In this paper, to develop the fiber optic hydrophone for the use of low frequency applications, two channels TDM(Time Division Multiplexing) fiber-optic hydrophone array was fabricated and their acoustic charateristics were investigated in the acoustic water tank. A fiber length of the order of 150m is wounded at the hollow cylinder type aluminum mandrel and the fundamental natural frequency of the mandrel maintained above 10kHz. An unbalanced interferometer (discrete Mach-Zehnder type) was used. Sound detection performance is tested in the underwater tank with 3kHz continuous sound source. Finally, it is shown that two channels TDM fiber-optic hydrophone array can detect 3kHz sound stably. This results can also applicable for the development of multi-channel fiber optic hydrophone array.

The purpose of this paper is to describe experimental results about the butt welding and bead on plate welding of the high power Continuous Wave (CW) Fiber laser for Ultra-low carbon Interstitial Free(IF) steel plate for gear part of car. After being welded of the gear parts by the fiber laser and electron beam Microstructures of melting zone had been mixed acicular, granular bainitic, quasi-polygonal and widmanstatten ferrite because of a radical thermal diffusion after welding, difference of critical volume and grain size. As a result of experiment, when gear parts were welded by the fiber laser and electron beam, the fiber laser welding has been stable properties without internal defects more than the electron beam welding. Therefore it has the very advantages of welding high quality and productivity more than conventional melting method. The optimal welding processing parameters for gear parts were as follows : the laser power and welding speed were 3kWatt, 30mm/sec respectively. At this time heat input was $21.2{\times}10^3J/cm^2$.

Nonlinear behavior of two-span, continuous composite steel-concrete girders strengthened with Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers (CFRP) bonded to the top of concrete slab over the negative moment region was evaluated using a non-linear Finite Element (FE) model in this paper. A three-dimensional FE model of continuous composite girder using commercial software ABAQUS simulated and validated with experimental results. The interfacial regions of the composite girder components were modeled using suitable interface elements. Validation of the proposed numerical model with experimental data confirmed the applicability of this model to predict the loading history, strain level for the different components and concrete-steel relative slip. The FE model captured the different modes of failure for the continuous composite girder either in the concrete slab or at the interfacial region between CFRP sheet and concrete slab. Through a parametric study, the thickness of CFRP sheet and shear connection required to develop full capacity of the continuous composite girder at negative moment zone have been investigated. The FE results showed that the proper thickness of CFRP sheet at negative moment region is a function of the adhesive strength and the positive moment capacity of the composite section. The shear connection required at the negative moment zone depends on CFRP sheet's tensile stress level at ultimate load.
Strengthening of reinforced concrete beams with externally bonded fiber reinforced polymer plates/sheets technique has become widespread in the last two decades. Although a great deal of research has been conducted on simply supported RC beams, a few studies have been carried out on continuous beams strengthened with FRP composites. This paper presents a simple uniaxial nonlinear analytical model that is able to accurately estimate the load carrying capacity and the behaviour of damaged RC continuous beams flexural strengthened with externally bonded prestressed composite plates on both of the upper and lower fibers, taking into account the thermal load. The model is based on equilibrium and deformations compatibility requirements in and all parts of the strengthened beam, i.e., the damaged concrete beam, the FRP plate and the adhesive layer. The flexural analysis results and analytical predictions for the prestressed composite strengthened damaged RC continuous beams were compared and showed very good agreement in terms of the debonding load, yield load, and ultimate load. The use of composite materials increased the ultimate load capacity compared with the non strengthened beams. The major objective of the current model is to help engineers' model FRP strengthened RC continuous beams in a simple manner. Finally, this research is helpful for the understanding on mechanical behaviour of the interface and design of the FRP-damaged RC hybrid structures.
Long-fiber-reinforced composites have the advantages of cost-competitiveness and high degree of freedom of molding compared to continuous-fiber-reinforced composites. On the other hand, it is difficult to ensure uniform characteristics due to the randomly distributed fiber orientation incurred from the process of manufacturing intermediate materials. In this study, the effect of the directionality of LFPS (Long Fiber Prepreg Sheet) materials on the mechanical properties was analyzed. The eddy current measurement method was used to analyze fiber orientations, and tensile and compression tests on LFPS materials were performed according to ASTM standards. In addition, the test results and theoretical values of LFPS materials were verified using the ROM (rule-of-mixtures) theory. These results confirmed the effect of fiber orientation on mechanical properties of discontinuous-fiber-reinforced composites.
Zr-based amorphous alloy matrix composites reinforced with metallic continuous fibers were fabricated by liquid pressing process, and their fracture properties were investigated by directly observing microfracture process using an in situ loading stage installed inside a scanning electron microscope chamber. About 60 vol.% of metallic fibers were homogeneously distributed inside the amorphous matrix. Apparent fracture toughness of the stainless-steel- and tungsten-fiber-reinforced composites was lower than that of monolithic amorphous alloy, while that of the Ta-fiber-reinforced composite was higher. According to the microfracture observation, shear bands or cracks were initiated at the amorphous matrix, and the propagation of the initiated shear bands or cracks was effectively blocked by fibers, thereby resulting in stable crack growth which could be confirmed by the fracture resistance curve (R-curve) behavior. This increase in fracture resistance with increasing crack length improved fracture properties of the fiber-reinforced composites, and could be explained by mechanisms of formation of multiple shear bands or multiple cracks at the amorphous matrix and blocking of crack or shear band propagation and multiple necking at metallic fibers.

