Visual object tracking is a challenging area of study in the field of computer vision due to many difficult problems, including a fast variation of target shape, occlusion, and arbitrary ground truth object designation. In this paper, we focus on the reinforced feature of the dynamic search area to get better performance than conventional discriminative model prediction trackers on the condition when the accuracy deteriorates since low feature discrimination. We propose a reinforced input feature method shown like the spotlight effect on the dynamic search area of the target tracking. This method can be used to improve performances for deep learning based discriminative model prediction tracker, also various types of trackers which are used to infer the center of the target based on the visual object tracking. The proposed method shows the improved tracking performance than the baseline trackers, achieving a relative gain of 38% quantitative improvement from 0.433 to 0.601 F-score at the visual object tracking evaluation.

In this paper, we propose a new free-view three-dimensional (3D) computational reconstruction of integral imaging to improve the visual quality of reconstructed 3D images when low-resolution elemental images are used. In a conventional free-view reconstruction, the visual quality of the reconstructed 3D images is insufficient to provide 3D information to applications because of the shift and sum process. In addition, its processing speed is slow. To solve these problems, our proposed method uses a pixel rearrangement technique (PERT) with locally selective elemental images. In general, PERT can reconstruct 3D images with a high visual quality at a fast processing speed. However, PERT cannot provide a free-view reconstruction. Therefore, using our proposed method, free-view reconstructed 3D images with high visual qualities can be generated when low-resolution elemental images are used. To show the feasibility of our proposed method, we applied it to optical experiments.

Exact histogram specification (EHS) transforms the histogram of an input image into the specified histogram. In the conventional EHS techniques, the pixels are first sorted according to their graylevels, and the pixels that have the same graylevel are further differentiated according to the local average of the pixel values and the edge strength. The strictly ordered pixels are then mapped to the desired histogram. However, since the conventional sorting method is inherently dependent on the initial graylevel-based sorting, the contrast enhancement capability of the conventional EHS algorithms is restricted. We propose a modified EHS algorithm considering the just noticeable difference. In the proposed algorithm, the edge pixels are pre-processed such that the output edge pixels obtained by the modified EHS can result in the local contrast enhancement. Moreover, we introduce a new sorting method for the pixels that have the same graylevel. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm provides better image enhancement performance compared to the conventional EHS algorithms.

