Creative Analysis of Brand Placement in Game Contents

  • This research attempts to analyze brand placement in game. Brand placement, being acclaimed as a new beneficiary model in game industry, is raising important mean of advertising. For development of game industry, the interdisciplinary study between game and advertising is indispensible. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to find creative types of brand placement in game for illuminating how advertising works in game contents. The results showed three types of brand placement in game. They are contextual type, prominent type and independent type. Contextual type is one where the brand is present within the game contents without being formally expressed: it plays a passive role. Prominent type is one where the brand is present within the game contents with being formally expressed: it plays an active role. Independent type is one where the brand is present within the game contents with being formally expressed but it is not related with the program: it plays an additional role. The research showed, among these three types, a prominent type is becoming mainstream of brand placement in game. In other words, the prominent type of brand placement is the most effective beneficial alternative in game industry.

  • Since the revised enforcement ordinance of the broadcasting legislation, Product Placement that was introduced in May, 2010 has expanded the stable income of broadcasting contents and broadcasting advertising industry, and improved the quality of the broadcasting contents and its service. However, as a result of Product Placement enforcement for the past 3 months, it reveals many problems, and is blamed for being unable to meet the intent of the law. Accordingly, Product Placement is not established properly. Thus, it is required to improve the detailed action plan for revitalization of Broadcasting Contents and Broadcasting Advertising Industry as originally intended. For example, the outsourcing production company involved in producing programs like dramas and the broadcaster have failed to reach negotiation on distributing proportion and it is keenly in need of its related study. This study is to cover the current status and the problems of introducing Product Placement, and is expected to provide the policy implications and the practical lessons. However, it displays limits that it ends in exploring and policy debate. It is henceforth expected to continue various studies of measuring the effectiveness, strategy, creative, and so forth based on discussion of introducing Product Placement.

Effect of Webtoon PPL by Product Type and Placement Type (제품유형과 제시유형에 따른 웹툰 PPL 효과 연구)

  • This study investigated the differences of message effect by product types and placement types of webtoon PPL(Product Placement). The study have tried to find effective webtoon PPL type and product type to minimized consumers' advertising avoidance. For analysis, two-way between subject design was produced by product types(utilitarian and hedonic product) and webtoon PPL placdement types(image, insert, and combination type). In results, there was a difference by PPL placement types for brand attitude. In special, the insert type had highly positive brad attitude. For webtoon contents, highly positive attitude was discovered in the cases of the hedonic product and the insert type of webtoon PPL.

  • Virtual Advertising and Product Placement which had been brought up to strengthen the competitiveness of the contents and vitalize the Advertising Industry, especially broadcasting advertising were finally adopted. This is a study to review what the background and the current condition of the virtual advertising and product placement are, identify what their current and potential problems are, and discuss how to settle the issues and make improvements. It also presents an empirical study on audience awareness. As a result of the study, audience tends to show high awareness of virtual advertising and product placement, to accept them more positively and show higher reliability of them than any other advertising. Moreover, it appears that they pay more attention to them, express their favor on them, and regard them convincing. This is an important point to both academic field and industry, which is likely to give suggestions to establish policy for virtual advertising and product placement and to develop broadcasting advertising in the future.

  • This study was carried out to analyze the actual situation of placement and to suggest concrete contents for the improved placement. Through literature reviews and empirical analysis, the followings are to be concluded. Firstly, the necessity of the placement are fully perceived by students and people working at culinary part in hotels. Both sides acknowledge that the placement is needed for the. better understanding of operations related to culinary art in a hotel. However, on the efficiency of the placement there is a big disagreement between them. Most of students participating placement programme have had a tendency to work with culinary staff without concrete training manuals and programmes. In addition, it was found that being exposed to different F&B outlets and kitchens is useful to get a variety of operational experiences. Secondly, as shown from the questionnaire regarding the importance of place, all the students who were asked marked more than 3.0 on the Likert Scale. Especially to the questions such as kitchen organization, job descriptions, safety and hygiene, seasonings, taste, vegetables and fruits, the average was above 3.6 which si the highest. As for the kitchen staff, the average was above 3.0, which imply that they also consider a placement important. The part showing the highest average were food safety and hygiene, dealing with kitchen equipments, appliances and knives. In conclusion, appropriate and concrete placement manuals are to be provided for students and hosting hotels in order to obtain educational accomplishments when implementing placement programme.

