Traditional companies with offline stores were unable to secure large display space due to the problems of cost. This limitation inevitably allowed limited kinds of products to be displayed on the shelves, which resulted in consumers being deprived of the opportunity to experience various items. Taking advantage of the virtual space called the Internet, online shopping goes beyond the limits of limitations in physical space of offline shopping and is now able to display numerous products on web pages that can satisfy consumers with a variety of needs. Paradoxically, however, this can also cause consumers to experience the difficulty of comparing and evaluating too many alternatives in their purchase decision-making process. As an effort to address this side effect, various kinds of consumer's purchase decision support systems have been studied, such as keyword-based item search service and recommender systems. These systems can reduce search time for items, prevent consumer from leaving while browsing, and contribute to the seller's increased sales. Among those systems, recommender systems based on association rule mining techniques can effectively detect interrelated products from transaction data such as orders. The association between products obtained by statistical analysis provides clues to predicting how interested consumers will be in another product. However, since its algorithm is based on the number of transactions, products not sold enough so far in the early days of launch may not be included in the list of recommendations even though they are highly likely to be sold. Such missing items may not have sufficient opportunities to be exposed to consumers to record sufficient sales, and then fall into a vicious cycle of a vicious cycle of declining sales and omission in the recommendation list. This situation is an inevitable outcome in situations in which recommendations are made based on past transaction histories, rather than on determining potential future sales possibilities. This study started with the idea that reflecting the means by which this potential possibility can be identified indirectly would help to select highly recommended products. In the light of the fact that the attributes of a product affect the consumer's purchasing decisions, this study was conducted to reflect them in the recommender systems. In other words, consumers who visit a product page have shown interest in the attributes of the product and would be also interested in other products with the same attributes. On such assumption, based on these attributes, the recommender system can select recommended products that can show a higher acceptance rate. Given that a category is one of the main attributes of a product, it can be a good indicator of not only direct associations between two items but also potential associations that have yet to be revealed. Based on this idea, the study devised a recommender system that reflects not only associations between products but also categories. Through regression analysis, two kinds of associations were combined to form a model that could predict the hit rate of recommendation. To evaluate the performance of the proposed model, another regression model was also developed based only on associations between products. Comparative experiments were designed to be similar to the environment in which products are actually recommended in online shopping malls. First, the association rules for all possible combinations of antecedent and consequent items were generated from the order data. Then, hit rates for each of the associated rules were predicted from the support and confidence that are calculated by each of the models. The comparative experiments using order data collected from an online shopping mall show that the recommendation accuracy can be improved by further reflecting not only the association between products but also categories in the recommendation of related products. The proposed model showed a 2 to 3 percent improvement in hit rates compared to the existing model. From a practical point of view, it is expected to have a positive effect on improving consumers' purchasing satisfaction and increasing sellers' sales.
BACKGROUND: This study was performed to evaluate the residue dissipation of boscalid and spinetoram on crown daisy and sweet pepper affected by the morphology of the crop. The half-lives and dissipation rate constants for boscalid and spinetoram on crown daisy and sweet pepper were calculated. And then lower limit of 95% confidence interval for dissipation rate constant could be used to propose the pre-harvest residue limit. METHODS AND RESULTS: The pesticide products diluted according to the pesticide label were applied one time on crown daisy and sweet pepper at 2 field sites, respectively. Initial concentration of boscalid and spinetoram on crown daisy after application were in the range of 72.80~117.15 mg/kg and 2.82~4.67 mg/kg, respectively. And Initial concentration of boscalid and spinetoram on sweet pepper were in the range of 1.58~1.62 mg/kg and 0.10~0.21 mg/kg, respectively. Boscalid and spinetoram for crown daisy dissipted below the maximum residue limit(MRL) at 10 and 2 days after application, respectively. All residues concentration of boscalid and spinetoram for sweet pepper below the MRL at 0 day after application. The half-lives based on dissipation rate constant for boscalid and spinetoram on crown daisy were 4.2~4.9 days and 3.0~2.4 days respectively. And the half-lives for boscalid and spinetoram on sweet pepper were 6.7~7.0 days and 2.8~4.0 days respectively. CONCLUSION: The difference in initial concentration of boscalid and spinetoram among crop commodities were due to different crop morphology with larger surface areas. This study was suggested that pre-harvest residue limit would be calculated from lower limit of 95% confidence interval for dissipation rate constant and would be useful to protect consumers by controlling the pesticide residues in crop.
