Factors Related to Health-Promotion Behaviors Among Korean-Chinese Workers in South Korea (재한 중국동포의 건강증진행위와 관련 요인)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to understand health-promotion behaviors and to find factors associated with the behaviors among Korean-Chinese workers who live in Korea. Methods: The number of Korean-Chinese workers participated in this study was 187, and the sample was chosen using a convenient sampling method. To understand general characteristics, frequencies and percentages were utilized. To examine the seven categories of health-promotion behavior, their average scores were calculated. To explore factors related to health-promotion behaviors, a multiple stepwise regression analysis was performed. Independent variables used for the analysis were self-concept, social support, stress, perceived health status, and demographics. Results: The average score of the seven health-promotion behaviors was 2.35. Of the seven subcategories of health-promotion behaviors, the scores of rest/sleep and self-actualization were relatively higher; the scores of exercise and stress management were relatively lower. Of demographics and four factors of main interest (i.e., self-concept, social support, stress, perceived health status), education level, types of residence, social support, and perceived health status remained statistically significant. Among the four factors, social support had the greatest impact on health-promotion behaviors. Conclusions: This study has two suggestions. First, it is needed to develop strategies, which can help Korean-Chinese workers enhance levels of health-promotion behaviors regarding stress management and exercise. Second, considering the greatest effect of social support on health-promotion behavior, it is necessary to strengthen social support among Korean-Chinese workers.

Relations between Perceived Burden and Social Support of Stroke Patient호s Family Caregiver (뇌졸중 환자의 가족 간호자가 지각하는 부담감과 사회적 지지와의 관계 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to describe the perceived burden of the stroke patient's caregiver and related factors to analyze relationships between perceived burden and social supports. A convenient sample of 225 caregivers who take care for a stroke patient at home participated in this study. Caregiver's perceived burden was measured by the objective and subjective burden scale developed by Montgomery (1985). Related factors of burden were studied in terms of the patient's instrumental activties of daily living, cognitive function, caregiver's demographic variables and caregiver's illness intrusiveness. The results were as follows: (1) The mean of objective burden score was 4.5, and subjective burden score was 3.1. These scores show that caregivers perceive moderate level of burden. (2) Caregivers' objective burden was significantly related to caregivers's illness intrusiveness (r=.62), patient's IADL (r=-.33), and patient's cognitive function (r=-.15). The subjective burden was related to the caregiver's illness intrusiveness (r=.29), the patient's IADL (r=.24), and the caregiver's age(r=.23). (3) The percentage of stroke caregivers who perceived physical support was 49.1%. The percentage of those who perceived emotional support was 61.0%, and those who perceived financial support totaled 37.6%. (4) Caregivers who received any type of social supports perceived lower subjective burden, and caregivers who received physical or psychological support perceived lower objective burden. These results emphasized the necessity of a rehabilitation programs for stroke patients and support program for family caregivers.

  • The Train Diagnostic and Control System(TDCS) has been equipped on the modern Metro Vehicle, Locomotive and High Speed Train. The main purpose of this system is to support the identification of train status by real-time, the fast action against such failure events during revenue service and the fast convenient maintenance processes. Some of newest TCMS, a kind of control and monitoring system, has participated in the main control functions such as pantograph up and down, powering and braking command and so on. But these kind of control functions of the high speed train which has the operating speed over 300km/h are conducted by the train electrical logic circuits. The KTX-I and KTX-II - the local high speed train, are the typical example. The next generation TDCS for the ongoing project of distributed high speed train(HEMU) is designing with the target to increase main train control functions, to increase the reliability/avalibility and to increase the convenient driving. This paper introduces the overall configurations and functions of the new generation TDCS.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest institutional reformation of public office facilities by analysis the status of services on welfare for the aged and disabled. For this study, we have researched and analyzed on two different aspects. The aspects are space composition of public office facilities, welfare systems and service support within region. And we can get the following important points as conclusion; (1) We need to consider on not only access for public office facilities site but also the connection on business such as block plan on zone and connection between quarters. Architectural plan has to be considered. (2) Most of the public office facilities use human service resources as a supporting system for shortage of convenient facilities. Variety of welfare services are required. (3) We need to secure various programs and space for local peculiarities and social demand.

Deterministic and probabilistic analysis of tunnel face stability using support vector machine

  • This paper develops a convenient approach for deterministic and probabilistic evaluations of tunnel face stability using support vector machine classifiers. The proposed method is comprised of two major steps, i.e., construction of the training dataset and determination of instance-based classifiers. In step one, the orthogonal design is utilized to produce representative samples after the ranges and levels of the factors that influence tunnel face stability are specified. The training dataset is then labeled by two-dimensional strength reduction analyses embedded within OptumG2. For any unknown instance, the second step applies the training dataset for classification, which is achieved by an ad hoc Python program. The classification of unknown samples starts with selection of instance-based training samples using the k-nearest neighbors algorithm, followed by the construction of an instance-based SVM-KNN classifier. It eventually provides labels of the unknown instances, avoiding calculate its corresponding performance function. Probabilistic evaluations are performed by Monte Carlo simulation based on the SVM-KNN classifier. The ratio of the number of unstable samples to the total number of simulated samples is computed and is taken as the failure probability, which is validated and compared with the response surface method.