Very often, one would like to have visual image of mechanical or acoustical events such as musical sound and transient vibrations. Conventional methods to visualize the signal, such as power spectrum, do not normally allow to cultivate the signal of interests due to their inherent limitation on transient signals. Other than the conventional method, one could use an instantaneous frequency which can reveal the variation of frequency in terms of time. Nevertheless it is quite sensitive to noise and can not resolve the frequency components of signals; normally produces additional components other than those of the signals. In this paper, we introduce the Wigner-Ville spectrum to see the transient characteristics of signal, especially musical sound and transient mechanical vibration signatures. For musical sound, several popular western classic music have been selected for the analysis. For the transient mechanical signature, the signals obtained from the car door experiment and the beam experiment are interpreted in terms of Wigner-Ville spectrum. Results demonstrate the visual expressions of transient signals; musical sound and vibrations.
In the near future, traditional narrow and fixed viewpoint video services will be replaced by high-quality panorama video services. This paper proposes a visual-attention-aware progressive region of interest (RoI) trick mode streaming service (VA-PRTS) that prioritizes video data to transmit according to the visual attention and transmits prioritized video data progressively. VA-PRTS enables the receiver to speed up the time to display without degrading the perceptual quality. For the proposed VA-PRTS, this paper defines a cutoff visual attention metric algorithm to determine the quality of the encoded video slice based on the capability of visual attention and the progressive streaming method based on the priority of RoI video data. Compared to conventional methods, VA-PRTS increases the bitrate saving by over 57% and decreases the interactive delay by over 66%, while maintaining a level of perceptual video quality. The experiment results show that the proposed VA-PRTS improves the quality of the viewer experience for interactive panoramic video streaming services. The development results show that the VA-PRTS has highly practical real-field feasibility.
Visual servoing is the fusion of results from many elemental areas including high-speed image processing, kinematics, dynamics, control theory, and real-time computing. It has much in common with research into active vision and structure from motion, but is quite different from the often described use of vision in hierarchical task-level robot control systems. We present a new approach to visual feedback control using image-based visual servoing with the stereo vision in this paper. In order to control the position and orientation of a robot with respect to an object, a new technique is proposed using a binocular stereo vision. The stereo vision enables us to calculate an exact image Jacobian not only at around a desired location but also at the other locations. The suggested technique can guide a robot manipulator to the desired location without giving such priori knowledge as the relative distance to the desired location or the model of an object even if the initial positioning error is large. This paper describes a model of stereo vision and how to generate feedback commands. The performance of the proposed visual servoing system is illustrated by the simulation and experimental results and compared with the case of conventional method for dual-arm robot made in Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.
At a time of emphasized need for user-oriented design, methods such as Post Occupancy Evaluation are being used to measure the exact demands of the users. The conventional methods, however, have mostly been conducted based on questionnaires printed on paper, which has posed numerous problems in researches designed to measure the visual demands. Along with the continued development of the internet and computer media, there have been examples of interactive media applications as a means of improving the existing paper-based research methods. This study is a follow-up to the primary study that unveiled cautious variances of the media. 200 samples of media-based researches were extracted to be used in analysis of in-depth visual demands. 200 housewives from rural Iud development zones, who exercises the most influence in household purchases in these regions where the problem of rate of distribution Is coming under the limelight, were chosen as the subjects. The subjects were selected from land development zones of Gimhae-si and Haeundae. At first, the research was prepared as a web-based endeavor but it employed direct research of field personnel in consideration of that this research is in the beginning. This follow-up study deals mainly with the visual demands for which cautious variances were detected in the primary study and includes analysis of mainly ground Plan layout, space coloration, livingroom utilization, and vlsual composition of LDK. Media research had the advantage of zero rate of questionnaire error due to a pre-programmed search routine, and it was possible to ascertain the actual trade-off basis demands of the residents in terms of ground plan layout. In addition, whereas conventional research methods based on still images were susceptible to the preconceptions of the respondents, the interactive media allowed for easy understanding of the spatial layout and thus made it possible for all respondents to provide answers under the same conditions.
We propose a novel noise littering method based on adaptive windowing. To restore a noisy signal adaptive filtering methods have been widely researched and used. However, conventional adaptive filtering methods have a trade-off between noise suppression and edge preservation since they adopt fixed size filters. In this paper applying the adaptive windowing concept to adaptive filtering, we overcome the trade-off, The filter size is adaptively selected depending on signal statistics. The visual results of the signal and image restorations convincingly show the superior preservation of edge and detail and suppression of noise for the proposed adaptive windowed adaptive filter compared with conventional methods.
A color image compression based on saliency map was proposed. The proposed method provides higher quality in saliency blocks on which people's attention focuses, compared with non-saliency blocks on which the attention less focuses at a given bitrate. The proposed method uses 3 different quantization tables according to each block's saliency level. In the experiment using 6 typical images, we compared the proposed method with JPEG and other conventional methods. As the result, it showed that the proposed method (Qup=0.5*Qx) is about 3.1 to 1.2 dB better than JPEG and others in saliency blocks in PSNR at the almost similar bitrate. In the comparison of result images, the proposed one also showed less error than others in saliency blocks.
In this paper, I propose a method which can enhance the visual quality of IRST images based on a loaded location in ship and an AOS. The IRST adjusts an AOS to detect targets with various altitudes because of its narrow vertical field of view and offers various functions to enhance images with its low contrast. In the proposed method, images are divided into two regions of sea and sky on the basis of the horizon after establishing relation between an AOS and a horizon location within an image. As a result, image enhancement of the proposed method is performed adaptively according to the divided region while that of conventional method is performed for entire image without the region division. Simulation results show that the proposed method represents higher visibility compared with conventional one.
