  • An integrated guidance scheme for guided weapon system is described in this paper. Against conventional guidance methods, this method combines an autopilot and a guidance law. The controller is designed using LQ regulator whose performance index is different from other optimal guidance laws. Since dynamics of the system is considered in the derivation, the controller performance is improved. By simulation, the suggested method shows better performance in minimum distance sense than conventional guidance schemes such as Bang Bang guidance or Pursuit Guidance. Since the suggested method provides smooth rudder deflection in contrast to the conventional method, the load on a energy source of the system can be greatly lessened.

열보조 자기기록 시스템의 로드/언로드 분석 (Analysis of load/unload process in HAMR system with light delivery)

  • To investigate of load/unload performance, FE (finite element) model of conventional suspension and HAMR suspension were made. The FE models were verified by modal analysis. In the loading simulation, the conventional system could stably load onto the disk without contact. On the other hand, the HAMR suspension which had an optical fiber and prism occurred slider - disk contact. In the unloading process, the conventional system was unloaded without contact. However, in the HAMR suspension, the contact between slider and disk was occurred at the moment that the dimple was separated during unload process. Therefore the load/unload performance of HAMR decrease with high stiffness, it is necessary that stiffness of HAMR suspension should reduced with design parameters of optical fiber and prism.

  • This paper presents a multirate state feedback control (MRSFC) method for systems sensitive to disturbance and noise based on the multirate estimator design using the current estimator. MRSFC updates the controller output slower than the measurement sampling frequency of system output by a lifting factor R=T$\sub$c//T$\sub$s/. The closed-loop MRSFC system is less sensitive to disturbance and noise due to filtering effect than the conventional single-rate control system. The multirate estimator gain is obtained from solving a conventional pole placement problem such that MRSFC has the same spectrum of eigenvalues in the s-plane as the single-rate control. We applied the proposed multirate state feedback controller to a galvanometer servo system. Simulation and experimental results show that settling and tracking performances are improved compared with a conventional single-rate pole placement control (PPC).

  • CBTC(Communication Based Train Control) System has many superior train control performances than conventional track-circuit-based train control system with higher train operation efficiency, and less installation and maintenance cost. It is expected that CBTC will replace the conventional train control systems in near future. As CBTC has different mechanisms from conventional track-circuit-based train control systems in identifying train positions, and communicating information between train and ground facility, we have to pay a carful attention to making the interface between CBTC equipments and other signalling devices. This paper provides the construction of the interface between CBTC train-born equipment and other train control equipments including ATO, TCMS, brake controller, door controller.

Application of FESS Controller for Load Frequency Control

  • This paper presents the effect on application of the flywheel energy storage system (FESS) for load frequency control (LFC) of an interconnected 2 area power system. To do this, the control characteristics with the FESS were compared with that of the conventional governor controller. The controller for the FESS control and the governor control used a PID type controller. Both the FESS PID controller and the governor PID controller using genetic algorithm (GA) were designed to optimize the PID parameters. The frequency and generation output characteristics with the only FESS controller and with the only conventional governor controller were compared. To verify robust performance of the FESS controller, the computer simulations were performed under various disturbances. The simulation results showed that the FESS controller provided better dynamic responses in comparison with the conventional governor controller.

New Fault Location Algorithms by Direct Analysis of Three-Phase Circuit Using Matrix Inverse Lemma for Unbalanced Distribution Power Systems

  • Unbalanced systems, such as distribution systems, have difficulties in fault locations due to single-phase laterals and loads. This paper proposes new fault locations developed by the direct three-phase circuit analysis algorithms using matrix inverse lemma for the line-to-ground fault case and the line-to-line fault case in unbalanced systems. The fault location for balanced systems has been studied using the current distribution factor, by a conventional symmetrical transformation, but that for unbalanced systems has not been investigated due to their high complexity. The proposed algorithms overcome the limit of the conventional algorithm using the conventional symmetrical transformation, which requires the balanced system and are applicable to any power system but are particularly useful for unbalanced distribution systems. Their effectiveness has been proven through many EMTP simulations.

초전도케이블이 병입된 계통의 고장에 대한 보호협조 검토기법 (A study result on coordinative protection method of HTS cable implemented distribution system)

  • This paper proposes a coordinative protection study results of 22.9kV HTS(High-Temperature Superconducting) cable implemented distribution system. HTS cable can provide about 5 times larger transfer capacability compare to conventional XLPE cable, however, it has different heat characteristic so called quench. This paper presents the simulation results on Ichun substation HTS cable which connects main transformer and 22.9kV bus. Various expected fault cases are considered and discussed to examine whether conventional protection scheme is effective to protect both of existing facilities and HTS cable. With the results of simulation, conventional protection scheme can be used if instantaneous element and time inverse elements could be adjusted with proper time coordination. Internal temperatures of HTS cable conductor in safe region with proper protection without quench. This results are to be demonstrated by the field test and will be implemented in Ichon substation HTS cable protection and control system.

