  • 발파작업에서 발생하는 공해로 인한 재산상의 피해나 정신적인 피해를 최소화하기 위하여 대부분의 현장에서 제어발파를 시행하고 있다. 이완식 제어발파는 발파의 규모가 일반발파와 비교하여 작고, 대상 구조물이 근거리에 위치하므로 그 전달특성이 다를 수 있다. 근거리에서 계측된 발파진동의 특징은 고주파이고 진동의 지속시간이 짧다. 본 연구는 국내의 8개 지역에서 계측한 자료를 분석하여 이완식 제어발파의 진동전달 특성에 관하여 국내의 현장에서 시공 전에 진동을 추정할 수 있는 진동전파식을 제안하였다. 또한 제어발파시에 사용하는 폐타이어를 부착한 철재매트에 의한 폭풍압의 저감 효과와 전달특성을 분석하였다.

  • 최근 도심지 굴착공법 선정시 주변환경에 대한 관심이 높아지면서 민원발생을 감안하여, 발파공법이 아닌 기계굴착공법(TBM, SHIELD 등) 등이 부분적으로 적용되고 있다. 그러나 이들 굴착공법들은 굴착조건의 변화에 따라 적용 한계성이 있고, 한계구간이 직면할시 시공성이 극히 떨어지거나 적용 자체가 불가능하게 된다. 이에 따라, 공사기간의 연장, 공사비의 증가 및 적용자체가 불가 할 경우는 공사중단에 이르게 되어 시공과정에서 다른 굴착공법으로 전환되는 사례가 빈번히 발생되고 있다. 따라서 본 사례는 도심지 터널구간으로 당초 할암공법으로 설계되었으나 암반의 강도가 높고 굴착단면적이 협소하여 할암공법이 적용될 수 없었다. 이에 대한 대안공법으로 TBM이나 기타 장비에 의한 기계굴착공법을 검토하였으나, 터널연장이 짧고 터널노선의 곡선부 반경이 작아 대형장비의 투입이 어려운 굴착조건 때문에 최종적으로 폭약을 이용한 발파굴착 공법을 선정하였다. 그러나 발파공법은 진동 및 소음이 필연적으로 수반되기 때문에, 주변 환경공해가 허용하는 범위 내에서 최대한의 시공성과 안전성 여부를 판단하기 위하여 발파진동 및 소음의 허용수준을 설정한 후 시험발파를 실시하였으며, 그 결과에 따라 진동제어발파공법을 적용하였다.

  • Ground vibrations caused by pile driving or explosive blasting can affect the stability of power line tower and its foundation. Because the characteristics of ground vibrations generally depend on the distances from the blast, the ground vibrations should be controlled by taking the distance into account. In this study, ground vibration levels were measured at the foundation of a power line tower and on ground surface adjacent to the tower. The relationships between the dominant frequencies of the ground vibrations that were measured at both locations were comparatively investigated.

  • The pressure-time profile of the explosion gases can be controlled fot the use of cartridge explosives with two techniques Known as Decoupling and Spacing the charges. Decoupling consists in leaving and empty space between the explosive column and wall of the blast hole. Four different decoupling index, 1.4, 1.8, 2.34, 3.0 are selected in this field study. The level of ground vibrations with each decoupling index are measured and the empirical particle vibrations with each decoupling index are measured and the empirical particle velocity equation from these data was obtained. The condition of new cracks at blast hole are also examined. As the decoupling index in increased, the level of the blast vibration is decreased,. But the cracks in rock masses are efficiently formed to remove the broken rock. The vibration constant associated with a given site $K=1564.5(D.I)^{-1.3233}$ in terms of D.I(decopling index).

  • Mechanical excavation techniques employing tunnel boring machines (TBM) and rock splitters have been proposed to minimize rock damage for tunnel and underground waste repository facilities. Such a mechanical excavation, however, is extremely expensive and not applicable in all cases. For these reasons, controlled blasting using notched charge holes have been suggested to achieve crack growth along specific directions and inhibit growth along other directions. This study introduces a dynamic fracture process analysis code to simulate fracture processes of rock which has a notched charge hole.

