  • In this study, the effects of corn peptide consumption on plasma lipid profiles were investigated in high cholesterol diet-fed rats. Male Sprague-Dawley rats (n = 21) were fed with corn peptide-free (control) diet, diets containing 2% or 5% com peptide for 5 weeks. Hypercholesterolemia was induced by adding l% cholesterol and 0.5% cholic acid to all diets. No difference was found in food intake and body weight gain among groups. The corn peptide treated groups showed significant improvement in the plasma level of HDL-cholesterol (p<0.05) compared to the control group, while the plasma total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol were not affected.5oio corn peptide supplemented diet reduced plasma level of triglycerides (p<0.05) The atherogenic index was decreased in the corn peptide treated groups. These results suggest that consumption of corn peptide may lead to an amelioration of metabolic syndrome as well as a reduction of cardiovascular disease and hyperlipidemia through increasing the level of HDL-cholesterol, and decreasing the level of triglycerides in plasma.

  • We proposed a new cross-coupled level shifter circuit using low temperature poly-Si(LTPS) TFT. The proposed level shifter can operate on low input voltage in spite of low mobility and widely varying high threshold voltage of LTPS TFT. Also, the proposed level shifter operates at high frequency and reduces power consumption for having fast rising and falling time and shortening period flowing short-circuit currents.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate some influencing factors related to housewives' environmental concern and environmental management behavior. Data were collected from questionaire with 786 housewives who live in Jeonbuk area. The results could be summarized as follows. The level of environmental concern was relatively high and differed significantly according to the level of innovation, residence, the level of education, and age of wives. But the level of environmental management behavior was relatively low, especially clothing disposal behavior and buying something to eat. These findings pointed that the program of environmental education should be more pragmatic.

  • 농업부문의 에너지 관련 정책의 합리적인 수립을 위해서 농업부문의 에너지 수급을 예측하고, 농가 에너지 소비현황을 파악해야 한다. 특히 에너지원별 및 작물별 소비량을 파악하는 것이 중요하다. 또한 최근 기후 온난화에 대응하여 세계는 온실가스를 의무적으로 감축하고자 하며, 우리나라도 2020년 까지 온실가스 배출 전망치의 30%를 감축하기로 하고, 관련법을 제정하였다. 국가 온실가스 감축목표 달성을 위해 농림어업부문은 5.2%의 감축목표를 설정하였다. 농업부문 온실가스 배출은 에너지 소비와 관련되어 있어 감축목표 이행을 위한 합리적인 정책 수립을 위해서 작물별 및 에너지원별 온실가스 배출량 수준을 파악하는 것이 필요하다. 이 연구는 농업부문 탄소배출량 및 에너지 소비량 수준을 파악하기 위해 기반이 되는 표본설계에 중점을 두고, 조사 및 추정 오차를 줄이고, 신뢰도를 높일 수 있는 설계 방안을 제안하고 있다. 농업부문 에너지 소비실태 조사를 위한 모집단을 농업총조사 자료를 기준으로 설정하였고, 왜도(Skewness)가 높은 품목과 전국적으로 재배가 분산된 품목들에 대해서는 주산지를 대상으로 표본 추출틀을 설정하는 등 통계적으로 유의한 범위에서 규모를 절사하였다. 표본의 수는 품목별 각 층의 경계를 결정한 이후 95% 신뢰수준을 활용하여 네이만 할당방식에 의해 설정되었다. 또한 이 연구는 품목별로 추출된 표본을 이용하여 도출된 추정결과와 모수를 비교 검정하고, 오차를 관리하는 방법을 제안하고 있다.

The Apparel Purchasing Behavior of Adult Female Group Segmented by Their Materialism

