오일소모 측정센서를 이용한 오일소모량의 실시간 측정 (On-line Measurement of Oil Consumption Using Oil Consumption Meter)

  • Several methods were developed for on-line measuring oil consumption in gasoline engine using an oil consumption meter. The oil consumption meter indicates the oil quantity by real-time-measuring the oil level in the sump. In order to measure the oil consumption, the oil consumption meter proposed in this paper requires shorter time, less additional procedures, and shows better results than the traditional drain method. Under steady-state engine-operating conditions, the results obtained through the regression or the difference method show an good agreement with those through the drain method. Under transient engine-operating conditions, on the other hand, good results can be obtained through the reference method.

Food and nutrient Intake in Relation to Alcohol consumption in the Korean National Health and Nutrition Survey

  • Dietary pattern in relation to alcohol consumption was studied in 7,370 Korean adults aged 20 years and older in 1998 Koran National Health and Nutrition Survey in which 24 hour recall method was used for dietary survey, The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of alcohol consumption on food and nutrient intake among Koreans, Individual drinking data was collected by interview as a part of health behavior survey T est was adopted to between nutrient intake level and drinking status. Drinkers of both sexes showed less consumption of foods from vegetable origins than non-drinkers, Consequently,. They also had significantly less carbohydrate consumption then non-drinker. This result may suggest that diets of Korean drinkers is unbalanced in terms of low consumption of food from vegetable origin and carbohydrate, Nutrition education should focus on those issues to improve the nutritional status and prevent potential risk disease by unbalanced diet.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a computer software titled "Compare & Evaluation Program for Household Consumption". This software is developed in Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0. For the data of this program, the family Income and Expenditure Survey(1998) produced by the National Statistical Office in Korea is used. This program compares income and consumption expenditure for each household with those for standard household according to income level and family life cycle. This program gives information and suggestion for household consumers to manage rational household consumption. Also this study investigates validity and usefulness of the software program by interviewing 20 households used this program.

  • A custom-made display driver for an electronic paper is presented, which has high-voltage multilevel output capability and extremely low power consumption. An original level-shifter circuit can effectively reduce the power consumption and the chip area. This driver was implemented to a Quick-Response Liquid Powder Display (QR-LPD) and the image quality and power consumption was estimated.

소비자의 환경의식과 의생활 행동과의 관련성 (Environmental Perception of Consumers and Clothing Consumption Behavior)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify environmental perception of clothing consumption behavior taking socioo-economic variables into account. An instrument, based on previous research was administered to 213 housewives in Taegu area. In analyzing the data, factor analysis, t-test, ANOVA, regression analysis were used. The finding of this indicated that the environmental perception of clothing consumption were significant in purchasing, managing, and disposal of clothing. Among socio-economics variables, income and educational level were found to be significant in explaining the variance of enviromental perception behavior of clothing consumption. The important results of this study are discussed and implications are provided.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate consumption values of adolescent consumers and related variables. The data were collected from self administered questionnaire with 560 students attending 6 middle/5 high schools in Seoul. Sub dimensions of each consumption value were extracted through factor analysis. Differences were found on some sub dimensions of each consumption value according to demographic variables, consumer abilities and the level of mother's consumer socialization practice perceived by students.

남녀대학생의 외모관리행동에 관한 소비감정 연구 (A Study on Consumption Emotion of the Appearance Management Behaviors in University Students)

  • Attention to appearance is a common concern for all. Images created by appearance play an important role in judging people in terms of social life in contemporary society. This study investigated general behaviours of appearance management behaviours of both male and female college students, and categorised consumption emotion experienced by appearance management. In this regards, it was examined how consumers' psychological mechanism of consumption emotions influences consumers' satisfaction and their behavioural intentions. The main results are as follows: First, female students invest more time and money into appearance management compare to male students and have a higher level of attention. Secondly, both male and female students experience a variety of consumption emotions in appearance management behaviours. According to gender, female students show a higher level of positive and negative consumption emotions than male students. Thirdly, there are five emotional types (Confidence, Annoyance, Refreshment, Enjoyment, Anxiety) as the result of the consumption emotional typology in terms of appearance management behaviours of male and female university students. Fourthly, there are different emotional groups which influence consumers' satisfaction or behavioural intention according to gender in appearance management behaviour. In general, emotional groups such as 'Confidence, Delight and Anxiety' have a positive influence on consumers' satisfaction and behavioral intention, and 'Annoyance' composed of negative emotions have negative influence. In this respect, this research can contribute to beauty product development and marketing strategy with reflecting consumption emotion, and better understanding of consumption culture of university students which plays a pivotal role in appearance management behavior.

