A Study on Development of ATCS for Automated Stacking Crane using Neural Network Predictive Control

  • For a traveling crane, various control methods such as neural network predictive control and TDOFPID(Two Degree of Freedom Proportional Integral Derivative) are studied. So in this paper, we proposed improved navigation method to reduce transfer time and sway with anti-collision path for avoiding collision in its movement to the finial coordinate. And we constructed the NNPPID(Neural Network Predictive PID) controller to control the precise move and speedy navigation. The proposed predictive control system is composed of the neural network predictor, TDOFPID controller, and neural network self-tuner. We analyzed ASC(Automated Stacking Crane) system and showed some computer simulations to prove excellence of the proposed controller than other conventional controllers.

인공신경망을 이용한 병렬로봇의 정밀한 추적제어 (Precise Tracking Control of Parallel Robot using Artificial Neural Network)

  • This paper presents a precise tracking control scheme for the proposed parallel robot using artificial neural network. This control scheme is composed of three feedback controllers and one feedforward controller. Conventional PD controller and artificial neural network are used as feedback and feedforward controller respectively. A backpropagation learning strategy is applied to the training of artificial neural network, and PD controller outputs are used as target outputs. The PD controllers are designed at the robot dynamics based on inter-relationship between active joints and moving platform. Feedback controllers insure the total stability of system, and feedforward controller generates the control signal for trajectory tracking. The precise tracking performance of proposed control scheme is proved by computer simulation.

  • A new approach to reliability analysis of rubble mound breakwater using neural network is proposed. At first, a neural network model which can estimate the stability number of any breakwaters for some design conditions is trained. Then, the neural network model is integrated with Monte Carlo simulation technique in order to calculate probability of failure for the breakwater. The proposed technique is compared with conventional approach using empirical formula.

  • In this paper, we proposes the steps adopted to construct the neural network model for GMAW welds. Conventional, automated process generally involves sophisticated sensing and control techniques applied to various processing parameters. Welding parameters are influenced by numerous factors, such as welding current, arc voltage, torch travel speed, electrode condition and shielding gas type and flow rate etc. In traditional work, the structural mathematical models have been used to represent this relationship. Contrary to the traditional model method, neural network models are based on non-parametric modeling techniques. For the welding process modeling, the non-linearity at well as the coupled input characteristics makes it apparent that the neural network is probably the most suitable candidate for this task. Finally, a suitable proposal to improve the construction of the model has also been presented in the paper.

  • A high impedance fault(HIF) in a power system could be due to a downed conductor, and is a dangerous situation because the current may be too small to be detected by conventional means. In this paper, HIF(High impedance fault) and LIF(Low impedance fault) detection methods were reviewed. No single defection method can detect all electrical conditions resulting from downed conductor faults, because high impedance fault have arc phenomena, asymmetry and randomness. Neural network are well-suited for solving difficult signal processing and pattern recognition problem. This paper presents the application of artificial neural network(ANN) to detect the HIF and LIF. Test results show that the neural network was able to identify the high impedance fault by real-time operation. Furthermore, neural network was able to discriminate the HIF from the LIF.

  • Artificial neural network has been used for damage assessment by many researchers, but there are still some barriers that must be overcome to improve its accuracy and efficiency. The major problems with the conventional neural network are the necessity of many training patterns for neural network teaming process and ambiguity in the relationship of neural network structure to the convergence of solution. In this paper, the PNN is used as a pattern classifier to detect the damages of the railway bridge using dynamic response. The comparison between the mode shape and the natural frequency of structure as training pattern is investigated for approriate selection of the training pattern in the damage detection of railway bridge using the PNN.

  • The neural network predictive controller(NNPC) is proposed for the attempt to mimic the function of brain that forecasts the future. It consists of two loops, one is for the prediction of output(Neural Network Predictor) and the other one is for control the plant(Neural Network Controller). The output of NNC makes the control input of plant, which is followed by the variation of both plant error and prediction error. The NNP forecasts the future output based upon the current control input and the estimated control output. The method is applied to the control of temperature in boiler systems. The proposed NNPC is compared with the other conventional control methods such as PID controller, neural network controller with specialized learning architecture, and one-step-ahead controller. The computer simulation and experimental results show that the proposed method has better performances than the other methods.

  • The paper proposes a novel control algorithm for tracking maximum power of PV generation system.. The maximum power of PV array is determinated by a insolation and temperature. Prior considered the term in PV generation system is how maximum power point(MPP) is accurately tracked.. The paper proposes a fuzzy neural network(FNN) control algorithm so as to accurately track those maximum power points. The proposed control algorithm comprises the antecedence part of fuzzy rule and clustering method, multi-layer neural network in the consequent part. FNN has the advantages which are depicted both high performance and robustness in fuzzy control and high adaptive control in neural network.. Specially, it can show the outstanding control performance for parameter variations appling to non-linear character of PV array. In this paper, the tracking speed and the accuracy prove the validity through comparing a proposed algorithm with a conventional one.

  • This paper proposes a design of the tracking controller using artificial neural network and the compare the result with a result of optimal controller. In practical use, conventional Optimal controller has some limits. First, optimal controller can be designed only for linear system. Second, for many systems state observation is difficult or sometimes impossible. But the controller using artificial neural network does not need mathmatical model of the system including state observation, so it can be used for both linear and nonlinear system with no additional cost for nonlinearity. Designed multi layer neural network controller is composed of two parts, feedforward controller gives a steady state input & feedback controller gives transient input via minimizing the quadratic cost function. From the comparison of the results of the simulation of linear & nonlinear plant, the plant controlled by using neural network controller shows the trajectory similar to that of the plant controlled by an optimal controller.

  • Recently Neural Network techniques have widely used in adaptive and learning control schemes for production systems. However, generally it costs a lot of time for learning in the case applied in control system. Furthermore, the physical meaning of neural networks constructed as a result is not obvious. And this method has been used as a learning algorithm to estimate the parameter of a neural network used for identification of the process dynamics of s signal input and signal output system and it was shown that this method offered superior capability over the conventional back propagation algorithm. This controller is designed by using three-layered neural networks. The effectiveness of the proposed Neural Network-based control scheme is investigated through an application for a production control system. This control method can enable a plant to operate smoothy and obviously as the plant condition varies with any unexpected accident. This paper goal estimate input signal about controller using neural networks.