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the apparel purchasing behavior of adult women consumer groups divided by materialism. The specific objects of this study were ; 1) to examine the degree of materialism, impulsive buying, and conspicuous consumption. 2) to examine the correlation between impulsive buying, materialism, and conspicuous consumption, and to examine the relative influences of impulsive buying, materialism affecting conspicuous consumption. 3) to classify groups according to the level of the propensity for materialism, and to examine the clothing purchasing behavior of the divided groups. Data were administered to 357 adult women living in Sunchol from June to July 1999. For analysis of the data, factor analysis, one-way ANOVE, duncan's multiple range test, frequency and χ²-test were employed. The results of this study were summarized as follows. 1. Materialism and impulsive buying have shown higher than middle score, and conspicuous consumption has shown similar to middle score. 2. The correlation between materialism, impulsive buying, and conspicuous consumption has shown similar to middle score. The higher the materialism and experience of impulsive buying was, the higher was the conspicuous consumption. According to the results of regression analysis examining the relative influence of variables affecting conspicuous consumption. According to the results of regression analysis examining the relative influence of variables affecting conspicuous consumption, the relative importance of the variables were in the order of ; success-symbolic materialism, life-centered materialism, happiness-pursuing materialism, in the order of ; success-symbolic materialism, life-centered materialism, happiness-pursuing materialism, impulsive buying and their explanatory power totalled 35.2%. 3. Evaluating attributes of product, the type of purchasing store, the place of purchasing, the need of high class department store, purchasing price range, and accompanying people when purchasing were the factors influencing the apparel purchasing behavior.

정보통신 및 전력 제품에 대한 소비자 효율성 연구 (Analysis on Consumption Efficiency of IT and Electronic Products)

  • 시장에는 다양한 속성과 가격의 제품이 동시에 존재하고 있으며, 소비자가 이 제품들 중에서 어떠한 제품을 선택했는지 살펴봄으로써 그 소비 행위가 어느 정도 효율적이었는지 판단할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 소비 효율성을 가격과 속성의 관점에서 정의하고, DEA 기법을 이용하여 한국의 주요 정보통신 및 전력 제품에 대한 소비자 효율성을 측정하고자 하였다. 분석 결과 에어컨, TV, 디지털 카메라, MP3 플레이어, 컴퓨터 시장에서는 상대적 효율성이 낮은 제품이 많이 선택된 반면, 냉장고와 세탁기 시장에서는 소비자의 효율성 분포가 정규 분포에 가까운 형태로 나타났다. 또한 정보 구득 관련 항목에 대한 설문 결과를 함께 고려하여 제품별 효율성 차이를 설명하고자 하였으며, 마지막으로 개별 소비자의 효율성과 특성 변수가 전력 사용량에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 본 연구는 소비 효율성이라는 개념을 정량적으로 측정하여 해당 제품의 시장에 대한 유용한 정보를 제공할 수 있으며, 제품의 구매와 에너지 사용을 함께 고려함으로써 분석의 범위를 확대하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

우리나라 일부 초등학생의 건강기능식품 섭취 실태 (Consumption of Health Functional Foods by Elementary Schoolchildren in Korea)

  • We surveyed 837 students attending elementary schoolchildren in Korea for health functional foods (HFF) consumption and significant variables for their HFF consumption including demographic characteristics, parental health concern on offsprings, food eating frequency of subjects and beliefs on potential efficacy of HFF by subjects. The consumption prevalence of HFF was 45.9%, and among all types of HFF, nutritional supplements were taken most frequently, followed by apricot extract-fermented products > lactic acid bacteria containing products > EPA/DHA containing products > red ginseng products. HFF consumption was higher in subjects had parents of high education level (p < .05) and those from families with a high socioeconomic status (p < .01) in comparison to each corresponding group. Health concern on offsprings by parents (p < .001) and consumption ratio of HFF by family (p < .001) was higher in consumers than in nonconsumers of HFF. Total score of dietary assessment was higher in consumers than in nonconsumers of HFF (p < .01), and consumers had a more positive view concerning the potential efficacy of HFF than did nonconsumers (p < .001). Most consumers of HFF took HFF when they were healthy (42.5%), and they did not feel special effects through HFF consumption (47.7%). Most consumers of HFF got the information on HFF from family and relatives (24.8%), and most of them purchased HFF at pharmacy or oriental medicine clinics (53.9%). HFF consumers preferred multi-vitamins and Ca-supplements most among the vitamin mineral supplements belonged to HFF. Given the widespread consumption of HFF by elementary schoolchildren, the reasonable consumption of these products for the contribution to their overall health and well-being should be emphasized through nutrition education for them and their family.

