  • In this paper, the author analyzed the characteristics of cycle Economy which is a key concept of current Japanese environmental policy. The Japanese government has adopted the Eco Town Project in order to grow up vein industry. But it is not clear that Eco lown project alms to create cycle society or sustainable society. When considering the location of vein industries, it is important to consider how efficient this industry collects wastes and develops a recycling goods market. Present Japanese law requires the people and companies to reduce waste. As a result, conventional manufacturing discharges waste this is too massive for vein industry to dispose of or recycle.

  • This paper explains development status of the Korean tilting train. The Korean Tilting Train eXpress (TTX) project has been carried out to develop all the core technologies related to tilting train and infra-technology to provide high speed inter-city service with the speed of 180 km/h as well as maintenance-free technology for conventional railway system. The TTX project is under 5th stage. In this stage, manufacturing and combination test for the main components are being conducted. By the end of next year, assembly of TTX will be completed.

  • This paper addresses the outlines of the traffic signal timing principles engaged in TRACS and the results of field test. Research team, encompassing research institute, university, and electronic company, conducted the three-year project for developing the new system, named TRACS(Traffic Adaptive Control System). The project was successfully completed in 1994. TRACS aims at accomplishing the objectives of better traffic adaptability and more reliable travel time prediction. TRACS operates in real-time adjusting signal timings throughout the system in response to variations in traffic demand and system capacity. The purpose of TRACS is to control traffic on an area basis rather than on an isolated intersection basis. An other purpose of TRACS is to provide real-time road traffic information such as volume, speed, delay , travel time, and so on. The performance of the first version of TRACS was compared to the conventional TOD control through field test. The test result was promi ing in that TRACS consistantly outperformed the conventional control method. The change of signaltiming reacted timely to the variation of traffic demand. Extensive operational test of TRACS will be conducted this year, and some functions will be enhanced.

  • The Case Study prepared by PCPA and Lift Group will identify a growing development problem in urban areas; high value project sites that are restrictive in size or "tight" are underutilized and underdeveloped. In an effort to remedy this problem, our team will evaluate a design program through the lens of both conventional construction and Core Cantilever Construction. It is also important to differentiate between Core Cantilever construction and the plagued "Lift Slab" construction method as they may be confused, due to the top down construction sequence. This article will demonstrate that constraints inherent to conventional construction techniques prohibit economically viable development of these project sites, while Core Cantilever construction methods increase the projects value by reducing construction timelines and increasing the useable floor area.

  • Improvement projects has been progressed for railway electrification and double track line in the conventional line as well as high speed line for the high speed and large transportation capability of railway. Especially, many variable operation plans are possible such as interaction between high speed line and conventional line and operation of tilting train due to the electrification of the conventional line. Railway electrification is more energy efficient and environmentally-friendly, but it has some problems such as an enormous initial construction and maintenance costs and electrical accidents. Therefore, the more intensive research will be progressed about railway electrification effectiveness for the continuous electrification project. So, we analyzed railway electrification effectiveness about the energy side using annual operation data of electric car and diesel car. The energy side was divided into energy costs and national energy consumption for analyzing electrification effectiveness about entire line and specific line. We verified advantage of energy costs and national energy consumption in this paper and this result will contribute to the progress of the continuous electrification project and the more efficient operation ways in electrification line

Carbon-Nanotube FED;Japanese National Project

  • The Japanese National Project "Carbon Nanotube FED" is developing a high image-quality and low power-consumption field emission display (FED) by applying carbon nanotube (CNT) to the electron source. A uniform electron source with a flat-film CNTs and fine structure triodes Fir suppressing the deviation of emission is required. For realizing an FED panel, it is also necessary to develop the glass-bulb technologies for vacuum sealing, and display technologies for driving the panel by circuit electronic and for evaluating the picture quality by measuring. By achieving these technologies, an FED compatible with conventional Cathode Ray Tubes (CRTs) will be realized.

  • For the detection of transient sources in optical wide field surveys like KMTNet Supernova Project, difference imaging technique is commonly used. As this method produces a fair amount of false positives, it is also common to utilize machine learning algorithms to screen likely true positives. While deep learning methods such as a convolutional neural network has been successfully applied recently, its application can be limited if the size of the training sample is small. I will discuss a variation of more conventional method that adopts the wavelet transform for feature engineering and its performance.

  • The concept of portfolio is rarely understood and used in R&D management field. The conventional management technique in selecting R&D projects is scoring each projects and choosing projects based on the scores which are determined during evaluation. As a collection of good stocks is not necessarily a good stock portfolio, a collection of good R&D projects is not always a good R&D project portfolio. In this paper, framework and practical technique for constructing a R&D project portfolio are introduced. This technique can be easily applied in private and plublic R&D institutes.

Spatial Pattern and Environmental Improvement of the Conventional Market in Small Town (소도읍 재래시장의 공간유형과 환경개선에 대한 연구)

  • The conventional markets in small towns have showed a different trend, compared with those of urban district. As the conventional markets, which are located in urban districts, are being depressed, those in small towns are being activated by each local government. The activation of conventional market is being recognized as an important means for developing communities, and the project for fostering conventional market is being competitively carried out by each local government. The active center of conventional market is constituted centering on the central area of the market. However, in case of the small towns' conventional markets, it is known that the market site, which is secured at market day, heavily influences on the central area. Thus, in order that the small towns' conventional markets may be activated, securing territories of conventional markets and market site should be considered. Altogether, in order to activate the conventional markets, some conclusions were derived as follows: Expanding market site through improving the usability of space by territories, Controlling peddlers by territories and balancing business items, Amplifying the convenient facilities for users, Securing and improving the central area, Standardizing the facilities that were installed by stores and peddlers.
