  • This paper presents a new method to obtain more stable and precise A/D conversion for remote sensing use. Hardware is designed to compensate offset voltage and drift & temperature characteristics, as well as to perform dual slop A/D converter by using single chip microprocessor. Serial communication program which is based on ASCII code commands is also developed to add initial setup & calibration functions as well as to perform A/D data communication. Proposed method will give a good applications to the industrial field where a high precision remote sensing is required.

  • This paper describes a 10-bit 75-MHz CMOS current-mode DAC designed for 0.8${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ double-poly double-metal CMOS technology. This D/A converter is implemented using a current cell matrix that can drive a resistive load without output buffer. In the DAC. a current source is proposed to reduce the linearity error caused by the threshold-voltage variations over a wafer and the glitch energy caused by the time lagging, The integral and differential linearity error are founded to be within $\pm$0.35 LSB and $\pm$0.31 LSB respectively. The maximum conversion rate is about 80 MS/s. The total power dissipation is 160 ㎽ at 75 MS/s conversion rate.

  • Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is a promising active remote sensing technique to obtain large terrain information of the earth in all-weather conditions. SAR is useful in many applications, including terrain mapping and geographic information system (GIS), which use SAR display images. Usually, these applications need the enormous data storage because they deal with wide terrain images with high resolution. So, compression technique is a useful approach to deal with SAR display images with limited storage. Because there is some indispensable data loss through the conversion of a complex SAR image to a display image, some applications, which need high-resolution images, cannot tolerate more data loss during compression. Therefore, lossless compression is appropriate to these applications. In this paper, we propose a novel lossless compression technique for a SAR display image using one-step predictor and block arithmetic coding.

  • Hyperpolarized (HP) carbon-13 (13C) MRI represents an innovative approach for noninvasive, real-time assessment of dynamic metabolic flux, with potential integration into routine clinical MRI. The use of [1-13C]pyruvate as a probe and its conversion to [1-13C]lactate constitute an extensively explored metabolic pathway. This review comprehensively outlines the establishment of HP 13C-MRI, covering multidisciplinary team collaboration, hardware prerequisites, probe preparation, hyperpolarization techniques, imaging acquisition, and data analysis. This article discusses the clinical applications of HP 13C-MRI across various anatomical domains, including the brain, heart, skeletal muscle, breast, liver, kidney, pancreas, and prostate. Each section highlights the specific applications and findings pertinent to these regions, emphasizing the potential versatility of HP 13C-MRI in diverse clinical contexts. This review serves as a comprehensive update, bridging technical aspects with clinical applications and offering insights into the ongoing advancements in HP 13C-MRI.

Parameter Estimation by OE model of DC-DC Converter System for Operating Status Diagnosis

  • This paper deals with a parameter estimation of the DC-DC converter system for its diagnosis. Especially, we present the results of parameter estimation for the DC-DC converter model by the system identification method. The parameter estimation for the DC-DC converter system aims at the diagnosis of its operating status. For the operating status diagnosis of the DC-DC converter system, we assume that the DC-DC converter system is an equivalent model of the Buck converter and estimate the main parameter for on-line diagnosis. In addition, for verification of an estimated parameter, we compare a bode plot of the estimated system transfer function and measurement results of the HP4194 instrument. It is a control system analyzer for system transfer function measurement. Our results confirm that the main parameter for diagnosis of the DC-DC converter system can be estimated by the system identification method and that the aging status of the system can be predicted by these results on operating status.

스키마 구조 데이타 매핑을 이용한 XML 구조변환 시스템 (An XML Structure Translation System using Schema Structure Data Mapping)

  • 최근의 데이타 처리 환경은 빠르게 변화하고 있다. 특정 단체나, 기업 내에서 상호운용에 대한 고려 없이 서로 다른 목적에 의해서 개별적으로 도입되었던 여러 어플리케이션이나 시스템 등은 유연하고 빠른 처리를 위하여, 프로세스 차원에서 통합되고 연동되어야 할 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 추가 비용을 최소화하면서 통합에 대한 요구를 충족시킬 수 있는 좋은 방법 중 하나는 모든 플랫폼에서 사용 가능한 장치 비종속적인 데이타 형식이고 W3C(World Wide Web Consortium)의 문서 변환 표준인 XSLT (eXtensible Stylesheet Language Transformation)를 이용하여 필요에 따라 다른 형식의 데이타로 변환이 용이한 XML(extensible Markup Language)을 중심으로 통합하는 것이다. 이에 본 논문은 XML 문서의 구조적 정보를 정의하는 XML 스키마(Schema)를 통해 데이타를 제공하는 원본(Source)측과 데이타를 처리하고자 하는 목적(Destination)측의 구조를 나타내고, 이러한 구조정보와 데이타 매핑(Mapping)을 통해 원하는 형태의 구조관계를 정의하며, 정의된 정보를 기반으로 두 구조간의 변환 규칙을 정의한 XSLT 문서를 생성하는 XML 구조 변환 시스템을 설계하고 구현한다. 이렇게 생성된 XSLT 문서를 통해 데이타 처리를 필요로 하는 목적 측의 구조에 맞게 데이타가 재구성 되도록 변환한다. 이렇게, 특정 시스템이나 플랫폼과 관계없이 다양한 구조의 문서를 적용할 수 있게 되고 원하는 형태로의 의미 부여가 가능한 XSLT 문서를 생성하고, 이를 통한 문서간의 변환 처리를 제공하여 데이타의 상호 운용성(Interoperability) 및 확장성을 높이고 XML 문서처리 환경 구축에 기여하는데 목적을 두고 있다.