Purpose - The objective of this paper is to suggest that a company's CRM activities have an effect on customer loyalty in the Korean retail industry. Typically, Korean customers use large local marts with convenience in the absence of any other choice. Therefore, this study aims to shed light on the fact that customers do not break away from their preferred retail stores, either owing to their stringent loyalty (the lie loyalty) or difficulty in turning to alternative choices. Research design, data, methodology - By surveying a sample of 200 hyper-markets through a questionnaire, and excluding dubious and missing responses, I obtained 181 samples to be included in the empirical analysis. The survey was conducted for two weeks during October 2011. AMOS and SPSS18 statistical packages were used for conducting statistical analysis for this study. This paper was developed using the concept of customer equity on CRM, which is known to have a positive impact on customer loyalty through the satisfaction and switching-barrier parameters. The hypothesis of this paper is that customer equity is composed of relationship equity, value equity and brand equity, and that the relationship equity variable has positive effects on the value equity and brand equity amongst other types of customer equity. Moreover, customer equity influences customer loyalty through parameters including customer satisfaction and switching costs in the Korean retail industry. Results - According to the results of the analysis, it was confirmed that relationship value had a positive effect (+) on all variables, including the perceived QoS (Quality of Service), store brand images, economic value, and store convenience. It was also confirmed that the assumption that the perceived QoS (Quality of Service), economic value, and store convenience had a positive effect on customer satisfaction was shown to be statistically significant, with a p-value below 0.05. Only the store brand value variable had an effect on the switching-cost variable with respect to the causal sequence of the variables, including the perceived QoS, store brand value, economic value, and store convenience. The remaining variables did not seem to influence the switching-cost variable. On the other hand, another effect showed that customer satisfaction had a statistically significant influence on the switching-costs variable. Moreover, the customer satisfaction and switching-cost variables also had a statistical influence on customer loyalty. Conclusions - The CRM activities had an influence on various variables (including perceived QoS, perceived economic value, store brand value, and store convenience) pertaining to customer values. Customer satisfaction and switching-cost had some effects on customer loyalty as a parameter. This confirms that stringent loyalty exists with respect to customer loyalty in the retail industry. The fact that the variable had such a statistically significant influence on the switching-cost and store brand equity variables means that consumers react to the reputation of a brand, confidence about the store, and quality confidence. The implications of this study in the retail industry should be further extended to devise strategies for customer retention.
Constructing the Metropolitan Railway Express (the GTX) may have an impact on consumer confidence and housing sales price located near the planned route. This study looked at how consumers' psychology and housing prices change as the large-scale transport infrastructure plane was planned. Also, it looked at the relationship between consumer sentiment and housing prices to analyze the impact of new transportation facilities inflows. Using a correlation analysis, the relationship between the consumer sentiment index and the actual transaction price of apartments was identified. The impact of GTX on the consumer sentiment index and the actual transaction price of apartments was looked at using the Difference-in-Differences methodology. Our finding shows that the construction plan of a large-scale transportation infrastructure in the metropolitan area affects the sentiment of housing consumption and actual transactions. In a situation where the government is speeding up the construction of a wide-area transportation network such as GTX with the goal of becoming a city where people can commute to downtown Seoul within 30 minutes, policies that can stabilize the housing market in transportation hubs should be suggested.