The Influence of Gender Role Conflicts, Academic Stress Coping Ability, and Social Support on Adaptations to College Life among Male Nursing Students (남자 간호대학생의 성역할 갈등, 학업스트레스 대처, 사회적 지지가 대학생활 적응에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined effects of gender role conflicts, academic stress coping ability, and social support on adaptations to college life among male nursing students. Data were collected through self reported structured questionnaire form 225 male nursing students using convenient sampling methods from April 1 to June 4, 2014. Stepwise regression showed that academic stress coping ability had the greatest effect on adaptations to college life(${\beta}=0.33$, p<.001), followed by major satisfaction, social support, gender role conflicts and club activity. These variables together explained 33% of the adaptations to college life in male nursing students(F=23.50, p<.001). Therefore, programs for resolving gender role conflicts and reinforcing academic stress coping ability should be developed. And social support network which consist of professors and the senior-junior nursing students will help to improve adaptability to college life in male nursing students.

Approximate calculation of the static analysis of a lifted stay cable in super-long span cable-stayed bridges

  • The sag effect of long stay cables is one of the key factors restricting further increase in the span of cable-stayed bridges. Based on the formerly proposed concept of long stay cables lifted by an auxiliary suspension cable in cross-strait cable-stayed bridges, corresponding static approximate calculations and analytical theory based on catenary and parabolic cable configurations are established. Taking a main span 1400 m cable-stayed bridge as the research object, three typical lifting conditions and the whole process of auxiliary cable lifting are analyzed and discussed. The results show that the sag effect is effectively reduced. The support efficiency is only improved when the cables are lifted above the original cable chord. Reduction of the horizontal component force of the cable is limited. The equivalent elastic modulus and the vertical support stiffness of the lifted cables are significantly increased with increased horizontal projection length and not sensitive to the change of the lifting point position. The scheme of lifting the cable to the chord midpoint is more economical because of the less steel required for the auxiliary suspension cable, but its effect on improving the vertical support efficiency is limited. The support efficiency is better when the cable is lifted to the cable end tangential to the original cable chord, but the lifting force and the cross-sectional area of the auxiliary suspension cable are doubled. The approximate calculation results of the lifted cables are very close to the numerical analysis results, which verifies the applicability of the approximation method proposed in this study. The results of parabolic approximation calculations are approximately equal to that of catenary cable geometry. As the parabolic approximation analysis theory of lifted cables is more convenient in mathematical processing, it is feasible to use parabolic approximation analysis theory as the analytical method for the conceptual design of lifted cables of super-long span cable-stayed bridges.

The Cognition on Community Childcare Support and Social Support between Working Mothers and Non-working Mothers (취업모와 비취업모의 지역사회 육아 지원과 사회적 지원에 대한 인식)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the cognition on community childcare policy and childcare service needs between working mothers and non-working mothers using the 2008 Child Panel by Korea Childcare Policy Institute. The participants were 654 working mothers and 1,416 non-working mothers. The data were analyzed by $x^2$. The results were as follows; 1) 50% of working mothers and non-working mothers thought that the number of childcare centers was enough. Forty-five percent of working mothers and non-working mothers recognized that the number of kinder gartens and private education institutes was enough. Fifty-two percent of working mothers and 4 5% of non-working mothers thought that use of public leisure facilities were convenient. Twenty-seven percent of working mothers and 20% of non-working mothers thought that use of culture institutes were easily accessible. About 50% of working mothers and non-working mothers felt safe about public security and community safety. 2) Second, working mothers perceived social support higher than non-working mothers in several areas.

Multi-Objective Optimization of Flexible Wing using Multidisciplinary Design Optimization System of Aero-Non Linear Structure Interaction based on Support Vector Regression (Support Vector Regression 기반 공력-비선형 구조해석 연계시스템을 이용한 유연날개 다목적 최적화)

  • The static aeroelastic analysis and optimization of flexible wings are conducted for steady state conditions while both aerodynamic and structural parameters can be used as optimization variables. The system of multidisciplinary design optimization as a robust methodology to couple commercial codes for a static aeroelastic optimization purpose to yield a convenient adaptation to engineering applications is developed. Aspect ratio, taper ratio, sweepback angle are chosen as optimization variables and the skin thickness of the wing. The real-coded adaptive range multi-objective genetic algorithm code, which represents the global multi-objective optimization algorithm, was used to control the optimization process. The support vector regression(SVR) is applied for optimization, in order to reduce the time of computation. For this multi-objective design optimization problem, numerical results show that several useful Pareto optimal designs exist for the flexible wing.

Combining Support Vector Machine Recursive Feature Elimination and Intensity-dependent Normalization for Gene Selection in RNAseq (RNAseq 빅데이터에서 유전자 선택을 위한 밀집도-의존 정규화 기반의 서포트-벡터 머신 병합법)

  • In past few years, high-throughput sequencing, big-data generation, cloud computing, and computational biology are revolutionary. RNA sequencing is emerging as an attractive alternative to DNA microarrays. And the methods for constructing Gene Regulatory Network (GRN) from RNA-Seq are extremely lacking and urgently required. Because GRN has obtained substantial observation from genomics and bioinformatics, an elementary requirement of the GRN has been to maximize distinguishable genes. Despite of RNA sequencing techniques to generate a big amount of data, there are few computational methods to exploit the huge amount of the big data. Therefore, we have suggested a novel gene selection algorithm combining Support Vector Machines and Intensity-dependent normalization, which uses log differential expression ratio in RNAseq. It is an extended variation of support vector machine recursive feature elimination (SVM-RFE) algorithm. This algorithm accomplishes minimum relevancy with subsets of Big-Data, such as NCBI-GEO. The proposed algorithm was compared to the existing one which uses gene expression profiling DNA microarrays. It finds that the proposed algorithm have provided as convenient and quick method than previous because it uses all functions in R package and have more improvement with regard to the classification accuracy based on gene ontology and time consuming in terms of Big-Data. The comparison was performed based on the number of genes selected in RNAseq Big-Data.
