Root-Rot Development of 2-Year old Ginseng (Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer) Caused by Cylindrocarpon destructans (Zinssm.) Scholten in the Continuous Cultivation Field (Cylindrocarpon destructans (Zinssm.) Scholten에 의한 연작지 2년근 인삼의 근부병 발병 특성)

  • The disease development of root-rot [pathogen:Cylindrocarpon destruction (Zinssm.) Scholten] occurred in 2-year old ginseng (Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer) was investigated in the continuous (the first cultivation: 1978∼1982, 2nd cultivation: 1990∼1993 and abolished in 1993 due to replanting problem) and replanted cultivation (period of cultivation: 1980∼1984). In the continuous cultivation, incidences of root-rot were 0.7% on May 3, 48.6% on May 24, and 95.8% on June 14, respectively. In the replanted cultivation, no symptom was observed on May 3 and disease incidence was generally lower compared with the continuous cultivation. On the aerial part of the ginseng infected by C. desiccates, the end and/or margin of leaves were changed to dark reddish color that appeared for behind the root-rot symptom. In this field, the longitudinal growth of lateral root was more inhibited than in the case of the replanted cultivation by C. destmctans. The inhibition rate of rootlet growth was 37.3% in the continuous cultivation as compared with that of replanted cultivation at June 14. Though lesions of root-rot were formed all over the roots, 61.2% of the lesions was positioned within 6 cm under the rhizome.   • Purpose As the mobile easy payment service grows fast, competition in the payment service market is getting stronger. On the other hand, there are few studies on the users' utilization results. Therefore, this study explains the continuous use intention of mobile easy payment Services based on PAM and value model. Design/methodology/approach This study proposed an extended model by integrating PAM, which is a representative model of continuous use intention in IS field, and value model of mobile field. Also this study empirically tested 298 users who have experience of mobile easy Payment service. The structural equation model was used to verify the research model and hypotheses. Findings According to the empirical analysis result, this study verifies that perceived usefulness and satisfaction were determinants of continuous use intention in mobile easy Payment services. Expectation confirmation has been proved to be a positive predictor of satisfaction and perceived usefulness. Also, among the value factors, perceived ease was not a valid predictor of satisfaction, and the remaining factors were positive predictors of satisfaction.

  • To predict the fate of groundwater contaminants, accurate spatially continuous information is needed. Because most field sampling of groundwater contaminants are not conducted spatially continuous manner, a special estimation technique is required to interpolate/extrapolate concentration distributions at unmeasured locations. A practical three-dimensional estimations method for in situ groundwater contaminant concentrations is introduced. It consistas of two general steps: estimation of macroscopic transport process and kriging. Using field data and nonlinear optimization techniques, the macroscopic behavior of the contaminant plume is estimated. A spatial distribution of residuals is obtained by subtracting the macroscopic transport portion from field data, then kriging is applied to estimate residuals at unsampled locations. To reduce outlier effects on obtaining correlations between residual data which are needed for determining variougram models, the R(sub)p-estimator is introduced. The proposed estimation method is applied to a field data set.

  • A three-dimensional (3D) unstructured hydrodynamic solver for transient two-phase flows has been developed for a 3D component of a nuclear system code and a component-scale analysis tool. A two-fluid three-field model is used for the two-phase flows. The three fields represent a continuous liquid, an entrained liquid, and a vapour field. An unstructured grid is adopted for realistic simulations of the flows in a complicated geometry. The semi-implicit ICE (Implicit Continuous-fluid Eulerian) numerical scheme has been applied to the unstructured non-staggered grid. This paper presents the numerical method and the preliminary results of the calculations. The results show that the modified numerical scheme is robust and predicts the phase change and the flow transitions due to boiling and flashing very well.

Changes of Soil Chemical Properties and Root Injury Ratio by Progress years of Post-Harvest in Continuous Cropping Soils of Ginseng (인삼 연작지 수확 경과년수에 따른 토양화학성 및 뿌리썩음병 발생율의 변화)

  • To study the cause of the injury by continuous cropping and the countermeasure for reduction on it's injury in ginseng cultivation by the period passed since post-harvest, and previous soil management far planting, the injury by continuous cropping was investigated from 2004 to 2005 at the continuous cropping field of National Institute of crop Science in Jungpyong county, Korea. There was negative correlation between the ratio of survived root and the Period Passed since post-harvest. The ratio infected by Cylindrocapon destructans and Fusarium spp. in root was about 81${\sim}$95% at continuous cropping field that passed by 3${\sim}$4 years since post-harvest. Though the previous soil management for planting was somewhat effective to increase the ratio of survival root, but which was not effective to protect the infection of Cylindrocapon destructans and Fusarium spp. in root. There was no significant difference in reducing rotted root between management and nonmanagement. When previous soil management for planting was programed, it should be considered that Cylindrocapon destructans was detected at continuous cropping field that passed by above 10 years after harvesting.

