Variable Structure PWM Controller for Highly Efficient PV Inverters

  • In general, the output voltage level of a PV array varies widely at various irradiances and temperatures. The MPP (Maximum Power Point) range of a medium- or high-power PV PCS is normally 450~830Vdc or 300~600Vdc. This means the PV PCS should operate in a wide range of modulation indexes. The PV PCS should satisfy the harmonic current requirement that the TDD (Total demand distortion) shall not exceed 5%. This paper proposes a new PWM control method for a medium- or high-power PV PCS which increases the efficiency of power conversion in all operation ranges with acceptable harmonic ripple currents. This paper compares and analyzes appropriate PWM schemes for the PV PCS in the view points of conversion efficiency and current harmonics.

85GHz-115Ghz 대 우주전파 관측용 초전도체 믹서 설계 (The design of 85GHz-115Ghz band SIS mixer for the observing cosmic radio waves)

  • We have evaluated the theoretical conversion loss and noise temperature of mixer using the quantum mixer theory and the method to determine the embedding impedance of waveguide-type mixer mount. At fixed backshort position of the mixer, the calculated SSB mixer conversion loss and mixer noise temperature are 5 dB and 10K within frequency range form 85 GHz to 115 GHz, respectively. The SIS mixer has been developed by using through on the calculated rsutls to observe cosmic radio waves. SIS junction of mixer is Nb/Al-AlOx/Nb and it consists of four series array. Area of each of junction is about 2.5${\mu}m^{2}$. The average receiver noise temperature of manufactured receiver with this mixer is about 30 K(DSB). The receiver noise temperature is much lower than that of receiver with a mixer using mechanical tuning backshort.

  • We demonstrated a single balanced mixer of the combination of high-T. superconductor (HTS) and III-V GaAs beam lead Schottky diodes operating in the mini-cryogenic chamber. The HTS hybrid mixer was designed with a center frequency of 27.5 GHz and a bandwidth of 1 GHz, and consisted of a rat-race coupler circuit with beam-lead diodes attached to its balanced ports. The HTS hybrid mixer with 1 GHz RF bandwidths exhibits a conversion loss of 6 dB. A LO-to-RF isolation was greater than 40 dB in the range of operating frequencies. Since the HTS/III-V hybrid mixer devices have lower noise and conversion loss, this technique provide us with new capabilities that can be effectively utilized in the field of local-point distribution service (LMDS) systems.

Design and Implementation of a Single Bias FET Source Mixer

  • A new type of FET source mixer with a single bias voltage has been presented. It is designed to operate at Vds=0 [V] with only one positive supply voltage, which makes mixer circuits simple. The proposed mixer has shown improved stability and less sensitivity to both bias and LO power compared with conventional active mixers. It also shows lower conversion loss than that of diode mixers. The minimum conversion loss measured at RF frequency of 5.6㎓ is 0.6㏈ for a LO frequency of 5.8㎓.

  • Gauss-Jacobi relaxation 方法으로부터 非線形 마이크로波 回路解析 알고리듬을 薄出하고, Harmonic Balance 技法을 應用하여 갈륨비소 쇼트키 障壁 다이오드를 이용한 混合器의 非線形 및 線形 回路解析 方法을 提示하였다. 本 硏究에서의 解析方法으로부터 마이크로波 混合器의 變換損失을 正確히 豫測하고, 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션으로부터 MMIC設計에 有用함을 보였다. 寬察로 Ku-밴드用 混合器를 MIC로 設計, 製作하여 시뮬레이션 結果의 妥當性을 立證하였다.

  • This paper presents a control method for grid-connected Active-NPC inverter systems. NPC (Neutral Point Clamped) is widely used in power conversion systems. NPC has a loss of switching elements and voltage imbalance. Active NPC has been proposed to overcome these drawbacks. ANPC changed the neutral diode to IGBT to reduce the switching loss. This paper modeled a grid-connected Acitve-NPC inverter systems and analyzed its performance. DSOGI PLL was used as a phase control method for precise control of grid link voltage. The proposed method is verified by PSIM simulation.