Eight continuous culture fermenters were used in a completely randomized design to evaluate various nutritional values of Kochia (Kochia scoparia) compared with Atriplex (Atriplex dimorphostegia). Dried and pelleted samples (leaves and stems) provided substrate for metabolism by ruminal microbes maintained in a continuous culture fermentation system. Results indicated that there were no differences (p>0.05) in dry matter (DM) and crude protein (CP) digestibility between the two halophytic plants. Atriplex had higher (p<0.05) organic matter (OM) digestibility compared with Kochia. Neutral detergent fiber (aNDF) digestibility of Atriplex (411 g/kg) was higher (p<0.05) than that of Kochia (348 g/kg), however acid detergent fiber (ADF) digestibility was higher (p<0.05) in Kochia compared with Atriplex (406 vs. 234 g/kg). There were no differences (p>0.05) between the two halophytic plants in molar proportion of acetate and propionate, but the concentration of butyrate and valerate in Kochia were about two fold of Atriplex (p<0.05). When Kochia provided substrate to the microbes, protein synthesis was higher (p<0.05) compared with feeding Atriplex (5.96 vs. 4.85 g N/kg of OM truly digested). It was concluded that Kochia scoparia and Atriplex dimorphostegia had similar digestibility of DM and CP. It appears that these halophytic plants may not have enough digestible energy for high producing ruminants.

This study evaluated the support performance of fiber-net integrated shotcrete in tunnel support system developed for the purpose of improving constructability and stability while fully performing its mechanical performance as a tunnel support materials by four-point bending test, two-dimensional numerical analysis, and cross-sectional analysis. As a result of evaluating the flexural performance through a four-point bending test, in the case of fiber-net reinforced shotcrete, the tensile performance of fiber-net resulted in a continuous increase in load after crack occurrence, unlike steel fiber reinforced shotcrete. Also, the results of the tunnel cross-sectional structure analysis for ground conditions and the cross-sectional analysis of fiber-net and steel fiber reinforced shotcrete showed that sufficient support performance can be exhibited even if the thickness of fiber-net reinforced shotcrete was reduced compared to the previous one. Additionally, through these results, the support pattern of fiber-net integrated shotcrete in tunnel support system, which can be applied efficiently to the construction sections requiring higher stability among the rock mass class III, was proposed.
Milled carbon fiber (mCF) was prepared by a ball milling process, and X-ray diffraction (XRD) diffractograms were obtained by a $2{\theta}$ continuous scanning analysis to study mCF crystallinity as a function of milling time. The raw material for the mCF was polyacrylonitrile-based carbon fiber (T700). As the milling time increased, the mean particle size of the mCF consistently decreased, reaching $1.826{\mu}m$ at a milling time of 18 h. The XRD analysis showed that, as the milling time increased, the fraction of the crystalline carbon decreased, while the fraction of the amorphous carbon increased. The (002) peak became asymmetric before and after milling as the left side of the peak showed an increasingly gentle slope. For analysis, the asymmetric (002) peak was deconvoluted into two peaks, less-developed crystalline carbon (LDCC) and more-developed crystalline carbon. In both peaks, Lc decreased and $d_{002}$ increased, but no significant change was observed after 6 h of milling time. In addition, the fraction of LDCC increased. As the milling continued, the mCF became more amorphous, possibly due to damage to the crystal lattices by the milling.

The family of unidirectional continuous fiber reinforced polymeric composites are currently used in automotive bumper beams and load floors. The material properties and mechanical characteristics of the compression molded parts are determined by the curing behavior, fiber orientation and formation of knit lines, which are in turn determined by the mold filling parameters. In this paper, a new model is presented which can be used to predict the 3-dimensional flow under consideration of the slip of mold-composites and anisotropic viscosity of composites during compression molding of unidirectional fiber reinforced thermoplastics for isothermal state. The composites is treated as an incompressible Newtonian fluid. The effects of longitudinal/transverse viscosity ratio A and slip parameter $\alpha$ on the buldging phenomenon and mold filling patterns are also discussed.
