This paper presents the results of a series of performance tests for the integral Stirling cryocooler. Infrared sensor systems incorporating cryocoolers are required to be qualified to the appropriate environmental specification. Integral Stirling cryocooler for thermal imaging system have matured to the stage of undergoing formal qualification test program. The thermal environmental test of the Stirling cryocooler is presented in this paper. We performed that low and high temperature keeping test from $-40^{\circ}C$ to $+71^{\circ}C$ and operating test at high and low temperature cyclic range with acceptance tests performed at scheduled intervals. Cooldown time to 80K and steady state input power at 80K were determined as a function of cooler components temperatures at the compressor, hot end and cold tip. Tests performed on this cooler have been successful with a measured cooldown time to 80K of less than 5 minutes 24seconds for $71^{\circ}C$ ambient temperature with input power of 11W

A transformer is a device that changes the current and voltage by electricity induced between coil and core steel, and it is composed of metals and insulating materials. In the core of the transformer, the thermal load is generated by electric loss and the high temperature can make the break of insulating. So we must cool down the temperature of transformer by external radiators. According to cooling fan's usage, there are two cooling types, OA(Oil Natural Air Natural) and FA(Oil Natural Air Forced). For this study, we used Fluent 6.2 and analyzed the cooling characteristic of radiator. we calculated 1-fin of detail modeling that is similar to honeycomb structure and multi-fin(18-fin) calculation for OA and FA types. For the sensitivity study, we have different positions(side, under) of cooling fans for forced convection of FA type. The calculation results were compared with the measurement data which obtained from 135.45/69kV ultra transformer flowrate and temperature test. The aim of the study is to assess the Fluent code prediction on the radiator calculation and to use the data for optimizing transformer radiator design.

In this study hydrogen gas and oxygen gas are used to make a pollution-free engine which is a closed system with the components such as a combustor, two turbines, a radiator and a compressor. One of the two turbines produces main power, and the other is used to drive a compressor to compress unburned gases and to return them to the combustor. Some of the water from the radiator is pumped to cool down the internal wall of the combustor and to be used as a working fluid which expands from liquid state to vapor state to get more expansion work. The possibility of operating the whole system is checked by the thermodynamic analysis to make the closed engine system. The calculations in the thermal analysis are based on the Brayton cycle and the Rankine cycle. The closed system in this study shows similar efficiency as usual internal combustion engines, but it produces water only without air pollution such as $NO_x$ and soot.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify the effects of Pilates mat exercise may improve trunk muscle thickness and balance in healthy adults. Methods: Eighteen healthy adults participated in this study. They were randomly assigned to one of two groups: Pilates mat exercise group (n=9) and the control group (n=9). Subjects in Pilates mat exercise group performed the exercises three days per week for 6 weeks, which consisted of warm up, main workout, and cool down. Trunk muscle thickness of the rectus abdominis (RA), internal oblique (IO), external oblique (EO), transverse abdominis (TrA), multifidus (MF), and erector spine (ES) were measured using an ultrasonography. Balance ability was evaluated using Romberg test and limits of stability (LOS). Measurements were performed before training, 3 weeks after training, and 6 weeks after training. Results: There was a significant difference of RA, EO, IO, MF, and ES according to the main effect of time (p<0.05). There was a significant difference of EO, MF, ES, Romberg, and LOS according to interaction effect between the time and group (p<0.05). There was a significant difference only for LOS according to the main effect of the group (p<0.05). Conclusion: Pilates mat exercise did increase trunk muscle thickness and balance. However, the effect with respect to trunk thickness was limited. Pilates mat exercise appears to be more effective in improving muscles related to trunk extension and balance.
One of the components that used in the satellite thermal control subsystem is the Mechanically Pumped Fluid Loop (MPFL) system; this system mostly used in geosynchronous orbit (GEO) satellites, and can transfer heat from a hot point to a cold point using the fluid which circulated in a closed loop. Heat radiates to the deep space at the cold plate to cool down the fluid temperature. In this research, the radiative heatexchanger (RHX) for a MPFL system is optimized. The genetic algorithm has been used for minimizing the total mass and pressure drop by considering a constant transferred heat rate at the heat exchanger. The optimization has been done in two cases. In case I, two parameters are considered as a goal function, so optimization is performed using NSGA-II method. Results of optimization are shown in the pareto diagram. In case II, the diameter of pipe is considered constant, so the optimized value for distances of the parallel pipes is obtained by using the genetic algorithm, in which the system has the least total mass. Results show that in the RHX, by increasing the pipe diameter, pressure drop decreases and total mass increases. Also by considering a constant value for pipe diameter, an optimum distance between pipes and pipe length are obtained in which the system has a minimum mass.