A Continuous Electrical Cell Lysis Chip using a DC Bias Voltage for Cell Disruption and Electroosmotic Flow (한 쌍의 전극으로 전기 삼투 유동과 세포 분쇄 기능을 동시에 구현한 연속적인 세포 분쇄기)

  • We present a continuous electrical cell lysis chip, using a DC bias voltage to generate the focused high electric field for cell lysis as well as the electroosmotic flow for cell transport. The previous cell lysis chips apply an AC voltage between micro-gap electrodes for cell lysis and use pumps or valves for cell transport. The present DC chip generates high electrical field by reducing the width of the channel between a DC electrode pair, while the previous AC chips reducing the gap between an AC electrode pair. The present chip performs continuous cell pumping without using additional flow source, while the previous chips need additional pumps or valves for the discontinuous cell loading and unloading in the lysis chambers. The experimental study features an orifice whose width and length is 20 times narrower and 175 times shorter than the width and length of a microchannel. With an operational voltage of 50 V, the present chip generates high electric field strength of 1.2 kV/cm at the orifice to disrupt cells with 100% lysis rate of Red Blood Cells and low electric field strength of 60 V/cm at the microchannel to generate an electroosmotic flow of $30{\mu}m/s{\pm}9{\mu}m/s$. In conclusion, the present chip is capable of continuous self-pumping cell lysis at a low voltage; thus, it is suitable for a sample pretreatment component of a micro total analysis system or lab-on-a-chip.

LARGE EDDY SIMULATION OF VORTEXING FLOW IN THE MOLD WITH DC MAGNETIC FIELD

  • Large eddy simulation of vortexing flow of molten steel in the continuous casting mold with and without DC magnetic field was conducted. The influence of the position of magnetic field to the residence time and depth of the vortex was analyzed. The mechanism of the influence of magnetic field to the vortexing flow was found. The computational results show that the vortexing flow is the result of shearing of the two un-symmetric surface flows from the mold narrow faces when they meet adjacent to the SEN; the un-symmetric flow for turbulent vortex is caused by turbulent energy of the fluid and that for biased vortex is caused by biased flow and the turbulent energy of fluid; with the moving of the magnetic field from the centerline of the outlet of the SEN to the free surface, the surface velocity is decreased gradually and the depth of the turbulent vortex and the biased vortex is decreased, the residence time is increased with the magnetic field moves from DL=120mm to DL=60mm and then decreased; the turbulent vortex and the biased vortex can be eliminated when the magnetic field is located at the free surface.

Effect of the Alternation of Lowland-Upland Field and the Cropping Pattern on Weed Population (논밭 윤환재배시(輪換栽培時) 작부유형별(作付類型別) 잡초발생(雜草發生) 양상(樣相))

  • This study was carried out to make the most of them as the fundamental data for reasonable weed control when population of weeds was observed in the alternated fields of lowland and upland. The annual and the perennial paddy weeds in the continuous paddy rice field remarkably decreased when compared to that in the alternated field of paddy rice and soybean. The longer was the duration of upland field condition, the less was the population of lowland weeds and the more was the population of upland weeds. Biennial weeds in the contiuous paddy rice field were less than that in the rotated field of paddy rice and soybean, and this tendency was clear in Alopecurus aequalis Sobol. In the continuous cropping of paddy rice, population of biennial weeds in the culverted field was higher than that in the unculverted one, but in the continuous cropping of soybean this tendency was vice versa.

  • Two-dimensional turbulent fluid flow and solidification were investigated in a continuous casting process of a steel slab with electromagnetic field. The electromagnetic field was described by the Maxwell equations. The enthalpy-porosity relation was employed to suppress the velocity within a mushy region. A revised low-Reynolds number $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model was used to consider the turbulent effects. It is shown that the temperature gradient in the casting direction in the case with EMBR becomes very weak compared to that of the case without EMBR. The results also show that the velocity profiles of the case with solidification are quite different from those of the case without solidification.

  • Numerical methods to estimate behaviors of jointed rock mass can be roughly divided into two methods : continuous and discontinuous model. Generally, distinct element method(DEM) is applied in discontinuous model, and finite element method(FDM) or finite difference method(FDM) is utilized in continuum model. To predict a behavior of discontinuous model by DEM, it is essential to understand characteristics of joints developed in rock mass through field tests. However, results of field tests can not provide full information about rock mass because field tests are conducted in limited area. In this paper, discontinuous analysis by UDEC and continuous analysis by FLAC are utilized to estimate a behavior of a tunnel in jointed rock mass. For including discontinuous analysis in continuous analysis, joints in rock mass is considered by reducing rock mass properties obtained by RMR and decreasing shear strength of rock mass. By comparing and revising two analysis results, analysis results similar with practical behavior of a tunnel can be induced and appropriate support system is decided.
