환자의 실시간 모니터링을 위한 간편한 RQ 측정기기의 개발 (The Development of Convenient RQ Measuring Device for Patients Real Time Monitoring)

  • RQ(Respiratory Quotient) value is obtained from the ratio of the consumed oxygen and the produced carbon dioxide during the patient's respiration. To investigate the efficacy of insulin and diagnosis the metabolic disorder in short time, the RQ value can be used as important parameter. The measurement of oxygen and carbon dioxide amounts is needed large chamber and complex sensors. But If the atmospheric oxygen and carbon dioxide concentrations do not change, the expiratory oxygen and carbon dioxide can be used to obtain RQ value. A convenient RQ measuring device has been developed by using two sensors for O2 and CO2. The estimation of RQ devices confirms that the RQ device can obtain accurate data by eliminating uncertain factor such as delay time and remaining gases.

  • In this paper, a reliable and convenient evaluation method for the adequacy of any radial distribution line's voltage drop is proposed for improvement of the voltage regulation of the distribution line under operation. Using the voltage measurement of the first load branch point and the last point on the given distribution line its average line voltage drop and the line voltage drop variance by pure load variation are computed. And by these values and allowable or required line drop from proper voltage regulation view point, present adequency index and operation improvement index of the line drop are newly introduced for the evaluation of the given distribution line's voltage regulation. As a result of application to the 4 cases of study, the proposed method is proved to be reliable and convenient.

Uncertainty Assessment using Monte Carlo Simulation in Net Thrust Measurement at AETF

  • In this paper, Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) method was used as an uncertainty assessment tool for air flow, net thrust measurement. Uuncertainty sources of the net thrust measurement were analyzed, and the probability distribution characteristics of each source were discussed. Detailed MCS methodology was described including the effect of the number of simulation. Compared to the conventional sensitivity coefficient method, the MCS method has advantage in the uncertainty assessment. The MCS is comparatively simple, convenient and accurate, especially for complex or nonlinear measurement modeling equations. The uncertainty assessment result by MCS was compared with that of the conventional sensitivity coefficient method, and each method gave different result. The uncertainties in the net thrust measurement by the MCS and the conventional sensitivity coefficient method were 0.906% and 1.209%, respectively. It was concluded that the first order Taylor expansion in the conventional sensitivity coefficient method and the nonlinearity of model equation caused the difference. It was noted that the uncertainty assessment method should be selected carefully according to the mathematical characteristics of the model equation of the measurement.

  • The impedance cardiogram has been proposed as a non-invasive, continuous, operator independent, and cost-effective method for cardiac output monitoring. However, it can not be completely considered as non-restrictive method because of attached spot and band type electrodes. Therefore, we developed a improved convenient hand-held typed measurement system for cardiac output by electrical impedance technique. 80 subjects from Yonsei University and the surrounding areas, participated. All subjects measured stroke volume and cardiac output through Physioflow and developed system. To verify the developed system, statistical methods such as correlation, Wilcoxon signed ranks test, and the Bland-Altman analysis were used. The proposed system showed significant correlation in both male and female stroke volume(r=0.715, r=0.704) and cardiac output(r=0.826; r=0.804). From these results, it can be concluded that stroke volume and cardiac output could be improved convenient measurement using the both hands without the help of a specialist.

  • The power wheelchair is an important and convenient mobility device. The demand of power wheelchair is increasing for assistance in mobility. In this paper we proposed a robotic wheelchair for mobility aid to reduce the burden from the disabled. The main issue in an autonomous wheelchair is the automatic detection and avoidance of obstacles and going to the pre-designated place. The proposed algorithm detects the obstacles and avoids them to drive the wheelchair to the desired place safely with panning scan from sensors of distance measurement and fuzzy control. By this way, the disabled will not always have to worry about paying deep attention to the surroundings and his path.

  • The AE measurement is one of the most convenient methods for detecting contacts between the slider and the disk. The AE method has been widely used in the investigation of the tribology of sliding interfaces due to its convenience. We examined the relationship between the AE signal and the flying height of a slider. We investigated the influence of the disk linear velocity on the AE rms signal by using the AE measurement system. The experiment also gives the relationship between the take-off velocity and the disk surface conditions. To investigate the behavior of the slider further, the variances of the AE signals are analyzed. The experimental results indicate that the increase in the magnitude of the AE rms signal does not necessarily mean the slider/disk contacts.

  • Train is one of the most famous and convenient transporting ways. However, the noise problem caused by the train hinders people from living in a silent environment. Furthermore, this problem is related with the environmental rights of people nearby the railroad. The estimation of train noise is the pre-research of train noise reduction. This research is about measurement and analysis of train noise which can be a base-study about the estimation of train n(lise. The noise of ‘Mugungwha’ train, the most frequently used train in Korea, is the main object in this measurement and analysis. The characteristics of the train noise were evident in the criteria of height, distance and velocity. Furthermore, the noise differences between locomotive and passenger coach were observable.

  • This paper describes the design and fabrication of a soil resistivity measurement system using 9 auxiliary electrodes; 6 potential-, a reference-, a current-, and a ground- electrode. The measurement system is composed of a current source (300 [Vrms], 5 [A], Sine-wave, 45 $\sim$ 500 [Hz]), a data acquisition (400 [kS/s], 16 bit, 16 Ch.), and an operating program based on a graphical software of National Instrument Co. The proposed system is convenient for choosing the position of electrodes because the soil resistivity is calculated having no concern with the length and the spacing between electrodes.

교량의 동적 거동 계측을 위한 스마트폰 가속도센서의 적용성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Applicability of Smart-phone Accelerometer for the Measurement of Dynamic Behavior in Bridges)

  • In recent years, measurement in a smart-phone environment is attracting attention in various fields due to its easy set-up process, various functions, convenience and expandability. Even in the field of safety evaluation and maintenance of large-scale infra-structures, the appropriate application of these effective and convenient measurement techniques can be of great help. In this paper, an experimental study was conducted to investigate the effectiveness, problems and complementary methods of applying smart-phone accelerometers to the measurement in infra-structure such as bridges. In model bridge subjected to impact and moving loads, the measured accelerations using a smart-phone and a professional accelerometer were directly compared in time domain. And the statistical and frequency characteristics of the measured signal and transfer function were also examined in frequency domain. The results show that the accuracy of measurement using smart-phone sensor is primarily affected by its incomplete sampling performance. In conclusion, smart-phone sensors cannot be considered suitable for precise assessment, where measurements must be accurate over a wide frequency range, but we can say that the technique is still useful and fairly accurate for some purpose over a limited frequency range, such as the low pass frequency range, which is a major concern for civil structures.