Effects of Product Type and Webtoon Attitude in Webtoon PPL (웹툰 PPL에 대한 제품유형과 웹툰 태도의 효과 연구)

  • The current study examines how product type and attitudes toward the webtoon - a digital comic that originated in Korea - affect consumer responses to webtoon product placement (PPL). Specifically, it examines the following responses: the perception of PPL intrusiveness, attitudes toward the PPL, attitudes toward the brand, word-of-mouth intention, and purchase intention. It further investigates how PPL type interacts with product type and attitudes toward the webtoon on consumer responses to the PPL. The findings from a 2 (product type: functional vs. hedonic) × 2 (attitudes toward the webtoon: negative vs. positive) × 2 (PPL type: creative placement vs. on-set placement) between-subject experimental study suggest the following: consumer responses to PPL in webtoon is more positive when the product is hedonic (vs. functional) and when attitudes toward the webtoon are positive (vs. negative). This study further suggests when subjects felt favorably toward the webtoon, the creative placement produced weaker perceptions of PPL intrusiveness and more favorable attitudes toward the PPL than the on-set placement. On the other hand, when subjects felt negatively toward the webtoon, the on-set placement evoked weaker perceptions of intrusiveness and more favorable attitudes toward the PPL than did the creative placement.

A Cost-efficient IPTV Strategy of Replica Placement for $3^{rd}$ Party Content Service

  • 3rd party content service is a consumer-based wide selection of contents in which IPTV provider believes will enhance the service considerably extending the variety of contents to finally provide a personalized service. Therefore, the combination of 3rd party content services and the IPTV infrastructure creates a good revenue opportunity but they need to be created. IPTV offers to create personalized channels to distribute 3rd party content service. However, the cost of $3^{rd}$ party content delivery is high when the service is provided from a faraway server. IPTV provider requires an effective strategy of replica placement to minimize the cost without a tradeoff on the performance. We propose a cluster-based strategy of replica placement to find the right balance between cost and performance. The results demonstrate the achievement of an outstanding delivery time and low cost.

  • Recently, contents distribution technologies have been used to cope with the explosive demand for Web services. In this paper, we addressed the issue of the optimal placement of replicas in the environment where Web contents are replicated. We placed replicas so that clients can have access to replicas with the proper delay and bandwidth. We attempted to solve the problem via dynamic programming considering cost of delay and traffic We have come up with time complexity that is less than $O(n^2)$. We defined the threshold and proved that our algorithm guarantees the reliable services.

Performance Optimization of Big Data Center Processing System - Big Data Analysis Algorithm Based on Location Awareness

  • A location-aware algorithm is proposed in this study to optimize the system performance of distributed systems for processing big data with low data reliability and application performance. Compared with previous algorithms, the location-aware data block placement algorithm uses data block placement and node data recovery strategies to improve data application performance and reliability. Simulation and actual cluster tests showed that the location-aware placement algorithm proposed in this study could greatly improve data reliability and shorten the application processing time of I/O interfaces in real-time.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out subjective perception types and needs of interested group on the Field Placement on Demand of Gwangyang Bay Area Industry by Q methodology, then to search for political measures to improve Field Placement in the implication of the sorted subjective perception types. The result of the study showed that there are three major sorts of subjectivities on the Field Placement Activation Plan on Demand of Gwangyang Bay Area Industry: emphasizes indusrty-college cooperation(Type1), emphasizes industry demand analysis(Type2), emphasizes field-centered education(Type3). And a new study showed that results can improve Field Placement on Demand of Gwangyang Bay Area Industry: positive industry-college partnership building, manpower training total support system building by manpower demand analysis and the situation of local industry, building the infrastructure for the training on demand of local industry on-the-job, trasition into field-centered education system by national competency standards(NCS).
