primary ferrite solidification showed low cracking susceptibility. The relative ranking in solidification cracking susceptibility was type 304=type 304N < type 321 < type 316L < type 309S.
Daylight is a critical factor in architecture, as it helps enhance the working efficiency and pleasantness of the people working inside, in addition to reduce the power consumption in heating and cooling and make the interior space brighter. There are many kinds of glazing and daylighting systems. At present, research and efforts for their development are carried out, alongside quantitative evaluation. This study aims to present basic materials to be used to design proper glazing and daylighting systems in architecture based on a quantitative evaluation by scale models of existing office buildings. The result of the study can be summarized as follows. 1)As a result of the experiment, it appeared that the ratio of the interior illumination (i.e. at the working table, ceiling and wall) against the outdoor illumination increases at a constant rate, as the transmittance of the glazing goes up. 2) It was found that the SIR(Sunlight Illuminance Ratio) of a separated window system goes up by 20-50% at the rear part than in the case of an ordinary window system.
