The purpose of this study is to investigate actual conditions of family/kin ritual transition and to find out relationships to socio-economic variables. For this purpose, 716 subjects of urban family were interviewed with questionnaires. The results of this study may be summarized as follows: 1. It was discovered the pervasive themes of family/kin ritual transition: westernization, commercialization, socialization, and cultural anomie. 2. In contemporary family/kin rites, traditional structure coexists with external westernized aspects under the influnce of industrialization and commercialization. The rites were continued to provide a place where participants reproduce the ideology of patriarchal family group, especially the strong parent-child ties and narrow kin relationships. 3. Respondents who support traditional ritual style are old, lower class, and Buddhist. 4. Respondents who support westernization and socialization of family/kin rites are young, higher class, and Christian. But family/kin rites are not affected by sex relatively.
The purpose of this paper is to examine the change of the times on the transmission rate of broadcast message. In order to find out the research results, I collected past recorded news tapes and selected 22 radio news out from era of Japanese Imperialism, 1950's, 1960's and contemporary age. Next I measured each announcer's reading rate, and compared change on news-reading rate between present and past approximately 50 years ago. The results of study with such procedures and methods are as follows : the average reporting rate of newscasters in each era is different. From these results, we can easily grasp diachronic change in the transmission rate of broadcast message. Namely, the results show us that present announcers read news faster than the group of past era of Japanese Imperialism by 68%.
Tradition is defined as cultural qualities of a regional social group a race, which is transmitted from generation to generation through history. Its contents include human behavior as well as the outcomes from the human behavior and a culture is materialized by means of fullfil fundamental aspiration, in order to co-exist human being and society. This research has considered an architectural space which both show a Korean traditional architecture and modern architectural space, incliding Korean nature under a sort of cultural expression. Also, expressive qualities which are shown within a space as a medium, there is more consideration of method to embody Korean nature into an interior space. There is a subject related to traditional expression of what the real essence of tradition is. In addition, it is a matter of what the method of expression is in order to accomodate, inherit and express the pulse of tradition.
While the ideal universality of the modern period has achieved outstanding results in terms of establishing sanitary cities in contemporary urban environments, it has caused the decline of the genius loci. This study raises the question of the lost sense of place and proposes a solution, 'The Human-Environmental Ecological City'. The Human-Environmental Ecological City, called 'Ecoumenal City', does not provide a fake idealism with the conclusion of modernity of non-place or sense of place without modernity. It is both cosmological and geogenic, and the technology of the time is projected onto it human-environmentally. It does not pursue any more a urban planning as the overall work of an individual, but it aims at a balance rediscovered through the individual spontaneousness.
Living labs are an increasingly popular methodology to enhance innovation. Living labs aim to span boundaries between different organizations, among others Triple helix actors, by acting as a network organization typically in a real-life environment to foster co-creation by user-groups. This paper presents critical factors of Living labs in boundary-spanning between Triple Helix actors. Derived from a mixed-method approach and applications in the healthcare sector, the three main critical factors turn out to be 1) an adequate user-group selection and involvement, specifically a rich interaction and absorption of its results, 2) a balanced involvement of all relevant actors, and 3) a sufficient (early) attention for values, both values of user-groups and values of the management. People-oriented Living labs tend to differ from institution-oriented Living labs regarding these critical factors. Further, universities tend to take on diverse roles and strength of involvement, while the business sector tends to be actively involved only if this has been set as an explicit aim at start. The paper closes with a summary and future research paths.
Social media comprises a vast and consequential landscape that has been poorly mapped and understood. Hundreds of millions of people have eagerly moved many of the conversations and discussions that compose civil society into these services and platforms. There is a need to document and analyze these social spaces for many academic and commercial purposes. The Social Media Research Foundation has engaged a strategy to cultivate better research into the structure and dynamics of social media. The foundation is dedicated to the creation of open tools, open data, and open scholarship related to social media. It has implemented a free and open network collection, analysis, and visualization tool called NodeXL to facilitate social media network research. Using NodeXL a group of researchers has collectively authored a publicly available archive, called the NodeXL Graph Gallery, composed of network data sets and visualizations from users around the world. This site has enabled the aggregation of tens of thousands of network datasets and images. Use of the archive has led to scholarly research results that are based on the wide range and scope of social media data sets available.
This paper investigates the status of the merger between the mid front unrounded vowels ㅔ[e] and ㅐ[${\varepsilon}$] in contemporary Korean. Our analysis is based on a balanced corpus of production and perception data from young subjects from three dialectal areas (Seoul, Daegu and Gwangju). Except for expected gender differences, the production data display no difference in the realization of these vowels, in any of the dialects. The perception data, while mostly in line with the production results, show that Seoul females tend to better discriminate the two vowels in terms of perceived height: vowels with a lower F1 are more likely to be categorized as ㅔ by this group. We then investigate the possible causes of this merger: based on an empirical study of transcribed spoken Korean, we show that the pair of vowels ㅔ/ㅐ has a very low functional load. We argue that this factor, together with the phonetic similarity of the two vowels, may have been responsible for the observed merger.
The Incoterms, short for "International Commercial Terms," have been widely used as International Rules for the Interpretation of Trade Terms since 1936. The Incoterms have been revised six times in order to adapt them to contemporary commercial practice. The current version is Incoterms 2000. The revised version of Incoterms 2000 will be published in the fourth quarter of 2010 and will be effective from January 1st 2010. The first and second draft of Incoterms 2010 have been carried out by a small global Drafting Group, representing seven nationalities and various areas of substantive expertise. In this paper, I reviewed the main contents in the 2nd Draft of Incoterms 2010. This paper contributes to help the parties concerned to understand the new changes from Incoterms 2000 and to choose the appropriate trade term.
In order to understand China's internet governance, this paper examined 1,931 Internet policies of China by bibliometric techniques. Specifically, the bibliometric techniques include simple document counting, co-word analysis, collaboration network analysis and citation analysis. The findings include: (1) China's Internet legislations mainly emphasized e-commerce and Internet governance, and, to some extent, neglected personal data protection; (2) China's Internet is under intensive multiple regulatory controls by central government. A large number of government agencies are involved in Internet policy-making. The Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Information Leading Group of the State Council, enforced fewer policy documents, but occupy higher positions in the Internet governance hierarchy; (3) China's Internet legislation system is primarily composed of industry-specific administrative rules, rather than laws or administrative regulations. Nevertheless, laws and administrative regulations received significantly more citations owing to their superior force. This paper also discussed current gaps in China's internet governance and how the country's internet policies are situated in the broader global context.
