In this paper, a deep learning-based detection and classification using multi-band frequency signals is presented for detecting earthquakes prevalent in Korea. Based on an analysis of the previous earthquakes in Korea, it is observed that multi-band signals are appropriate for classifying earthquake signals. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a deep CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) using multi-band signals as training data. The proposed algorithm extracts the multi-band signals (Low/Medium/High frequency) by applying band pass filters to mel-spectrum of earthquake signals. Then, we construct three CNN architecture pipelines for extracting features and classifying the earthquake signals by a late fusion of the three CNNs. We validate effectiveness of the proposed method by performing various experiments for classifying the domestic earthquake signals detected in 2018.
Recently, various machine learning based traffic classification methods are focused on detecting malicious network traffic. In this paper, convolutional neural network based malicious network traffic classification method is introduced and its performance is evaluated. In order to utilize the convolutional neural network which is excellent in analyzing images, a image transform method from important information of network traffic to a standardized image is proposed, and the transformed images are used as learning input of a CNN network traffic classifier. By using the real network traffic dataset, the proposed image transform method and CNN based network traffic classification method are evaluated. Especially, under various configurations of CNN, the performance of the proposed method is evaluated.
In this paper, we propose a method to achieve improved number plate detection for mobile devices by applying a multiple convolutional neural network (CNN) approach. First, we processed supervised CNN-verified car detection and then we applied the detected car regions to the next supervised CNN-verifier for number plate detection. In the final step, the detected number plate regions were verified through optical character recognition by another CNN-verifier. Since mobile devices are limited in computation power, we are proposing a fast method to recognize number plates. We expect for it to be used in the field of intelligent transportation systems.
We propose an efficient single convolutional neural network (CNN) for pedestrian detection on embedded GPUs. We first determine the optimal number of the convolutional layers and hyper-parameters for a lightweight CNN. Then, we employ a multi-scale approach to make the network robust to the sizes of the pedestrians in images. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm is capable of real-time operation, while providing higher detection performance than conventional algorithms.
Core algorithm of deep learning Convolutional Neural Network(CNN) shows better performance than other machine learning algorithms. However, if there is not sufficient data, CNN can not achieve satisfactory performance even if the classifier is excellent. In this situation, it has been proven that the use of transfer learning can have a great effect. In this paper, we apply two transition learning methods(freezing, retraining) to three CNN models(ResNet-50, Inception-V3, DenseNet-121) and compare and analyze how the classification performance of CNN changes according to the methods. As a result of statistical significance test using various evaluation indicators, ResNet-50, Inception-V3, and DenseNet-121 differed by 1.18 times, 1.09 times, and 1.17 times, respectively. Based on this, we concluded that the retraining method may be more effective than the freezing method in case of transition learning in image classification problem.
QFN (Quad Flat No-leads Package) is one of the SMD (Surface Mount Device). Since there is no lead in QFN, there are many defects on solder. Therefore, we propose an efficient mechanism for QFN solder defect detection at this paper. For this, we employ Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) of the Machine Learning algorithm. QFN solder's color multi-layer images are used to train CNN. Since these images are 3-channel color images, they have a problem with applying to CNN. To solve this problem, we used each 1-channel grayscale image (Red, Green, Blue) that was separated from 3-channel color images. We were able to detect QFN solder defects by using this CNN. In this paper, it is shown that the CNN is superior to the conventional multi-layer neural networks in detecting QFN solder defects. Later, further research is needed to detect other QFN.

This study proposes a throttle and steering control technology using visual sensors based on deep learning's convolutional and recurrent neural networks. It collects camera image and control value data while driving a training track in clockwise and counterclockwise directions, and generates a model to predict throttle and steering through data sampling and preprocessing for efficient learning. Afterward, the model was validated on a test track in a different environment that was not used for training to find the optimal model and compare it with a CNN (Convolutional Neural Network). As a result, we found that the proposed deep learning model has excellent performance.
In this manuscript, a new pansharpening model based on Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) was developed. Dilated convolution, which is one of the representative convolution technologies in CNN, was applied to the model by making it deep and complex to improve the performance of the deep learning architecture. Based on the dilated convolution, the residual network is used to enhance the efficiency of training process. In addition, we consider the spatial correlation coefficient in the loss function with traditional L1 norm. We experimented with Dilated Residual Networks (DRNet), which is applied to the structure using only a panchromatic (PAN) image and using both a PAN and multispectral (MS) image. In the experiments using KOMPSAT-3A, DRNet using both a PAN and MS image tended to overfit the spectral characteristics, and DRNet using only a PAN image showed a spatial resolution improvement over existing CNN-based models.

Recently, artificial intelligence has been applied to various fields such as image recognition, image recognition speech recognition, and natural language processing, and interest in Deep Learning technology is increasing. Many researches on Convolutional Neural Network(CNN), which is one of the most representative algorithms among Deep Learning, have strong advantages in image recognition and classification and are widely used in various fields. In this paper, we propose a new network structure that transforms the general CNN structure. A typical CNN structure consists of a convolution layer, ReLU layer, and a pooling layer. Therefore in this paper, We intend to construct a new network by adding fully connected layer inside a general CNN structure. This modification is intended to increase the learning and accuracy of the convoluted image by including the generalization which is an advantage of the neural network.

Convolutional neural network (CNN) consists of a few pairs of both convolution layer and subsampling layer. Thus it has more hidden layers than multi-layer perceptron. With the increased layers, the size of convolution mask ultimately determines the total number of weights in CNN because the mask is shared among input images. It also is an important learning factor which makes or breaks CNN's learning. Therefore, this paper proposes the best method to choose the convolution size and the number of layers for learning CNN successfully. Through our face recognition with vast learning examples, we found that the best size of convolution mask is 5 by 5 and 7 by 7, regardless of the number of layers. In addition, the CNN with two pairs of both convolution and subsampling layer is found to make the best performance as if the multi-layer perceptron having two hidden layers does.