Resonance phenomena occurs at large vertical pump which is operating to cool down the hot steam using sea water in the power plant. To avoid the resonance, the natural frequency needs to be isolated about 20% from motor operating speed. Yet, excessive vibration occurs especially at low tide. At first, natural frequency of the whole pump system and each part is calculated using ANSYS. As it is revealed in the previous journal papers that only circular pipe part is related to resonance, the FSI technique is applied for free vibration analysis. The natural frequency is reduced to 60% (compared to that) of the frequency measured in air as it is similar to other published results. And the frequency obtained by finite element analysis is almost same to that obtained from modal test. Based on the accurate finite element model and analysis, design change is tried to avoid the resonance by changing the thickness of pipe and base supporting plate. In stead of doing optimization process, design sensitivity is computed and used to find such designs to avoid resonance.

FIMS/SPEAR is a dual-channel far-ultraviolet imaging spectrograph on board the Korean microsatellite STSAT-1, which was launched on 2003 September 27. The primary mission goal of FIMS was to conduct a survey of diffuse far UV emissions in our Galaxy. For this purpose, FIMS completed a survey of about 84% of the sky during its operation of a year and a half. The present study aims to analyze this survey data made in the far UV wavelengths to understand the global evolution of our Galaxy. The far UV wavelength band is known to contain important cooling lines of hot gas: hence, the study will show how the hot gas in our Galaxy, produced by stellar winds and supernova explosion, evolves globally to cool down and become mixed with ambient cooler medium. One of the main findings from previous analyses of the FIMS data is that molecular hydrogen exists ubiquitously in our Galaxy. This discovery leads to another important scientific question: how is molecular hydrogen distributed in our Galaxy and how does it affect globally the evolution of our Galaxy as a cold component? Hence, the present study will cover both the hot and cold components of the ISM, which will also provide the opportunity to investigate the interactions between the two.
We aim to investigate the formation of primordial globular clusters (GCs) in the isolated dwarf galaxy (${\sim}10^{10}M_{sun}$) with cosmological zoom-in simulations. For this, we modified cosmological hydrodynamic code, GADGET-3, in a way to include the radiative heating/cooling that enables gas particles cool down to T~10K, reionization (z < 8.9) of the Universe, UV shielding ($n_{shield}$ > $0.014cm^{-3}$), and star formation. Our simulation starts in a cubic box of a side length 1Mpc/h with 17 million particles from z = 49. The mass of each dark matter (DM) and gas particle is $M_{DM}=4.1{\times}10^3M_{sun}$ and $M_{gas}=7.9{\times}10^2M_{sun}$, respectively, thus the GC candidates can be resolved with more than hundreds particles. We found the following results: 1) mini halos with the more interactions before merging into the main halo form the more stars and thus have the higher star mass fraction ($M_{star}/M_{total}$), 2) the mini halos with the high $M_{star}/M_{total}$ can survive longer and thus spiral into closer to the galactic center, 3) the majority of them spiral into bulge, but some of them can survive until the last as baryon-dominated system, like the GC.
Pulse tube refrigerator, which has no moving parts at its cold section, is attractive fer obtaining higher reliability, simpler construction and lower vibration than Stilting refrigerator or Gifford-McMahon refrigerator. Commonly used means to achieve optimum performance of Stilting type pulse tube refrigerator is an inertance tube. The use of inertance tube is a simple way to generate the phase shift needed to make pulse tube refrigerator operate as efficiently as Stilting refrigerator. In this study, the performance of the inertance pulse tube refrigerator (IPTR) was investigated experimentally. An in-line type IPTR consists of a linear compressor with two reciprocating pistons driven by linear motors, which makes pressure waves, a regenerator a pulse tube with the inertance tube, and a reservoir, The dynamic pressures (the compressor, pulse tube, reservior) and the temperature at the cold heat exchanger are measured to explore the dependence of the inertance tube on the performance of the IPTR. The experimental results show the dependency of cool-down characteristics, no-load temperature and amplitude of the pressures on the length and diameter of the inertance tube.
A prototype of the desiccant cooling system with a regenerative evaporative cooler was built and tested for the performance evaluation. The regenerative evaporative cooler is to cool a stream of air using evaporative cooling effect without an inc6rease in the humidity ratio. It is comprised of multiple pairs of dry and wet channels and the evaporation water is supplied only to the wet channels. By redirecting a portion of the air flown out of the dry channel into the wet channel, the air can be cooled down to a temperature lower than its inlet wet-bulb temperature at the outlet end of the dry channels. Incorporating a regenerative evaporative cooler eliminates the need for deep dehumidification in the desiccant rotor that is necessary to achieve low air temperature in the system with a direct evaporative cooler. Subsequently, the regenerative evaporative cooler enables the use of low temperature heat source to regenerate the dehumidifier permitting the desiccant cooling system more beneficial compared with other thermal driven air conditioners. At the ARI condition with the regeneration temperature of $60^{\circ}C$, the prototype showed the cooling capacity of 4.4 kW and COP of 0.75.
