  • In this paper, the Monte-Carlo method was applied to the controller robustness evaluation problems with respect to the uncertainty of critical plant parameters. The plant studied is a aerial vehicle. The-variable parameters are nondimensional stability derivatives, inertias. The nominal nondimensional stability derivatives ,were obtained from wind tunnel test. Also the nominal inertia parameters were calculated from the mass distribution along the vehicle axes. But the parameters obtained from the test or calculations are at best probable and always contain some uncertainties which one can not figure out. So some kinds of robustness evaluation method should be applied. The parametric robustness of the designed classical controller evaluated by the method turned out to be satisfactory.

  • A surface-assisted photo-control of the liquid crystal (LC) alignment has been achieved by modifying the topmost surface of the polyimide film with photo-reactive molecules. Recently, photo-alignment technique using a thin film of poly(vinyl cinnamates) have been reported. However their commercial potentiality is limited by their low thermal stability. To enhance thermal stability, we synthesized the chalcone derivatives as the photo-reactive molecules and introduced the materials on the surface-modified polyimide film.. We identified that the photo-chemical reaction of the chalcone derivatives occur in few minutes with irradiation of UV light. The photo-alignment characteristics of the modified polyimide films treated by polarized UV light and their LC cells are investigated as a function of exposure dose.

  • We report the EL property of blue and blue-violet emitting materials with anthracene moiety as well as a new core structure containing indenopyrazine. Non-doped device using one of indenopyrazine core derivatives was found to exhibit excellent blue-violet color purity of (0.173, 0.063), and narrow emission band of 42nm FWHM. One of anthracene core derivatives with bulky side group also exhibits excellent color coordinates (0.156, 0.088) and an external quantum efficiency of 7.18%.

  • A nonlinear adaptive speed controller is designed for induction motors. Only the measurement of the stator current is used to design the controller and the observers. The sliding mode cascade observer is introduced to estimate the stator current and its time derivatives. The open-loop observer are designed to estimate the rotor flux and its time derivatives. The adaptive observer is also designed to estimate the rotor resistance. Sequentially, the rotor speed can be calculated using these estimated values. It is shown that the estimation errors of the corresponding states and the parameter converge to the specified residual set. It is also shown that the speed controller using these estimates is performed well. The experimental results are represented to investigate the validity of the proposed observer and controller.

  • Protective effects of dithiol malonate derivatives (DMDs), YH-100, YH-150 and YH-439 on carbon tetrachloride-induced hepatotoxicity were investigated in primary rat hepatocytes culture. Treatment of DMDs to hepatocytes culture did not affect total cytochrome P-450 content and ECOD and AHH activities. Protein and RNA synthesis was also similar to control. Meanwhile, DMDs significantly decreased LDH release and in vitro lipid peroxidation induced by $CCI_4$. Accumulation of cellular triglyceride and decreased secretion of VLDL from liver cells by $CCI_4$ treatment were also significantly protected.

  • Several chiral potassium B-alkyl-9-boratabicyclo[3.3.1]nonanes $(K\; B-R^*-9-BBNH)$ and potassium B-alkoxy-9-boratabicyclo[3.3.1]nonanes $(K \;B-OR^*-9-BBNH)$ were synthesized by treatment of the corresponding trialkylboranes and dialkylmonoalkoxyboranes with a small excess of potassium hydride. The chiral B-alkoxy derivatives generally reduce representative ketones, such as acetophenone and 3-methyl-2-butanone, with greater optical induction than the corresponding B-alkyl derivatives, suggesting the involvement of the oxygen atom in the control process for asymmetric synthesis.

  • Human Topoisomerase I (topo I) helps the control of DNA supercoiling in cells by assisting breaking and religation of DNA strand. It is essential for cellular metabolism and survival, hence, a good target for a novel class of anticancer drugs. As topo I inhibitor binds to the DNA-topo I complex, the religation of DNA strand is suppressed which results in the death of the target cell. Seven compounds of H-Imidazo[4, 5-g]phthalazing-4, 9-dione derivatives with $IC_50$ in the range of 0.001 and 6.27 $\mu$M in 5 different cancer cells and four compounds of 7-chloro-6-quinazoline-5, 8-dione derivatives with positive and negative topo I inhibition activities were studied. • This paper proposes a robust control method using Universal Learning Network(U.L.N.) and second order derivatives of U.L.N.. Robust control considered here is defined as follows. Even if external input (equal to reference input in this paper) to the system at control stage changes awfully from that at learning stage, the system can be controlled so as to maintain a good performance. In order to realize such a robust control, a new term concerning the perturbation is added to a usual criterion function. And parameter variables are adjusted so as to minimize the above mentioned criterion function using the second order derivative of the criterion function with respect to the parameters.

  • A novel neuro controller based simple neuro-structure with modified error function is introduced in this paper. This controller consists of two independent controllers, known as the voltage regulator and the angular controller. The voltage regulator is used to modify terminal voltage for the purpose of tracking a reference voltage. The angular controller is utilized to guarantee the stability of the system. In this structure each neuron uses a linear hard limit activation function that depends on the controlled variable and its derivatives. There is no need for parameter identification or any off-line training data. Two proposed controllers are merged by a smooth switch to build a complete controller. The effectiveness of the proposed novel control action is demonstrated through some computer simulations on a Single-Machine Infinite-Bus (SMIB) power system.

  • To address the convergence issue of power control algorithms, a number of algorithms have been developed hat shape the dynamics of up-link power control for cellular network. Power algorithms based on fixed point iterations can be accelerated by the use of various methods, one of the simplest being the use of Newton iterations, however, this method has the disadvantage which not only needs derivatives of the cost function but also may be weak to noisy environment. we showed performance of the power control schemes to solve the fixed point problem under static or stationary channel. They proved goof performance to solve the fixed point problem due to their predictor based optimal control and quadratic convergence rate. Here, we apply the proposed power control schemes to the problem of the dynamic channel or to dynamic time varying link gains. The rigorous simulation results demonstrated the validity of our approach.