  • The purpose of this paper is concerned with a battery type powered handpiece drive system for surgical operation. Battery type powered surgical handpiece is suitable for delicate surgical operating. The conventional air-type handpiece has a mechanical noise, a strong oscillation and a danger of infection. And the conventional contact switching type handpiece has problems that is restricted by surroundings. By reason of this kind, we studied noncontact switching type surgical handpiece to change conventional air type surgical handpiece and contact switching type. Also in this paper we develop the battery type power handpiece drive system for surgical operation using controller IC UC3625 of UNITRODE CO. Finally some experimental and simulation results are provided to demonstrate the validity of the proposed battery type power handpiece drive system.

초고해상도 양전자 방출 CT의 쐐기형 검출기에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Wedge shape Detector of Very High Resolution Positron Emission computer Tomography)

  • 양전자 방출 CT에서는 고해상도를 얻기 위해서 즙은 폭의 검출기와 충분히 큰 검출효률이 동시에 요구된다. 검출기의 폭을 수 mm까지 줄이면 검출기준이 급감소하고 누설률이 급상승하여 이를 사용함이 인난하여진다. 특히 사각으로 입사하는 포톤의 경우 후각하다. 이를 해결하는 방법으로 쐐기형 검출기를 제안하였고 이에 관련된 문제들을 탐구하였다. 4∼8mm BGO 검출기의 쐐기형을 사용한 시스템이 종미 요육양체형을 사용한 시스템보다 해상도가 증가하였다. 예를들면 회 8mm의 BGO 검출기 200개를 난제하게 배치한 시스템이 이점 샘플링할 경우 쐐기형의 해상도가 5.4mm FWHM으로 같은 조건의 직육면체형의 6.6mm FWHM보다 향상됨을 시뮬레이션으로 확인하였다. 3∼7mm FWHM의 초고해상도 시스템의 검출기에 대하여 형태와 크기에 따른 특성도 시뮬레이션으로 구하여 제시하였다. The high resolution of positron emission tomography, in particular, requires the use of detector crystals of narrow width but still with sufficiently high detection efficiency. If the crystal width is reduced to several millimeters, degradation of detection efficiency and leakage coefficient becomes significant, particularly in case of obliquely incident photons. Alleviation of such a problem can be made possible by modification of the detector shape from the conventional rectangular type to a wed농e type. The Proposed wedge shape makes the absorption length longer for obliquely incident photons, thus increasing the detection efficiency and suppressing leakage coefficient. For the BGO detectors of 4-8mm width, the computer simulation result of the system using wedge detectors reveals resolution improvement to the system using conventional detectors. For the system composed of 200 BGO detectors of 8mm width with 2 point sampling motion, the simulation resolution system using conventional detectors. For the very high resolution system of 3-7mm FWHM, the characteristics of the detector shape and size is studied by computer simulation.

Performance of the R-way Colposcopic Evaluation System in Cervical Cancer Screening

  • Objective: To investigate the diagnostic value of the R-way colposcopic evaluation system (R-way system) in cervical cancer screening. Materials and Methods: Between August 2013 and August 2014, a total of 1,059 cases referred to colposcopy in Peking University First Hospital were studied using both the R-way system and conventional colposcopy. Our study evaluated and compared the diagnostic ability of the two methods in detecting high-grade lesions and cervical cancer (hereinafter called CIN2+). Evaluation indicators including sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV), Youden index and the area under the curve (AUC) of the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) were calculated. Results: The R-way system had a slightly lower specificity (94.5%) than conventional colposcopy (96.0%) for CIN2+ detection (P=0.181). However, the sensitivity (77.8%) was significantly higher than with the conventional colposcopic method (46.6%) (${\chi}^2=64.351$, P<0.001). In addition, the AUC of the ROC for CIN2+ detection using the R-way system (0.839) was larger than that with conventional colposcopy (0.731) (Z=4.348, P<0.001). If preliminary result had been drawn from cervical exfoliated cytology before colposcopy referral, combination of the R-way system with cytology could increase the sensitivity to 93.9% for CIN2+ detection (excluding ASCUS\LSIL), confirmed by multipoint biopsy or ECC. Conclusions: The diagnostic value of the R-way evaluation system is higher than that of conventional colposcopic evaluation in cervical cancer screening. Moreover, taking the ease of use and standardized quality control management into account, the R-way system is highly preferable.
