The climate change has become one of the most important global issues that require global responses. As one of the leading contributions to climate change, greenhouse gas emissions and Ballast Water Management have attracted growing attention from the international community. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) received its mandate to regulate International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships' Ballast Water and Sediments in 2004. The convention requires that every vessel must be equipped Ballast Water Management System (BWMS) in 2017. Based on this situation, this study aims to analyze the present state and data from the exports of BWMS(HS842121). The results show that as the most leading country in the field, Germany has the largest market share (14.33%), Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) index 1.76, and Trade Specialization Index (TSI) 0.636 in the world. The two other leading countries such as Denmark and Netherlands follows the ability of Germany. The Korean market share of HS842121 shows market share (5.98%) which is a bit bellow high compared to other countries. However the RCA index (1.85) presents the state of comparative advantage. In addition, Korea's TSI index (0.453) indicates that it is in the state of export specialization. The Korean BWMS and Shipbuilding industry maintain the state of export specialization. They are also in the state of import specialty. For Korea to raise its export competitiveness and to ensure shipbuilding competitiveness, it is necessary to intensify supporting systems and related policies.
France owns a unique film production process with the big share of public funding. In its background there is the most developed film support scheme in the world. We consider the French film industry has the fair competition order than any other country. This study follows the French film production process from the project planning to film screening. It looks into various aspects French cinema: production scale of French films, investment/production agreement, actors casting, decision of the film budget, major investors, staffs' wages and collective convention, screening, overseas sales and profit-sharing. It aims to get across the French film industry, especially the film production sector. As a case study, we choose a romantic comedy, Heartbreaker(L'Arnacœur) made in 2010. This study presents a French film industry structure. It will give you some hints to reconsider the existing problems of Korean film industry, for example, screen monopoly, vertical integration of conglomerates, poor secondary market, low earnings rate… etc.
The volume of air passengers and cargo transportation has increased rapidly in recent years. This trend will be even more noticeable as the high-tech service industry expands and the globalization progresses. In an effort to reflect and to cope with this trend, many conventions concerning international air transportation have been concluded. The Republic of Korea has also acceded to the Montreal Convention of 1999 on September 20th, 2007 which became effective on December 29th 2007. However, Korea currently does not provide any private law on the liability of domestic air carrier, leaving the regulation wholly to the general conditions of carriage of private air lines. These general conditions of carriage, however, are not sufficient to regulate the liabilities of domestic air carriers, because they cannot be fully recognized as a legitimate source of law applicable in the court. This situation is inconvenient for both air carrier and their customers. Thus, the Ministry of Justice of Korea has decided to enact a law that will regulate domestic air transportation, namely, "Domestic Carriage by Air Act", as a part of the Korean Commercial Code. So was composed a special committee for legislation of the Domestic Carriage by Air Act. This writer has led the committee as a chairman. The committee has held in total 10 meetings so far and has completed a draft bill for the part VI of the Korean Commercial Code, "Air Carriage." The essentials of the draft are as follows: First, the establishment of Part VI in the Commercial Code. The Korean Commercial Code already includes a series of provisions on road transportation in part II and carriage by sea in part V. In addition to these rules regulating different types of transportation, the Domestic Carriage by Air Act will newly establish part VI to regulate air carriages. Eventually, the Commercial Code will provide an integrated legal system on the transportation industry. Second, the acceptance of the basic liability system which major international conventions, such as Montreal Convention of 1999 and Guadalajara Convention of 1961, have adopted. This is very important, because the law of air carriage is unified worldwide through various international conventions, making it necessary and significant for the new act to achieve conformity between rules of international air carriage and that of domestic air carriage. Third, the acceptance of Rome Convention system on damage caused by foreign aircraft to third parties on the surface. Fourth, the application of rules on domestic road carriage or carriage by sea mutatis mutandis with necessary modifications. This very point is the merit of inserting domestic air transportation law into the Commercial Code. By doing so, the number of articles can be reduced and the rules on air carriage can conform to that of road transportation and carriage by sea. The bill is expected to be passed by the parliament at the end of this year and is expected to be effective by end of July 2009.
In Paracomon Inc. v. The owner of the cable brought a claim for the repair cost against the shipowner. The shipowner then advanced a third party claim against a liability insurance underwriter. The Supreme Court of Canada (SCC) held that the shipowner was entitled to limit its liability under the 1976 Convention on the Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims. The SCC also ruled that even though the misdeed of the shipowner was insufficient to break its right to limitation of liability, its wrongdoing constituted willful misconduct under the 1993 Canada Marine Insurance Act, allowing the underwriter to deny coverage for the incident. Thecasewasthefirsttoaddresstheinterrelationship between the shipowner's right to limit liability under the international convention regime and the availability of liability insurance with respect to such limited liability. This study analyzes the reasoning behind the SCC's judgment and evaluates the appropriateness of this court's decision based on the current maritime industry as well as prevailing maritime law. It concludes that the SCC's decision to declare that the shipowner retained the right to limit its liability is appropriate under the Limitation Convention (1976). However, its declaration that the liability insurer was discharged from liability is not correct in due consideration of the common recognition in the maritime industry, the intended purpose of a third party's right against the liability insurer, and the adoption process of the conduct barring limitation. Based on the SCC's decision, this study finally reviews the issue of the shipowner's right to limit and the coverage of the liability insurer in the Sewol case (2014).
