The purpose of this study was to explore the demand of rheumatoid arthritic patients for medical facilities. The survey using open-ended question and interview was used to serve this purpose. Data was collected from 27 inpatients and outpatients of one university hospital in Seoul. The results were as follows ; The hospital facilities they wanted were categorized as space for patients & their family members (15 items), convenient facilities(14 items), facilities for their family members & visitors (4 items) and others (2 items). They mostly needed as following order ; shower room, parking place, supermarket, no charge of TV subscription fee and rest place. Also they especially wanted sports facilities & recreation room.
The purpose of this study is to examine the determinant factors of satisfaction and to investigate the difference from clusters in the category of overall state of satisfaction, the thought of revisiting, and the intention of recommendation with the case of Wando Changpogo Festival. Changpogo Festival has been held since 1996 with the theme of 'Changpogo', gained great acknowledgment from television drama, 'Haeshin', and this year of 2009 is its fourteenth. The study analyzed questionnaire which is made up of items on satisfaction factors of 18 local festival visitors. Results from factor analysis are 1) the contents and the souvenir of the festival, 2) work for publicity, 3) tour for near place and convenient facilities. Likewise, results from cluster analysis are 1) a cluster of the contents and the souvenir of the festival, 2) a cluster of tour for near place and convenient facilities, 3) a cluster of work for publicity. In conclusion, there are similar degrees in difference between clusters, but especially the 'tour for near place and convenient facilities' factor has higher score than the others. Therefore, this factor should be cared with great importance.
The purpose of this study is to provide basic data needed for planning and designing apartment community facilities in order to vitalize rental apartments. Outdoors community facilities of six rental apartments in Seoul were examined. The results are as follows. Firstly, the conditions of planning characteristics showed that the convenience is ranked as the highest priority of planning, compared to safety, friendliness and finally comfortableness. Community facilities are connected with the apartments and sidewalk providing convenient access for all apartment residents, there was little regard given to the features of comfortableness. Secondly, comfortableness of community facilities were shown to the lowest, compared to any characteristics. It is not easy to control noise and privacy in facility, and there are lack of near community facilities, for washing hands, drinking water and shielding from snow or rain, respectively. Thirdly, green facilities were shown to the highest applied friendliness more than other facilities. They were well outfitted with water space and gardening spaces, and robustly applied environment friendly materials and colors. Fourthly, resting facilities were shown to the lowest applied safety more than other facilities. Structure and material of facility are favorable but there is an absence of nonskid material and night-lightening system.
Recently, despite the presence of a large number of people with disabilities, facilities and services for the disabled are insufficient in comparison with the advanced countries. Especially, unmanned facilities and devices are not available for disabled people without help. As interest in disabled people increased, the convenient facilities for the disabled person should be legally installed in the public places. Moreover, social consensus formation and technical approaches are being actively pursued. In this paper, we propose a five-step scenario to use an unmanned post office. Based on the proposed scenario, we present the method to improve the accessibility of the user interface of the unmanned facilities. And we present a plan for establishing the short- and medium-term service models. This plan is expected to be highly practicable because it reflects the current situations of Korea Post and analysis result of the domestic and oversea cases.
The purpose of this study is to configure the spaces and elements of the roof-garden plan that users regard as important, and to investigate their preferred spaces and facilities, ultimately providing basic information for the planning of user-directed roof gardens for local residents. A questionnaire survey was used as the research method, targeting roof-garden users in the L department store of Jeollabuk-do. A total of 225 people responded to the questionnaire, and 223 of them were used for this study. The collected data was analyzed in SPSS ver.18.0, using frequency, percentage, t-test, and one way ANOVA. The respondents preferred rest space the most, followed by the convenient space, landscaping and green space, and play and exercise space. Teenage students preferred the pool and artificial spaces, such as a fountain, and planned convenient spaces and rest spaces, such as a playground. Cafes and restaurants, chairs and tables, and walking trails should be considered for single women in their twenties. Due to the high population of married couples in their thirties, the preference for play facilities and safety facilities was higher than in other groups. The well-educated population in their forties, when viewed from their preference for landscaping and green space, requires the opportunity to rest in nature. The results of this study cannot be generalized since the study was directed at roof-garden users in a department store in Jeollabuk-do. However, it is possible to provide specific information about the user-directed roof-garden plan, since the study was analyzed together with various user variables.
