The main issue of parallel three-phase boost converters is reduction of the low- and high frequency circulating currents. Most present technologies concentrate on low frequency circulating current because the circulating current controller cannot mitigate the high frequency circulating current. In this paper, analytical approach of three-phase coupled inductor applied to parallel system becomes an important objective to effectively reduce the low- and high frequency circulating currents. The characteristics of three-phase coupled inductor based on a structure and voltage equations are mathematically derived. The modified voltage equations are then applied to parallel three-phase boost converters to develop averaged models in stationary coordinates and rotating coordinates. Based on the averaged modeling approach, design of the circulating current controller is presented. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the analysis and modeling for the parallel three-phase boost converters using three-phase coupled inductor.
This research is concerned with the validation of the modeling technique and controller design for slewing beam structures. When cantilever beam rotates about axes perpendicular to the undeformed beam's longitudinal axis, it experiences inertial loading. Hence, the beam vibrates from the initial stage of slewing. In this paper, the analytical model for a single slewing flexible beam with surface bonded piezoelectric sensor and actuator is developed using the Hamilton's principle with discretization by the assumed mode method. Comparisons with the theoretical model are made based upon the frequency responses and time responses. A new factor called the coupling coefficient is introduced to incorporate the discrepancies between the theoretical and experimental results. The slewing is achieved by applying the PID control, which is found to be less sensitive to vibrations. The vibrations are controlled by PPF controller, which is found to be effective in suppressing residual vibrations after slewing. The vibrations occurred during slewing is difficult to control because the piezoceramic actuator is not powerful enough to overcome inertial loadings.
The LCL resonant inductive power transfer (IPT) system is increasingly used because of its harmonic filtering capabilities, high efficiency at light load, and unity power factor feature. However, the modeling and controller design of this system become extremely difficult because of parameter uncertainty, high-order property, and switching nonlinear property. This paper proposes a frequency and load uncertainty modeling method for the LCL resonant IPT system. By using the linear fractional transformation method, we detach the uncertain part from the system model. A robust control structure with weighting functions is introduced, and a control method using structured singular values is used to enhance the system performance of perturbation rejection and reference tracking. Analysis of the controller performance is provided. The simulation and experimental results verify the robust control method and analysis results. The control method not only guarantees system stability but also improves performance under perturbation.
We have shown how unstructured modeling was used to derive a general stability condition in Part 1. In Part 2, we focus on the particular dynamics (structures modeling) of the robot manipulator and environment. Using rigid body dynamics, the stability condition for the direct drive robots has been achieved in terms of the Jacobian and robot tracking controller. Combining the structured and unstructured modeling, a stability condition for a particular application can be obtained. This approach has been used to analyze compliant motion on the University of Minnesota robot using a feedforward torque controller. We have obtained a stability condition for this application. Through both simulation and experiment, the sufficiency of this condition has been demonstrated. For a sufficient stability condition, recall that if the condition is satisfied, then the stability is guaranteed; however, if the condition is violated, no conclusion can be made.
This paper presents a global mode modeling of space structures and a control scheme from the practical point of view. Since the size of the satellite has become bigger and the accuracy of attitude control more strictly required, it is necessary to consider the structural flexibility of the spacecraft. Although it is well known that the finite element (FE) model can accurately model the flexibility of the satellite, there are associated problems : FE model has the system matrix with high order and does not provide any physical insights, and is available only after all structural features have been decided. Therefore, it is almost impossible to design attitude and orbit controller using FE model unless the structural features are in place. In order to deal with this problem, the control design scheme with the global mode (GM) model is suggested. This paper describes a flexible structure modeling and three-axis controller design process and demonstrates the adequate performance of the design with respect to the maneuverability by applying it to a large flexible spacecraft model.
In this research. we developed Tire Roller Prototype which is operated hydraulic transmission system. For develop the theoretically computer aided system, we practiced the simulation of hydraulic system and dynamic modeling and will compare with the experiment results of Tire Roller Prototype. We conceptualize the new hydraulic system and derive the equations of motion for dynamic analysis. Finally, we will design the controller, which can manage the hydraulic circuit of servo mechanism system. We define new hydraulic system and integrate modeling of Tire Roller through simulation of h\ulcornerdraulic system and design of controller. From above procedure. Hydraulic transmission system characteristics and target performance can be investigated. To follow the required performance, we select the parts of Tire Roller. We manufactured the prototype of Tire Roller, and will install the equipment for experiment.
This paper presents the study of the tension control in a web transfer system. In this study the sliding mode controller is applied to a time-varying nonlinear mathematical model. The model was derived to consider the effects of changing the roll radius in tension variation during winding and unwinding. The uncertainty in modeling may be due to unmodelled dynamics, on variations in system model. Designed sliding mode controller made the system error always staying in the suggested surface from the beginning. Through this, system is maintained to be robust against a disturbance and uncertainty. To verify the designed controller has a good performance, various inputs such as desired velocity, step input, and trapezoidal input are applied. When the sliding mode controller was used, the system(the tension control) performance was improved comparing to the PID controller. The robustness of the controller with respect to an estimation error was verified through simulations.
In this paper, we study a disturbance observer (DOB) based controller for an EMS(Electro-Magnetic Suspension) system in presence of mass uncertainty and input disturbance. The DOB based controller is employed in order to compensate the modeling uncertainty and attenuate disturbance signals. For the design of DOB based controller, the Jacobain linearization of nonlinear system model equation is used. Computer simulation is carried out for nonlinear model in order to compare the performance of the proposed DOB controller with that of the conventional PID controller. The simulation results show that the substantial improvement in the performance can be achieved by the proposed DOB controller.

In this paper a methodology for designing a controller based on inverse dynamics for speed control of DC motors is presented. The proposed controller consists of a low-pass prefilter the inverse dynamic model of a system and the PI controller. The low-pass prefilter prevents high frequency effects from the inverse dynamic model. The model is characterized by a nonlinear friction model. The PI controller regulates the error between the set-point and the system output which is caused by modeling error disturbances and variations f parameters. The parameters of the model and the PI controller are optimized offlinely by genetic algorithm. The experimental results on a DC motor system illustrate the performance of the proposed controller.
This paper addresses the design of State-feedback Robust Guaranteed-Cost Controllers with controller gain variations. Since the unstructured uncertainty is the most dominant uncertainty in the modeling of the plant, the plant is assumed to have the unstructured uncertainty. It is necessary to take the controller parameter perturbation into consideration when we design the robust controller. Otherwise, the resulting controller may show the fragility property. That is to say, the extremely small controller parameter variation may result in the instability of the overall closed-loop system. Therefore, the design purpose is that the maximum performance index is guaranteed in the presence of the unstructured plant uncertainty and controller parameter variations ...