LuNbO4:Yb3+, Tm3+ 형광체의 근적외선 및 청색 발광 특성 (Near-Infrared and Blue Emissions of LuNbO4:Yb3+, Tm3+ Phosphors)

  • $LuNbO_4:0.2Yb^{3+},xTm^{3+}$ powders were prepared using a solid-state reaction process. The effects of the amount of Tm on up-conversion(UC) and down-conversion(DC) luminescence properties are investigated. X-ray diffraction patterns confirm that $Yb^{3+}$ and $Tm^{3+}$ ions are successfully incorporated into Lu sites. Under 980 nm excitation, the UC spectra of the powders predominantly exhibit strong near-infrared emission bands that peak at 805 nm, whereas weak 480 nm emission bands are observed as well. The emission bands are assigned to the $^1G_4{\rightarrow}^3H_6$ (480 nm) and 3 $^3H_4{\rightarrow}^3H_6$ (805 nm) transitions of the $Tm^{3+}$ ions via an energy transfer from $Yb^{3+}$ to $Tm^{3+}$; two- and three-photon UC processes are responsible for the 805 and 480 nm emissions, respectively. The DC emission spectra exhibit blue emission ($^1D_2{\rightarrow}^3F_4$) of $Tm^{3+}$ at 458 nm. The amount of Tm affects the emission intensity with the strongest emissions at x = 0.007 and 0.02 for the UC and DC luminescence, respectively. The results demonstrate that $LuNbO_4:Yb^{3+},Tm^{3+}$ phosphors are suitable for bio-applications.

  • This paper presents a novel soft-switching PWM utility frequency AC to high frequency AC power conversion circuit incorporating boost-half-bridge inverter topology, which is more suitable and acceptable for cost effective consumer induction heating applications. The operating principle and the operation modes are presented using the switching mode and the operating voltage and current waveforms. The performances of this high-frequency inverter using the latest IGBTs are illustrated, which includes high frequency power regulation and actual efficiency characteristics based on zero voltage soft switching (ZVS) operation ranges and the power dissipation as compared with those of the previously developed high-frequency inverter. In addition, a dual mode control scheme of this high frequency inverter based on asymmetrical pulse width modulation (PWM) and pulse density modulation (PDM) control scheme is discussed in this paper in order to extend the soft switching operation ranges and to improve the power conversion efficiency at the low power settings. The power converter practical effectiveness is substantially proved based on experimental results from practical design example.

The conversion of ammonium uranate prepared via sol-gel synthesis into uranium oxides

  • A combination of simultaneous thermal analysis, evolved gas analysis and non-ambient XRD techniques was used to characterise and investigate the conversion reactions of ammonium uranates into uranium oxides. Two solid phases of the ternary system NH3 - UO3 - H2O were synthesised under specified conditions. Microspheres prepared by the sol-gel method via internal gelation were identified as 3UO3·2NH3·4H2O, whereas the product of a typical ammonium diuranate precipitation reaction was associated to the composition 3UO3·NH3·5H2O. The thermal decomposition profile of both compounds in air feature distinct reaction steps towards the conversion to U3O8, owing to the successive release of water and ammonia molecules. Both compounds are converted into α-U3O8 above 550 ℃, but the crystallographic transition occurs differently. In compound 3UO3·NH3·5H2O (ADU) the transformation occurs via the crystalline β-UO3 phase, whereas in compound 3UO3·2NH3·4H2O (microspheres) an amorphous UO3 intermediate was observed. The new insights obtained on these uranate systems improve the information base for designing and synthesising minor actinide-containing target materials in future applications.

다단계 프로그램에서 프로그램 생성 단계의 자유변수 제거 (Closed-code-conversion: Transforming Open Code Multi-staged Programs into Closed Ones)

  • 다단계 프로그래밍이란 매크로 프로그래밍, 부분 계산(partial evaluation), 실행시간 코드 생성(runtime code generation)등을 포섭하는 일반적인 방법론으로, 계산을 여러 단계로 나누어 각 단계에 주어진 부분 입력을 통해 다음 단계를 전문화(specialize)함으로써 효율적인 계산을 수행하게 해 준다. 다단계 프로그램은 일반적인 계산 외에 코드(다음 단계의 프로그램)를 생성, 조림 및 실행시킬 수 있다. 본 논문은 코드에 자유변수를 허용하는 다단계 프로그램을 코드에 자유변수가 없는 다단계 프로그램으로 변환하는 방법을 제안한다. 코드에 존재하는 자유변수는 동적으로 바인딩(binding)되기 때문에 이를 구현하기 어려운 문제가 있다. 자유변수가 있는 코드는 환경을 입력으로 받는 함수의 코드로 변환하고, 필요한 환경은 코드를 조립하는 시점에 넘겨줌으로써 코드에서 자유변수를 제거할 수 있다. 이렇게 자유변수가 제거된 다단계 프로그램은 Davies와 Pfenning이 제안한 방법에 의해 단계가 없는 람다 계산(lambda-calculus)으로 변환된 후 람다 계산법에 의해 실행되어질 수 있다.
