  • A new DC-DC power converter is researched for renewable energy and battery hybrid power supplies systems in this paper. At the charging mode, a renewable energy source provides energy to charge a battery via the proposed converter. The operating principle of the proposed converter is the same as the conventional DC-DC buck converter. At the discharging mode, the battery releases its energy to the DC bus via the proposed converter. The proposed converter is a non-isolated high step-up DC-DC converter. The coupled-inductor technique is used to achieve a high step-up voltage gain by adjusting the turns ratio. Moreover, the leakage-inductor energies of the primary and secondary windings can be recycled. Thus, the conversion efficiency can be improved. Therefore, only one power converter is utilized at the charging or discharging modes. Finally, a prototype circuit is implemented to verify the performance of the proposed converter.

  • The dc reactor type high-Tc superconducting fault current limiter(SFCL) is composed of three parts, a power converter, a magnetic core reactor(MCR) and a dc reactor. This study concerned with the power converter of the DC reactor type high-Tc SFCL. The rectifying devices which power converter of 6.6kV/200A SFCL consists of have to endure high voltage. We propose the dual mode power converter to reduce the voltage which each rectifying device endures. In the single phase the experiment and simulation of dual mode power converter and the simulation of power converter with one bridge rectifier are performed. The current of each system with different power converter has a same tendency and the voltage which rectifying device of dual mode power converter endures is reduced in half by comparison with that of power converter with one bridge rectifier. We found dual mode power converter can be applied to SFCL.

  • Normally, the buck converter is used for the charging converter of photovoltaic generator because this converter has good characteristics compare with boost and buck-booster converter But, in case of the sollar-cell voltage is lower than charging voltage, we cannot charge the sollar energy to the charger. So, in this paper, we proposed the novel hybrid converter using by combination of buck and boost converter for the charging converter of photovoltaic generator, as a results, it can operate buck, boost and buck-boost mode. The proposed novel converter has the same characteristics of the existent buck converter and furthermore it can operate as a boost converter. So, we can make the more effective photovoltaic charging system.

  • In this paper, a non-isolated three-level high step-up boost converter with output voltage balancing is proposed. By adding one extra inductor to the conventional three-level boost converter, the proposed converter is derived. Compared with the traditional boost converter and the three-level boost converter, the proposed converter can obtain very high voltage conversion ratio, and the voltage and current stress of switching devices and diodes are reduced. A 2.7 kW prototype converter is built and tested to verify performances of the proposed converter.

  • Non-isolated OSAKA Converter, which removes a three-phase transformer, is described in this paper. The converter switches once in every half cycle of an AC commercial power source. Therefore, it can solve many problems caused by the high frequency operation. The proposed converter achieves the soft-switching operation and the EMI noise can be reduced. In this circuit, the resonant capacitor, which is used for the soft-switching operation, is utilized for the improvement of an input current waveform. To achieve low cost and compact structure, non-isolated OSAKA converter removes a three-phase transformer of the OSAKA converter. By removing the three-phase transformer, three phase currents occur the interferences each other. To avoid the interference, a new switching method for non-isolated OSAKA converter is preposed. The converter can be constructed by the low-speed large power devices. The converter generates the low distorted input current waveforms with high power factor.

  • This paper proposes an isolated DCDC converter that consists of unregulated LLC resonant converter and non-isolated synchronous buck converter for battery charger of energy storage systems application. The unregulated converter operates as transformer with fixed duty ratio and switching frequency. The synchronous buck converter is installed in the output of the LLC resonant converter. And the converter charges and discharges the battery by controlling a current of battery. The proposed converter can get the high efficiency by separating function. This paper explains design of an unregulated converter and synchronous converter.

  • This paper presents a switched capacitor (SC) based bidirectional dc-dc converter topology for high voltage gain applications. The proposed converter is able to operate with multiple integral voltage conversion ratios based on user input. The architecture of a user-friendly, inductor-less multi-voltage-gain bidirectional dc-dc converter is proposed in this study. The inductor-less or magnetic-less design of the proposed converter makes it effective in higher temperature applications. Furthermore, the proposed converter has a reduced component count and lower voltage stress across its switches and capacitors when compared to existing SC converters. An output impedance analysis of the proposed converter is presented and compared with popular existing SC converters. The proposed converter is simulated in the OrCAD PSpice environment and the obtained results are presented. A 200 W hardware prototype of the proposed SC converter has been developed. Experimental results are presented to validate the efficacy of the proposed converter.

  • The phase-shifted, full-bridge (PSFB) DC-DC converter is widely used in electric vehicles (EVs) to charge a low-voltage (12 V) battery from a high-voltage battery. A Photovoltaic (PV) module-integrated PSFB converter is proposed for the EV power conversion system. The converter is useful because solar energy can be utilized to extend the driving range. The buck converter circuit is simply realized by adding one switch to the conventional PSFB converter's secondary side. For the inductor and diode, the existing components in the PSFB converter are shared. The proposed converter can charge a low-voltage battery from the PV module with maximum power point tracking. In addition, the two power sources can be used simultaneously, and efficiency is increased by reducing the circulating current, which is a problem for the conventional PSFB converter.

  • In this paper, bidirectional LLC-LC resonant DC-DC converter with notch filters in the primary side of resonant circuits is proposed. Even if resonant capacitors are used on the primary and secondary sides, the proposed converter can operate with the high gain characteristics of the LLC resonant converter without mutual coupling of resonant capacitors, regardless of the direction of power flow. In addition, by applying notch filters, the proposed converter can operate with a wider gain control range and can cope with overload and short circuit. The analysis and operating characteristics of the proposed bidirectional LLC-LC resonant converter are investigated. A 3.3 kW prototyped bidirectional LLC-LC resonant converter connected to 750 VDC buses is designed and tested to verify the validity and applicability of this proposed converter.
