This paper presents a new edge detection algorithm in color image. The proposed Adaptive morphological Wavelet-CNN algorithm is divided into two parts : The Adaptive morpholog and WCNN(Wavelet Cellular Neural Networks). It detects the optimal edge with applying this color image to WCNN algorithm, after it does level up a boundary side of a color image by using the adaptive morphology as the threshold of an input color image. Also, it is used not a conventional fixed mask edge detection method but variable mask method which is called a variable BBM. Finally, to show the feasibility of the proposed algorithm, this paper provides by simulation that the color image consists of 30.

This paper presents a fire detection algorithm using color and motion models from video sequences. The proposed method detects change in color and motion of overall regions for detecting fire, and thus, it can be implemented in both fixed and pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) cameras. The proposed algorithm consists of three parts. The first part exploits color models of flames and smoke. The candidate regions in the video frames are extracted with the hue-saturation-value (HSV) color model. The second part models the motion information of flames and smoke. Optical flow in the fire candidate region is estimated, and the spatial-temporal distribution of optical flow vectors is analyzed. The final part accumulates the probability of fire in successive video frames, which reduces false-positive errors when fire-like color objects appear. Experimental results from 100 fire videos are shown, where various types of smoke and flames appear in indoor and outdoor environments. According to the experiments and the comparison, the proposed fire detection algorithm works well in various situations, and outperforms the conventional algorithms.

In the field of content-based image retrieval, many numerical features have been proposed for representing visual image content such as color, torture, and shape. Because the features are assumed to be independent, each of them is extracted without ny consideration of the others. In this paper, we consider the relationship between color and texture and propose a new feature called CCE(channel color energy). Simulation results with natural images show that the proposed method outperforms the conventional regular weighted comparison method and SCFT(sequential chromatic Fourier transform)-based color torture method.
Most commercial digital still cameras use a single sensor array (e.g., CMOS or CCD) with color filter array (CFA) to reduce the cost and size. Since the image obtained with CFA has only one color value per pixel, the demosaicing is needed to acquire missing two color values. Although many demosaicing methods have been proposed, they still have artifacts such as rainbow and zippering artifact. In this paper, we propose the simple demosaicing algorithm using tendency of neighbor pixels with the enhanced weighting function. In the experimental results, our algorithm shows much better subjective qualities of the images than conventional demosaicing algorithm and improves objective qualities.

Purpose. This in-vitro study evaluated and compared the color stability of 3D-printed and conventional heat-polymerized acrylic resins following aging, mechanical brushing, and immersion in staining medium. Materials and methods. Forty disc-shaped specimens (10 mm in diameter and 3 mm thick) were prepared from two 3D-printed [DentaBASE (DB) and Denture 3D+ (D3D)] and one conventional polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) denture materials. The specimens were thermo-cycled, subjected to mechanical brushing, and were immersed in either coffee, lemon juice, coke, or artificial saliva (AS) to simulate one and two years of oral use. Color measurements of the specimens were recorded by a spectrophotometer at baseline (T0), and after one (T1) and two years (T2) of simulation. The color changes (ΔE) were determined and also quantified according to the National Bureau of Standards (NBS) units. Descriptive statistics, followed by factorial ANOVA and Bonferroni post-hoc test (α=.05), were applied for data analysis. Results. The independent factors, namely material, staining medium, and immersion time, and interaction among these factors significantly influenced ΔE (P<.009). Irrespective of the materials, treatments, and time, the highest and the lowest mean ΔEs were observed for PMMA in lemon juice (4.58 ± 1.30) and DB in AS (0.41 ± 0.18), respectively. Regarding the material type, PMMA demonstrated the highest mean ΔE (2.31 ± 1.37), followed by D3D (1.67 ± 0.66), and DB (0.85 ± 0.52), and the difference in ΔE between the materials were statistically significant (P<.001). All the specimens demonstrated a decreased color changes at T2 compared to T1, and this difference in mean ΔE was statistically significant (P<.001). Conclusion. The color changes of 3D-printed denture resins were low compared to conventional heat polymerized PMMA. All the tested materials, irrespective of the staining medium used, demonstrated a significant decrease in ΔE values over time.
The effluent from conventional nightsoil treatment plants contains nutrients, color and chlorides, in addition to residual organics and suspended solids, and thereby causes substantial pollution problems in receving water resources. In order to verify the usefullness of electrolysis in removing those residual pollutants from such conventional nightsoil treatment plant effluent, a bench scale experiment was conducted using sufficiently dilluted human nightsoil as experiment feeds. The result showed mean removals of 45% of total phosphorus and 85% of color, in addition 87% of residual BOD, 47% of residual COD and 85% of residual SS. The optimum electric current was found to be 15 ampere and the optimum hydraulic residence time 21/2 hour.
We investigated the effect of Xe content variation on the luminous efficiency of two different sub-pixel types, i.e., segmented electrode in delta color arrayed enclosed sub-pixel (SDE) and conventional stripe barrier type, in an ac plasma display panel through three-dimensional numerical simulations. The conventional cell type was found to have higher VUV generation efficiency as compared with that of SDE structure, but as the Xe content increased, the SDE type showed higher improvements in efficiency due to the lower plasma loss to the barrier walls.

The aim of this study was to develop an ultrasonic tooth-whitening apparatus using piezoelectric transducers, which enhance bleaching efficiency by applying ultrasound, while performing a teeth whitening procedure. For this purpose, an ultrasonic transducer was designed and manufactured, and the effects of reduction in the whitening material's concentration and in the whitening treatment time through using the ultrasound cavitation phenomenon were confirmed. Also, the validity of this study was investigated by comparing the whitening performance with a commercialized optical whitener, through color comparison. The results revealed that the ultrasound whitener produced color values that were enhanced by as much as double that of the conventional LED light whitening method. Even when the operational time was reduced by half, the ultrasound method showed superior performance by over 54% compared to the conventional light whitener, revealing that the ultrasound method showed a remarkable treatment reduction effect.
Lip reading is a field of image processing to assist the process of sound recognition. In some environment, the capture of sound signal usually has significant noise and therefore, the recognition rate of sound signal decreases. Lip reading can be a good feature for the increase of recognition rates. Conventional lip extraction methods have been proposed widely. Maia et. al. proposed a method by the sum of Cr and Cb. However, there are two problems as follows: the point with maximum saturation is not always regarded as lips region and the inner part of lips such as oral cavity and teeth can be classified as lips. To solve these problems, this paper proposes a method which adopts the histogram-based classifier for the extraction of lips region. The proposed method consists of two stages, learning and test. The amount of computation is minimized because this method has no color conversion. The performance of proposed method gives 66.8% of detection rate compared to 28% of conventional ones.

The studies to estimate the surface spectral reflectance of an object have received widespread attention using the multi-spectral camera system. However, the multi-spectral camera system requires the additional color filter according to increment of the channel and system complexity is increased by multiple capture. Thus, this paper proposes an algorithm to reduce the estimation error of surface spectral reflectance with the conventional 3-band RGB camera. In the proposed method, adaptive principal components for each pixel are calculated by renewing the population of surface reflectances and the adaptive principal components can reduce estimation error of surface spectral reflectance of current pixel. To evacuate performance of the proposed estimation method, 3-band principal component analysis, 5-band wiener estimation method, and the proposed method are compared in the estimation experiment with the Macbeth ColorChecker. As a result, the proposed method showed a lower mean square ems between the estimated and the measured spectra compared to the conventional 3-band principal component analysis method and represented a similar or advanced estimation performance compared to the 5-band wiener method.