Recently, a goal was set globally to reduce the Carbon Dioxide ($CO_2$) emission at national levels by 30 % in comparison to the Business As Usual (BAU) pursuant to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. As construction industry accounts for as high as 40 % of the $CO_2$ emission by the entire industrial sector in Korea, efforts toward reducing emissions from the construction industry are essential. Buildings are mainly responsible for $CO_2$ emissions, and, to reduce the $CO_2$ emitted from the buildings, a fast and accurate calculation method is required to be introduced in the architectural design phase. If the standardized data based on Building Information Modelling (BIM) is utilized, $CO_2$ emissions can be calculated quickly and accurately during the design phase. However, it is difficult for the designers who lack the knowledge regarding $CO_2$ emissions to reduce and manage such emission during the planning and design phases of buildings by estimating the quantities of various materials and the corresponding $CO_2$ emissions. Accordingly, the objective of this study is to develop a BIM-based $CO_2$ emission estimation system for a rapid and objective analysis and verification of $CO_2$ emissions.
As exchange and cooperation have increased in each country or region and a variety of NGOs are getting increasingly active in the 21st century, environments for the industry of international conventions have continued to improve. However, since the industry is in the starting stage, facilities for international conventions and professional management personnel are deficient. In this study, furniture design that shows the cultural identity of Korea from the invention facilities is focused and efforts are made in order to make the shape that has functionality and meaning based on the analysis of space. Participants of diverse nationalities, who use international convention facilities, feel Korea through furniture and remember its image; thus, this study focuses on the furniture design that has the identity of Korea. The concept of furniture design has been derived based on the traditional aesthetic consciousness in the symbolic, cultural, and emotional light. The identity of design does not depend on the partial characteristics of the traditional society but modernity and internationality shall coexist along with traditionality. Modernity and globalism are reflected along with the traditional elements in furniture.
Most countries have their own culture that presents different types of behaviour. The employees' specific ways of working, according to each country, influence its organisation, thus cultural differences have become an essential issue in operating management. Therefore, this study explored how the different cultures based on Hofstede's paradigm interact within the specific Korean context. This study examined how cultural related HRM practices were enacted in the Korean hotel industry, how the frameworks of Hofstede's model impact the employee outcomes, including the concept of organisational justice. This study followed a quantitative approach which relied on a positivist paradigm to evaluate the different HRM practices at hotel workplaces with the view of employees. This study gathered a survey on 601 hotel employees in the deluxe sector. The analysis of quantitative data was undertaken using SPSS version 23.0 software and AMOS 23.0 to achieve the research aim for the study. This study contributes new findings to the research literature. The results of this study showed how Confucianism also plays a predominant role in understanding Korean culture, more than the Hofstede's original four dimensions of culture.

Pursuing sustainable development throughout society and industry and the field of environmental policy, each international organization or nation has performed international standardization projects on environmental management activities for their system as well as environmental assessment for a product such as life cycle assessment (LCA) and life cycle inventory database (LCI DB), and the environmental aspects have been increasingly demanded as crucial evaluation specifications. Moreover, the conventional environmental policy, which represents the direct-control, has been more dependent on the market forces and product itself after the Climate Change Convention., and the Integrated Product Policy (IPP, EU) is applied vigorously to strengthen global competitiveness of a product and to achieve the effect of environmental improvement for it. According to change of the international railway market, the value of Eco-Design has been increasingly important in developed countries including EU. Thus, each country is establishing its own guidelines, software and database for each product, and developing new policies through Eco-Design with practical results in marketing. To react this and develop Korean railway as an environment-friendly industry with priority to other transportation system as well as maintain high place in technology, the direction of RACE software development of main function is introduced, which is exclusively used for EMU to assess both environmental and economic aspects with LCA and eco-efficiency (EE).
The present study assessed how restaurant brand personality affected customer’s awareness/association, emotional-relationship and image, and how these factors influenced brand loyalty. As well, the influence of restaurant brand personality to brand loyalty was assessed. The model was tested in family restaurants in the metropolitan cities of Ulsan and Daegu. Between January 1 and February 28, 2007, questionnaires were distributed to restaurant patrons. A total of 274 questionnaires were statistically analyzed. Empirical results confirmed that restaurant brand personality increased brand awareness/association, brand emotional?relationship and brand image, and that these attributes increased brand loyalty. Restaurant brand personality affected brand loyalty. The research findings indicate that managers of family restaurants should pay attention to the emotional reaction of customers to their establishment. This involves employee actions that make dining a pleasurable experience.
The ship recycling or scrap is a phenomenon in the process of vessels life cycle has ended in the shipping industry. Scrap are greatly affected by freight rates due to ship demands. Not only that, environmental regulation and economic scale vessel demand are processes that must exist in the shipping industry as they obtain management for existing vessels. In the past, shipbreaking yard had tried to work without protection for poverty, without poor working conditions and facilities to prevent the emission of harmful substances. However, the issue of environmental pollution has been raised the Basel and Hong Kong Convention have been adopted, and a new replacement of the ship scrap that induces serious pollution is required. In this study, 165 countries were analyzed to confirm the importance of determining the ship solution. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the Environmental Performance Index, which is a measure of environmental regulation, is the most influential factor of ship scrapped volume. The determinant of whether lower labor cost can be secured is more correlated with population than GDP per capita. The implications of the results of the regression analysis mean that if environmental regulations for ship scrap of the future are strengthened, the status of Bangladesh and Pakistan, which currently account for half of the world's ship recycling, may change.