  • The estimation of proper prediction method and the transformation method of environmental regulation standard were carried out by measuring blasting vibration. Vibration velocity was more adequate than vibration level in the blasting design by scaled distance. Thus, design and construction mutt be controlled by vibration velocity, and it is required that the vibration velocity is transformed to vibration level to meet regulation standard. Three transformation methods were studied. First, transformation formula is derived from the shock vibration data only. The second method it the transformation by correlation equation of vibration velocity and vibration level measured at the same time. The last one is the transformation of vibration velocity by FFT. It seems to be difficult to estimate damages by these methods because that every method shows considerable error. But transformation formula of PPV component to vibration level was most practical.

Effect of Surface Contaminants Remained on the Blasted Surface on Epoxy Coating Performance and Corrosion Resistance

  • One of the critical issues in the coating specification is the allowable limit of surface contaminant(s) - such as soluble salt(s), grit dust, and rust - after grit blasting. Yet, there is no universally accepted data supporting the relationship between the long-term coating performance and the amount of various surface contaminants allowed after grit blasting. In this study, it was attempted to prepare epoxy coatings applied on grit-blasted steel substrate dosed with controlled amount of surface contaminants - such as soluble salt(s), grit dust, and rust. Then, coating samples were subjected to 4,200 hours of cyclic test(NORSOK M-501), which were then evaluated in terms of resistance to rust creepage, blistering, chalking, rusting, cracking and adhesion strength. Additional investigations on the possible damage at the paint/steel interface were carried out using an Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy(EIS) and observations of under-film-corrosion. Test results suggested that the current industrial specifications were well matched with the allowable degree of rust, whereas the allowable amount of soluble salt and grit dust after grit blasting showed a certain deviation from the specifications currently employed for fabrication of marine vessels and offshore facilities.

  • If slope height was more than 20 meters, we conducted an analysis of stereographic projection and limit equilibrium at this slope. We proposed reduction of slope face angle and reinforcement of rock bolt depending on analysis. Blasting design : Standard pattern based on result of local test blasting was made for blasting design. Vibration criterion was set for less than 3.0mm/s because of outworn buildings and inhabitants opinions. Production blasting and Controlled blasting has been done as Construction standard pattern. After Vibration Monitoring has been done, so that we can control of complement. "Bidding Document" and AASHTO 2001 "A Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets" were so for design criteria of earthwork but they were different actual design criteria and left something to be desired in Afghanistan. Therefore, although "Bidding Document" and "AASHTO 2001" were basic design criteria, domestic design criteria was reflected in this design criteria for complement by discussion with supervisor. Drainage design : For stability ratio, ditch of arch block and stonework was designed by rainfall data for the 13 years and discussion with supervisor. Pavement was designed as flexible pavement. Because these days in Afghanistan postwar repair works, especially urgent repairing of roads and newly making of roads, are very highly in progress, I think that Afghanistan is the region about which our construction technical experts should have great concerns.

  • Pelletizer of dry ice snow produced by adiabatic expansion of liquid carbon dioxide and their blaster were designed and manufactured. The blaster had a high cleaning power against various contaminants on the surface such as stain, oily dirt, lacquer film and paints with low blasting pressure and low consumption of blasting air. The capacity of hopper for dry ice pellet supply was 12 kg and the mass rate of pellet blasting was controlled in 0 to 1.2 kg/min. The impact of the pellets was independent of standoff distance within a certain limiting distance, and dependent on the impact stress, angle and mass rate of dry ice pellet blasting. On the other hand the cleaning power was influenced by thermal properties and surface roughness of the substrates and decreased in the order of glass, copper, brass, steel and acryl. The power was also affected by hardness and adhesion of the contaminant on the substrate, and decreased in the order of grease, epoxy and paint. The noise was detected during blasting in the range of 85 to 100dBA.
