  • To estimate the operating performances of the geothermal heat exchange pipe(GHEX), GHEXs of 400RT geothermal system were measured and analyzed through a year. The followings are the results. The temperature of 2 GHEXs installed 4m apart was fluctuated very similarly. When the geothermal system is nor operating or is operating as heating mode, the temperature of G.L.-170m was always higher than G.L.-70m's. But it reversed when the geothermal system is operating as cooling mode. And through a year, it has been observed that the temperature of G.L.-170m is increased approximately $1.5^{\circ}C$. With previously mentioned results, the heat transfer capacity of G.L.-70m's geological stratum is estimated as higher than that of the G.L.-170m.

Manual operation signal system (the ATS and the ATC) almost it is a condition which is wholly lacking from the segment. This year from second half of the year 2 line manual operation signal system (ATS). It established the shutting tightly elder brother and the railing elder brother in PSD system in segment 12 reverses and the death accident due to the passenger hurt accident which occurs from the subway. It prevented an energy curtailment in the same time when it raises air cooling efficiency, It gathered it restricted the underground space which is comfortable in the use citizen and and and service it did interface the electromotive car and PSD entrance and exit literature course from the manual operation segment to sleep technically optimizationt. • The performance of water-to-water heat pump system coupled with the ground source vertical heat exchanger is presented in this paper. The CAP program of Florida Heat Pump Co. is used to predict the heat pump performances while the EED program calculates the borehole fluid temperature. It is shown that COPH increases with decreasing the temperature of output water for the operation of heating mode and COPR increases with increasing temperature of output water for the operation of cooling mode. The value of specific heat extraction rate must be moderate to insure the reasonable installation cost of borehole system. With $1^{\circ}C$decrease of $T_{wo}$ the average COPH increase is estimated as about $0.06/^{\circ}C$(for $T_{wo}\;=\;45{\sim}60^{\circ}C$ range) while with $1^{\circ}C$ increase of $T_{wo}$ the estimation of COPR increase is about $0.13/^{\circ}C$(for $T_{wo}\;= \;5{\sim}11^{\circ}C$ range) at the specific heat extraction rate of 30W/m.

  • This study describes thermal performance of heating and cooling demonstration system using ETSC(Evacuated tubular solar collector) installed at Seo-gu art center of Kwangju. For demonstration study, a reading room with about $331m^2$ was heated and cooled using that system. The demonstration system was consisted of ETSCs, storage tank, hot water supply tank, subsidiary boiler, and subsidiary tank. From January to March in 2006, demonstration test were performed with 4 control mode to find the optimum control condition for solar thermal system. After experiments and analysis, this study found that solar thermal system of control mode IV was corresponded to 78% for the hot water supply and 49% for space heating.

  • This study compared constant water bath performances of conventional water-cooled refrigerator and electric heater with an air-cooled VRF chiller and electric heater equipped with optimal control algorithm. In heating mode, the air cooled VRF chiller and electric heater combination reduced the set temperature arrival time by an average of 42 minutes, and energy was also reduced by 18%. In cooling mode, the two systems took 70 minutes to reach the set temperature and showed no difference. Energy was reduced by 33.5% with the new system. For constant temperature maintaining experiment, after reaching the set temperature of $15^{\circ}C$, $20^{\circ}C$ and $22^{\circ}C$, temperature deviations were all in the range of $-0.2^{\circ}C$ to $+0.1^{\circ}C$. Energy was reduced by an average of 84.9%. Through this study, possibility of precise temperature control by an air cooled VRF chiller system was confirmed.

  • We analyzed mitigation strategies for steam generator tube rupture (SGTR) accidents using MARS code under both full-power and low-power and shutdown (LPSD) conditions. In general, there are two approaches to mitigating SGTR accidents: supplementing the reactor coolant inventory using safety injection systems and depressurizing the reactor coolant system (RCS) by cooling it down using the intact steam generator. These mitigation strategies were compared from the viewpoint of break flow from the ruptured steam generator tube, the core integrity, and the possibility of the main steam safety valves opening, which is associated with the potential release of radiation. The "cooldown strategy" is recommended for break flow control, whereas the "RCS make-up strategy" is better for RCS inventory control. Under full power, neither mitigation strategy made a significant difference except for on the break flow while, in LPSD modes, the RCS cooldown strategy resulted in lower break and discharge flows, and thus less radiation release. As a result, using the cooldown strategy for an SGTR under LPSD conditions is recommended. These results can be used as a fundamental guide for mitigation strategies for SGTR accidents according to the operational mode.

  • Nuclear power plants are equipped with the reactor trip system (RTS) and the engineered safety features actuation system (ESFAS) to improve safety on the normal operation. In the event of the design basis accident (DBA), a various of post accident monitor(PAM)systems support to provide important details (e.g. Containment pressure, temperature and pressure of reactor cooling system and core exit temperature) to determine action of main control room (MCR). Operator should be immediately activated for the accident mitigation with the information. Especially, core exit temperature is a critical parameter because the operating mode converts from normal mode to emergency mode when the temperature of core exit reaches $649^{\circ}C$. In this study, uncertainty which was caused by exterior environment, characteristic of thermocouple/connector and accuracy of calibrator/indicator was evaluated in accordance with ANSI-ISA 67.04. The square root of the sum of square (SRSS) methodology for combining uncertainty terms that are random and independent was used in the synthesis. Every uncertainty that may exist in the hardware which is used to measure the core exit temperature was conservatively applied and the associative relation between the elements of uncertainty was considered simultaneously. As a result of uncertainty evaluation, the channel statistical allowance (CSA) of single channel of core exit temperature was +1.042%Span. The range of uncertainty, -0.35%Span ($-4.05^{\circ}C$) ~ +2.08%Span($24.25^{\circ}C$), was obtained as the operating criteria of core exit temperature.

  • This paper were investigated discharge characteristics in the Liquid Nitrogen($LN_{2}$) noticed as a cooling medium of high temperature superconductor, and the characteristics of surface discharge and tracking phenomena on the solid insulators of cryocable. In order to investigate the bubbles which have much influence on electric surface discharge in Liquid Nitrogen, knife type electrode and plane electrode was formed oppositely with mode A and B, C configuration. It is considered that these result are fundamental data for electric insulation design of superconductivity and cryogenic application machinery which will be studied and developed in the future.

  • The helium liquefier was installed for 7.5 T superconducting wiggler, which is a source of synchrotron radiation, in Pohang Accelerator Laboratory (PAL) in 1995. It is MODEL 1410 fabricated by LINDE (old PSI America) of which capacity is about 17 liter per hour in normal mode and 47 liter per hour with liquid nitrogen pre-cooling. In addition to SC wiggler, we are anticipating that some devices related to electron accelerator are to be upgraded with superconducting application in order to improve the quality of photon beam.

  • The present study has been conducted to simulate dynamics of a gas engine-driven heat pump (GHP) for the design of control algorithm. The dynamic model of a GHP was based on conservation laws of mass and energy. For the control of refrigerant pressures, actuators such as an engine throttle valve, outdoor fans, coolant three-way valves and liquid injection valves were controlled by P or PI algorithm. The simulation results were found to be realistic enough to be applied for the control algorithm design. The model could be applied to build a virtual real-time GHP system so that it interfaces with a real controller for the purpose of developing control algorithm.