  • Photovoltaic solar cells are all in the incident because they are not converted into electrical energy, high-efficiency solar cells in order to reduce the loss of elements must be. Significant factor in the loss of solar cells, optical loss and electrical loss can be divided into. Optical losses occur when the sun will be joined on the surface of the reflection, the shadow loss due to electrodes, and the losses are in the solar wavelengths. Commercialization is currently the most common solar cells on the front of the light incident on the electrode is formed. Therefore, the shadow caused by the electrode to cover the dead area of the sun, due to factors that hinder the absorption of sunlight which is shadowing them and conversion efficiency of solar cells is the inhibition factor. These barriers to eliminate the electrode linewidth reduces the shadowing to reduce, but simply of the electrode line width is reduced electrode area by reducing the series resistance elevates this because to improve the electrode Aspect ratio(height/width) to increase Ag development of paste is required. In this study, aspect ratio of screen-printing method to increase the electrode Ag paste composition of the binder for the characterization of rheology in the shadow of the electrode by reducing the optical loss of the photoelectric conversion efficiency of solar cells to boost the performance measures was. Properties and printability of the paste, the binder resin sintered characteristics that affect the thermal properties are excellent with a good screen printability acrylic resin, ethyl cellulose, using a resin were evaluated. Prepared paste rheology properties, was formed to evaluate the electrode conductivity and aspect ratio.

평판형 발룬을 이용한 단일 평형 광대역 주파수 혼합기의 설계 및 제작 (Design and Fabrication of a Wideband Single-Balanced-Mixer using Planar Balun)

  • 본 논문에서는 고주파 계측장비의 RF 수신단에 응용 가능한 광대역 주파수 혼합기를 다이오드를 이용한 단일 평형형으로 설계, 제작하였다. 광대역의 특성을 만족시키기 위하여 등평면 도파관(coplanar waveguide) 과 슬롯라인(slotline)의 신호천이률 이용한 평판형의 발룬(balun)을 이용하여 LO선호를 다이오드에 작은 손 실을 갖고 인가시켰다. 그리고 LO 신호에 대한 격리도를 향상시키기 위해 RF단과 IF단은 방향성 결합기를 이용하여 구성하였다. 제작된 광대역 주파수 혼합기의 측정결과 9 kHz-2.6 GHz의 광대역 RF선호에 대해 변환손실(conversion loss)이 30.5-31.17 dB의 값으로 그 평탄도가 1 dB 이내로 나타났고 LO 선호에 대해 30 dB 이상의 격리도(isolation)첼 나타내였다.

  • Power conversion system must be increased swiching frequency in order to achieve a small size, a light weight and a low noise, However, the swiches of converter are subjected to high switching power losses and switching stresses. As a result of those, the power system brings on a low efficiency. In this paper, the authors propose a DC-DC boost converter of high power by partial resonant switch method (PRSM). The switching devices in a proposed circuit are operated with soft swiching and the control technique of those is simplified for switch to drive in constant duty cycle. The partial resonant circuit makes use of a inductor suing step up and a condenser of loss-less snubber. Also the circuit has a merit which is taken to increase of efficiency, as if makes to a regeneration at input source of accumulated energy in snubber condenser without loss of snubber in conventional cirvuit. The result is the the switching loss is very low and the efficiency of system is high. The proposed converter is deemed the most suitable for high power applications where the power switching devices are used.

고효율 및 고역률 LED 구동회로 위한 Balanced Forward-Flyback 컨버터 (Balanced Forward-Flyback Converter for High Efficiency and High Power Factor LED Driver)

  • A balanced forward-flyback converter for high efficiency and high power factor using a foward and flyback converter topologies is proposed in this paper. The conventional AC/DC flyback converter can achieve a good power factor but it has the high offset current through the transformer magnetizing inductor, which results in a large core loss and low power conversion efficiency. And, the conventional forward converter can achieve the good power conversion efficiency with the aid of the low core loss but the input current dead zone near zero cross AC input voltage deteriorates the power factor. On the other hand, since the proposed converter can operate as the forward and flyback converters during switch turn-on and turn-off periods, respectively, it cannot only perform the power transfer during an entire switching period but also achieve the high power factor due to the flyback operation. Moreover, since the current balanced capacitor can minimize the offset current through the transformer magnetizing inductor regardless of the AC input voltage, the core loss and volume of the transformer can be minimized. Therefore, the proposed converter features a high efficiency and high power factor. To confirm the validity of the proposed converter, theoretical analysis and experimental results from a prototype of 24W LED driver are presented.