한국 중년여성의 전곡류 섭취수준과 영양소 섭취 및 대사적 위험지표의 연관성 (Association of Whole Grain Consumption with Nutrient Intakes and Metabolic Risk Factors in Generally Healthy Korean Middle-Aged Women)

  • Objectives: Epidemiological studies have suggested that a higher consumption of whole grain foods can significantly reduce the risk of chronic diseases including cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes and obesity. The objective of the current study was to examine associations among the consumption of whole grains and nutrient intakes and biochemical indicators associated with chronic diseases among generally healthy middle-aged Korean women. Methods: Using 24-hour recall data from the 2008-2009 National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys, whole grain intake (g/day) was calculated for a total of generally healthy 1,953 subjects. The subjects were divided into three groups by the level of whole grain consumption (0 g/day, > 0 and < 20 g/day or ${\geq}20g/day$). Mean values or proportions of various nutrient intakes and metabolic risk factors were compared according to the level of whole grain consumption. All statistical analysis was conducted using SAS software version 9.2. Results: We observed that the overall consumption of whole grains was quite low. Specifically, 58.2% of subjects reported no whole grain consumption on the day of the survey, and the mean whole grain intake was only 15.3 g/day. The whole grain consumption was positively associated with intakes of various macro and micronutrients, namely, plant proteins and fats, dietary fiber, calcium, plant iron, potassium, zinc, vitamin A, ${\beta}$-carotene, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin $B_6$ and folic acid. In addition, we found significantly decreasing trends in abdominal obesity and hypertriglyceridemia as whole grain intake levels increase. Conclusions: The study findings suggested the importance of promoting whole grain consumption as an efficient tool for improving various dietary aspects and preventing chronic diseases.

흡연과 Carotenoid 함유 식품 섭취빈도에 따른 지질과산화 및 항산화능 비교 (Effect of Smoking and Carotenoid-rich Food Consumption on Lipid Peroxidation and Antioxidant Status)

  • This study was performed to determine the effect of carotenoid-rich food consumption and smoking on the lipid peroxidation and antioxidant status in human. The subjects consisted of the health 210 middle-aged adults who visited health care center in the Inha University hospital. The blood and urine samples of the subjects were taken to analyze serum lipid profiles, plasma TBARS, total antioxidant status (TAS) and urinary 8-isoprostanes concentration. The anthropometric indices of the subjects were measured. The nutritional intake and the frequency of carotenoid-rich food consumption was determined by semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire survey. HDL-cholesterol level of the smoking subjects was significantly lower than that of the non-smoking subjects in men. In the analysis of the carotenoid-rich food consumption, the frequency of pepper and tomato consumption of the non-smoking subjects was significantly higher than that of the smoking subjects in men. In women, the Sequency of pear and peach consumption of the non-smoking subjects was significantly higher than that of the smoking subjects. HDL-cholesterol level of the high carotenoid rich food consumption group was significantly higher than that of medium and low group in women. TAS of the high carotenoid rich food consumption group was significantly higher than that of medium and low group. In conclusion, carotenoid intakes seemed to be effective to reduce lipid peroxidation and increase antioxidant status in the body. The frequency of the carotenoid-rich food consumption seemed to be lower in the smokers than in the non-smokers. However, further researches consisted of large-scaled and randomized clinical trials are required to determine whether carotenoids have any other beneficial effect in human. Feeding characteristics in infancy affect fruit and vegetable consumption and dietary variety in early childhood

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Previous studies have shown an association between breastfeeding and higher fruit and vegetable consumption and the level of dietary variety in children. However, few studies have reported this association on the feeding characteristics. Therefore, this study examined the association of the feeding characteristics with the consumption of fruit and vegetable and dietary variety in children. SUBJECTS/METHODS: This study recruited 802 participants from their parents with information on their feeding, and 24-h dietary recall. The associations of the feeding characteristics with fruit and vegetable consumption and dietary variety score (DVS) were analyzed using a multiple logistic regression model. RESULTS: Compared to the feeding type of exclusive breastfed children, exclusive formula-fed children had a significant association with a lower DVS (odds ratio [OR], 0.42, 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.23-0.77). Fruit and vegetable consumption was classified into 6 groups: non-salted vegetables (NSV), salted vegetables (SV), fruit (F), total vegetables (TV), non-salted vegetables + fruit (NSVF), and total vegetables + fruit (TVF). According to the mean level of fruit and vegetable consumption, compared to the duration of total breastfeeding for 6 month or less, a greater duration of breastfeeding for 12 mon had a significant association with a higher intake of NSVF and TVF (OR, 1.85, 95% CI, 1.20-2.85 and OR, 1.89, 95% CI, 1.22-2.92). On the other hand, the early introduction of formula feeding for 4 mon had a significant association with a lower intake of F and NSVF (OR, 0.59, 95% CI, 0.38-0.91 and OR, 0.63, 95% CI, 0.40-0.99). CONCLUSIONS: These results confirm that breastfeeding is associated with higher fruit and vegetable consumption and dietary variety, whereas formula feeding is associated with lower fruit and vegetable consumption and dietary variety. Therefore, the feeding characteristics in infants may affect fruit and vegetable consumption and dietary variety in children.
