  • This study was conducted to determine the content of inorganic metals in soft drinks distributed locally in markets.6 trace metals (Fe, Ca, Zn, Na, Mg, and K) were detected in 16 kinds of drinks,80 samples. The average concentration of inorganic metals in vegetable drinks was relatively higher than that of mixed drinks or carbonated drinks. The concentration of calcium, which is advisable inorganic metals for the growth of skeleton and the prevention of osteoporosis, hypertension, was very high and needed to be careful for the consumer who is suffer with lithiasis. Although carbonated drinks are very popular with the children and adolescence owing to the unbalance of the intake of Ca and P, habitual drinking could cause obstruction in skeletal growth and metabolism of Fe, Cu, and Zn. So, it is suggested that more practical study is needed fur the intake of inorganic metals.

  • This study was conducted to determine the content of inorganic metals in botanical pills and assess the safety of mineral balance in body. Inorganic metals (Fe, Ca, Zn, Na, Mg, K, Pb, Cd, Cr) were detected in 11 kinds, 51 samples by Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer. The average concentration of inorganic metals in botanical pills was in the order of K(7933.32 mg/kg)>Na(5848.58mg/kg)>Ca(2741.60mg/kg)>Mg(1595.34mg/kg)>Fe(353.14mg/kg)>Zn(22.49mg/kg)>Cr(3.51mg/kg)>Pb(0.24mg/kg)>Cd(0.09mg/kg). In samples, Morus and Laminaria contained a great quantity of K and Na, Acanthopanacis cortex, Eucommia ulmoides, Pinus densiflora, Lycii fructus, Allium sativum for. pekinense, and Platycode radix had much more amount of K than that of Na, in the mean time, Artemisia capillaris, Carthamus tinctorius seed, and Rubi fructus had various kinds of plenty inorganic metals.

  • Proximate compositions of the roots of cultured and wild Codonopsis lanceolata were examined as tile basic reasearch for the study of their source of processed foods. No significant difference in the contents was found between the wild root and thecultivated at 3$0^{\circ}C$ in biotronroom. In view of the results to have measured mineralswhich is included in 14 sorts of Codonopsis lanceolata and surveyed their distribution.12 kinds of minerals including T1, Co, Ge, Sm, Mo, Sc, Be, Cd, As, Ga, Bi, ph are ne-vel or little included in almost source. Other twenty-one sorts of minerals (Ni, Se,Ba, Sb, Si, Ti, B, Li, Ifs, Ca, Sr, Mn, Fe, Cu, Zn, p, Al, Na, V, Cr, K) are more or less in-cluded in all source and Ca, Mg, p, K, and Fe are metals that are included in large qu-entities in comparison with others. No minerals difference in the contents was foundbetween the cultivated temperature. The content of elements of inorganic metal differsaccording to the part of C. lanceolata.
