A study on the development of conversion program between PTI and IEEE format data (PTI와 IEEE 형식의 데이터 변환 프로그램 개발에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, the comparison and analysis of PTI and IEEE data formats are conducted. and the algorithm and the developed program for data conversion between these data formats are proposed. PTI and IEEE data formats are widely used as the input data form of the software program for power systems. However, they are composed of different formation with each other. So, it is necessary to convert between two formats in order to use more programs with different input data format. Numerical results of the power flow calculation of the test system show that developed program is effective and useful.

  • In this paper, we develop a descriptor based on binary ECG conversion system that supports the conversion of a binary ECG format into XML-based HL7 aECG for the interoperability of ECG. HL7 aECG is a XML based standard for interoperability of ECG waveform. For the conversion of variety of ECG formats, we propose a binary ECG description mechanism. In order to describe binary ECG more efficiently, we develop a XML-based Binary ECG Description (BED) Language. One of the powerful features of using the XML-based ECG Description mechanism is that ECG data can read from various formats without the modification of source code of conversion system, and consequently it reduces conversion system maintenance costs.

  • ATSC (Advanced Television System Committee) has specified 18 video formats for DTV (Digital Television), e.g., scan format, size format, and frame rate format conversion. Effective MPEG-2 video transcoders should support any conversion between the above-mentioned formats. Scan format conversion Is hard to Implement because it may often induce frame rate and size format conversion together. Especially. because of picture type conversion caused by scan format conversion, the computational burden of motion estimation (ME) in transcoding becomes serious. This paper proposes a fast ME algorithm for MPEG-2 video transcoding supporting scan format conversion. Firstly, we extract and compose a set of candidate motion vectors (MVs) from the input bit-stream to comply with the re-encoding format. Secondly, the best MV is chosen among several candidate MVs by using a weighted median selector. Simulation results show that the proposed ME algorithm provides outstanding PSNR performance close to full search ME, while reducing the transcoding complexity significantly.

  • The purpose of format conversion is to convert a wide range of personal computer video formats into a target format. Circuits for the conversion have been developed by means of interpolation techniques, such as zero-order interpolation, bilinear interpolation, and bisigmoidal interpolation. This paper proposes a scan converter using cubic splines. The converter was modeled in VHDL on Max+PlusII and implemented with an FPGA chip. The circuit gives much better conversion performance than a scan converter with zero-order or linear interpolation.

  • Semantic quirks about the concept of metadata are briefly probed. The reasons behind the conceptual drift are also reviewed. Regarding different formats of metadata, the rationale behind the creation of new formats, their characteristics in relation to MARC format, and problems and methods of conversion or integration of metadata are investigated as background study. RDF (Resource Description Framework) as an integration tool for different metadata standards and Metadata Registry as a candidate for the purpose are studied and the both are compared. It is concluded that two approaches are not mutually exclusive, rather they are complimentary.

  • To allow for a quick conversion of the proprietary sequence data from various sequencing platforms, sequence format conversion toolkits are required that can be easily integrated into workflow systems. In this respect, a format conversion tool, as well as quality conversion tool would be the minimum requirements to integrate reads from different platforms. We have developed the Pyrus NGS Sequencing Format Converter, a simple software toolkit which allows to convert three kinds of Next Generation Sequencing reads, into commonly used fasta or fastq formats. The converter modules are all implemented, uniformly, in Java GUI modules that can be integrated in software applications for displaying the data content in the same format.

  • General-purpose MPEG-2 video transcoders must be able to achieve any conversion between 18 ATSC (Advanced television system committee) video formats for DTV (digital television), e.g., scan format, size format, and frame rate format conversion. Especially, scan format conversion is hard to implement because frame rate and size format conversion often happen together. This paper proposes a fast motion estimation(ME) algorithm for MPEG-2 video transcoding supporting scan format conversion. Firstly, we extract and compose a set of candidate motion vectors (MV's) from the input bit-stream to comply with the re-encoding format. Secondly, the best MV is chosen among several candidate MV's by using a weighted median selector. Simulation results show that the proposed ME algorithm reduces significantly transcoding complexity with a minor PSNR degradation.