Being able to enjoy leisure time for adolescents is a necessary activity, for it helps them relieve their anxiety and stress and develop their potential. It is necessary to incorporate such spaces in the housing plans in advance and support diverse community activities. The current living spaces do not hold proper spaces and facilities for community activities appropriate for adolescents. Community facilities should be planned so as to reflect the needs of these adolescents, based on a clear survey in advance. The current study has conducted a survey to find out about the level of satisfaction and requests from adolescents on the leisure facilities their current living spaces hold. Based on this prior research, this study looks for solutions that could solve the issue at hand. The current community facilities are not convenient to support a diversity of leisure activities to the adolescents. The community facilities should be able to supplement information on the various activities put in place for the youth and widely supply the programs in demand. Furthermore, the adolescents wanted to form their own community within the facilities to practice their leisurely activities. We can safely assume that the youth's desire for more community amenities will increase for their own development.
This study has been performed to explore conveniences and inconveniences of daily lives in rural residential care facilities among the elderly residents. In this study, five males and seven females aged 68 to 78 were asked about socio-familial and physical aspects of their daily lives in the facilities such as meals, social activities, family visits, recreation, and health care. The answers of the qualitative interview were drawn as follow; first, the residents perceived well planned regular meals and snacks, free visits of friends, regularly supervised daily sanitary activities, periodic outdoor activities, education programs provided by religious experts, and pastoral farming lives as most convenient aspects of the retirement facilities. In addition, some felt that facility life made them free of familial conflicts, while others appealed fear of being forgotten because of distant location. On the other hand, they perceived the supervised group activities and meals as major inconveniences. They also felt persistently depressed when closely observing serious illness or deaths of their co-residents. Therefore in this study, suggestions were made as follows: first, combination of normal family life and retirement facility should be developed in the mixed form of community welfare center and shared home. Second, intensive medical care facilities should be in collaboration with the retirement facilities, so that the residents are relieved from stressful contacts with extremely ill patients in the residential area.

School closures in rural areas is especially relevant because low fertility rate and population aging are common not only in rural but also in urban areas. This paper examined a variety of users' perceptions on welfare facilities using closed rural schools. The sample size of 200 was selected through convenience sampling and data collection was completed by a self-completion written questionnaires. Main findings are as follows: 1) the level of users' relative satisfaction with welfare facilities using closed rural schools was generally positive, main factor associated with relative satisfaction was facilities and surrounding environment at closed rural schools, 2) socioeconomic usefulness of closed rural schools was also was generally positive, main factors for revitalization were adequate facilities and places, accessible and convenient places, 3) future necessity and willingness for welfare facilities using closed rural schools were overwhelmingly positive, children or youth were revealed as a priority service target. Finally, theses analyses show that a high proportion in the rural welfare sector, especially seemed to have a positive impact on bridging negative gabs between urban and rural in the socioeconomic development and social welfare.

Traditional markets located in local small towns have effected local economies and culture for a long time, but their current situation is not so good. In this context, this paper tries to find out the physical characteristics and problems of local traditional markets and to extract some suggestions to improve them. For this, I selected three traditional markets as case study areas such as Mugeuk, Samseong, and Boeun located in local small town in Chungbuk Province. Using the diverse survey methods including theoretical review, basic data analysis, field survey, and questionnaire study, I examined physical features such as location, spatial structure, type of business, streetscape, and convenient facilities in the designated markets. Finally, based on this, I proposed some suggestions on the improvement of traditional markets located in local small towns as followings; expand and improve the convenient facilities, enforce the image of entrance, boost and form groups of specified business, reflect the local characteristics, and amend the related institution etc.
