  • This paper describes the influence of rainfall on contamination at stream around the developed quarry. The investigation results are analyzed to evaluate the relationship rainfall and heavy metals (or water pollution). In the relationship rainfall and heavy metals, the result showed that the heavy metal contaminations are caused by boulder stone, waste residue and stone sludge, which is reacted with the direct contamination source, in the burried layer. It also found that the water flow change of stream according to the rainfall increase affected the large effect to a contamination level of heavy metal. the water pollution was increased by time changed from the rainy season to the dry season. That is, a lot of suspended solids had been discharge from the developed quarry due to rainfall increase, and then pollution level of water increases as the undercurrent of suspended solids is generated in stream due to rainfall decrease. Therefore, it analyzed that continuous causes of heavy metal contamination and water pollution in stream are materials in the burried layer and a discharge of pollution source from the developed quarry due to rainfall.

  • With the increase of metal usage in various industries, metal pollution and ecological toxicity in the environmental system have become a significant concern. A geo-statistical index has been widely used to determine contamination level with normalization through a background value. In this study, geo-statistical indexes such as an enrichment factor, accumulation index, and potential ecological risk index were used to assess metal pollution in soil at locations associated with shipbuilding manufacturing industries. Metal contamination, especially of Cu and Pb, was observed in some samples located closer to manufacturing sites. Enrichment factor and accumulation (IGEO) values were indicative of concerning levels of soil contamination in specific samples, and the soil contamination could be induced by anthropogenic sources. In further study, after more detailed sampling for soil and potential pollution sources, high interpretation techniques such as Pb isotope analysis and X-ray analysis will be needed to investigate source identification.

  • Flow characteristics and contamination behavior in a three-dimensional room with the desk-type obstacle have been investigated numerically by the k-${\varepsilon}$ two equation turbulence model. The room model has one supply opening on the ceiling and two exhaust openings on the side walls. Thirty six sets of calculation have been performed for twelve contamination sources of $1{\times}10^{-4}kg_c/(m^3{\cdot}s)$ strength at different inlet velocities(0.1, 1, 10m/s). This study can conclude that the source points of contaminant are located near the obstacle edge of Z-axis, at which the maximum contaminant diffusion fields are occured.

  • Particle contamination in a cleanroom is very complex with a complicated process and several pieces of spreading equipment. Detailed information on the locations of the contamination sources and the path of the contamination is needed for economical and efficient control of the contaminant particles in such a cleanroom. An allocation method was developed to quantitatively predict the contamination generated from the pollution sources. In this paper, we propose a zoning method to accelerate the computation time for estimating the contributions. Our results showed that we can quantitatively estimate the amount of contamination generated from pollution sources.

  • A national survey for enteric virus contamination in treated water and its source water was performed from March to November 1999. The water samples were subjected to virus filtration at the major water plants producing over 10$^5$ tons treated water per day. Twenty surveyed sites encompass most of heavily populated residential area except for Seoul and Pusan. (omitted)

  • Seom River was major branch of Namhan river, consist of primary basin that Wonjoo-city, Hoingsung-gun and primary contamination source was sewage from human lives. This study was evaluated production contamination loading of each branch basin and water quality grade and water quality simulation by QUAL2E to provide efficient contaminations source control. Rusult of survey, production loading of BOD, T-N, T-P were 26,591 kg/day, 4,560 kg/day, 731 kg/day resectively. Water quality analysis in 17 points of main stream were appeared that 1st grade(BOD 1 mg/l under) was 6 point, 2nd grade was 9 point and 3rd grade was 2 point. And result of water quality analysis for branch steram, first grade was evaluated 68.7%. Based of field data, calibration and verification result were in good agreement with mesured value within coefficient of variance were from 2.59% to 18.73%, from 6.39%, to 28.46%, respectively.

  • The accumulation of salt contamination could be the source of electrical accident. The degree of contamination on outdoor insulator is represented by ESDD(equivalent salt deposit density). The salt is transported by the wind to the outdoor insulator and cleaned by the rain. So, we can estimate the relation between climatic data and ESDD by using the multiple regression method. The results of pre-study presented the high relation coefficient(0.874). But these results couldn't apply to another period So, this paper improves above problem by mathematical process of climatic data The main method is accumulation of passed climatic data and conversion of the rainfall by the wind. Then, we confirmed the increasement of relation coefficient(0.898).