도심 엔터테인먼트 쇼핑센터(UEC)의 테넌트 배치 형태에 관한 연구 (A Study on the pattern of tenant layout in the Urban Entertainment Center)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the pattern of tenant layout for selected cases of five different Urban Entertainment Center(UEC) in Seoul. This research deals with the process of gaining tenant layout pattern of 40 different types. It is composed of three combination unit with tenants of the same or different consumption mode, which is divided into four different functions of retail, entertainment, dining, and service. Then, every tenant of research cases is classified as one of the fabric type, and the data is analyzed to gain its frequency rate with SPSS 14.0 program. The following is the overall explanation of the result for this research. The frequency of tenant layout pattern between the same consumption mode shows the high rate when compared to the other patterns with different consumption mode. For example, the frequency rate of tenant layout pattern which retail and dining consumption mode are placed side by side like RRR and DDD is high. Interestingly, the frequency rate of RRR type of tenant layout pattern that sells the similar products shows especially high level. It can provide the effective environment for shoppers to compare retail goods in many different stores as producing synergic effects when they are located near each other, so this strategy should be considered when planning tenants in UEC environment. Moreover, in case of dining tenants, when they are clustered together in the UEC environment it can play a role as an anchor tenant. Tenant layout pattern of dining-retail and dining-service consumption mode shows the high frequency rate than other layout pattern with other consumption mode. Besides, entertainment consumption tenants combined with dining or retail tenants show the high frequency rate when compared to the pattern combined with service consumption mode.

양식어류의 소비 패턴에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Consumption Pattern of Aquacultured Marine Fishes)

  • This paper is to analyze the past and present consumption pattern of fishes aquacultured in marine waters and thus to draw the policy direction to enhance the competitiveness of marine fish aquaculture in Korea. At present, the volume of meat consumption is surveyed to be more than that of marine fish, but it is revealed that fish consumption will become more increasing in the future according to the rise of the income. The survey shows that the consumption of fish is highest in the fall, and among the various patterns of consumption, live fish, so-called susi, is surveyed to be highly dominant. It is revealed that fish is enjoyed because of the special savor, diverse nutrients, and the prevention of adult diseases. Natural fish Is revealed to be more preferred to aquacultured one due to the sticky flesh quality and the low probability of the remained after the production process antibiotics, so that it is necessary to enhance the taste quality and make a clean cultivation to capture more market demand. Consumption of high-quality fish seems to become high in more than middle class and consumption of fish are estimated to increase in the future, more than that of meat if income level of the people increases. Also, if we try to make our high-quality fish become popular among the public and competible with the imported fish from abroad, it is recommended that they must lower production price by cost reduction and try to differentiate it by taste and environmental safety, etc. It was revealed that the significant factor in demand function for fish is income and it is almost the only factor affecting that demand. Also, it was revealed that the most significant factor affecting preference of fish is income and it Is almost the only factor affecting the preference. Therefore, we can ascertain that if proper goods can be distributed, demand for and preference of fish may increase according to the increase of income in the future.

Associations between food consumption/dietary habits and the risks of obesity, type 2 diabetes, and hypertension: a cross-sectional study in Jakarta, Indonesia

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to assess the current mean daily intake of 10 food groups, analyze the sociodemographic factors associated with food consumption, and determine the associations between food consumption/dietary intake and the prevalence rates of obesity, type 2 diabetes (T2D), and hypertension (HTN) in Jakarta, Indonesia. SUBJECTS/METHODS: A total of 600 participants aged 20-85 yrs were included in this cross-sectional study. Food consumption and dietary habits were assessed using a food frequency questionnaire. To determine the association between food consumption/dietary habits and the abovementioned diseases, logistic regression analysis was performed. RESULTS: The average vegetable and fruit intake was lower, while sugar and salt consumption were higher than that recommended by Indonesia's national dietary guidelines. A high intake of ultra-processed foods (UPFs) was associated with young age, men, "single" status, a high education level, and employment with a high monthly income. Obesity and T2D were positively correlated with high intakes of cereals and tubers, UPFs, sugars, fats, and oils. Conversely, an inverse association was found between legume, vegetable, and fruit consumption and obesity risk. An inverse correlation was also observed between vegetable consumption and T2D risk. Moreover, a high salt intake was inversely correlated with fruit consumption in terms of HTN risk. Non-indulgence in habitual late-night snacking and refrainment from consuming more than one dish at each meal were also negatively related to the prevalence of obesity, T2D, and HTN. Inverse correlations were also observed between the prevalence rates of T2D and HTN and abstaining from adding sugar to beverages. CONCLUSION: Foods high in fat, sugar, and sodium were strongly associated with the risks of obesity, T2D, and HTN. Additionally, poor eating habits were also associated with disease development.