The objective of this study was to contribute to the enhancement of food labeling and the development of food labels which are more informative to consumers. The questionnaires had been collected from adult female consumers living in Seoul, Kyonggi, Choongnam and Chungbuk province. Out of 950 answers collected 792 were analyzed. Ninety two percent of respondents were aware of food labels, however only 67.6% of them knew about the fact that food labeling was regulated by the law. Respondents recognized the major purpose of food labeling as informing and protecting the consumer. Most of the respondents answered that they confirmed the contents of food labels at the time of purchase especially with regard to safety aspects, such as expiration on data and manufacture date. Eighty four percent of the respon dents showed confidence in the contents of food labels.The rests answered they were hot confident because they experienced directly, or indirectly discord of food contents in fact and in label.
The survey on consumption pattern of consumer for Korean traditional soy sauce and sensory evaluation of seaweed soups cooked with soy sauce were summarized as follows:1) 83.5% of the subjects used Korean traditional soy sauce to cook at home and the old subjects used it more than the young. 60.5% of soy sauce users made it at home and the old users showed the trend making it at home more than the young. 19.1% of the users were given it by relatives and 18.4% of the users bought it at the market and purchasing rate is higher in the young. 88.0% of the users consumed Korean traditional soysauce for the reason of umami taste and flavor. 27.5% and 27.5% of the users purchased it for the reasons of convenience and confidence respectively. 2) The most important characteristics of the Korean traditional soy sauce were responded to umami taste and flavor. The food having highest frequency to use Korean traditional soy sauce was seaweed soup (84.5%). 3) According to consumer sensory evaluation test of the seaweed soups cooked with soy sauce, preference was somewhat different with the age. It seemed that the old consumers prefered the seaweed soup cooked with Korean traditional soy sauce more than the young.
This study was accomplished to investigate the dietary life and their opinion about the food-nutrition labelling of 20's∼60's housewives in Seoul and Kyeonggi area. The results were as follows. Among subjects, 63.5% didn't make a budget for the food expenses because they did not practice habitually not only the budget-planning, but also the menu planning. They often brought the Kimchi from the relatives rather than preparing it by themselves. On the other hand, they often purchased the soy sauce, soybean paste and soybean paste mixed with red pepper. When purchasing the foods, the importantly considered factors were in the order of freshness, taste and nutritional quality. They thought the processed foods were convenient and economic in terms of time but were not beneficial for the health and low in the nutritional quality. The confirming degree of food-nutrition labelling was very low, but in case of confirming, they often confirmed the manufactured date and the expiration date in order to confirm the stability. The degree of confidence and understanding about food-nutrition labelling of subjects was average 3.3 out of 5. They wanted the nutrient content the most in the food-nutrition labelling on the package. They preferred it as the types of picture and graph rather than the table and descriptiption. The expected effects of food-nutrition labelling was that they might be helpful to select the foods for the prevention of the adult diseases and obesity. From the results, we proposed that the agencies and nutrition concerned consumers should make an every efforts for the successful implementation of food-nutrition labelling system.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes in pH in the oral cavity using the probiotic intake method. Methods: A total of 109 participants were enrolled and randomly assigned to three groups. Participants in the control group did not ingest powdered probiotics, those in experimental group 1 ingested powdered probiotics by dissolving them on the tongue, and those in experimental group 2 dissolved powdered probiotics on the tongue and rinsed with water. pH values were measured 5 times in all. The significance of each group was examined by the Kruskal-Wallis test. The trend over time was expressed as a graph with groupwise means and confidence intervals, considering repeated measurement data. Results: A significant difference was found between the control group and experimental group 1 at two time-points, i.e., immediately after intake and 3 min after ingestion. As a result of the time trend, the pH value of experimental group 2 was smaller than that of experimental group 1, compared to the control group. Conclusions: Studies have shown that taking probiotics with water may help reduce changes in oral pH. Probiotics should be aware of live bacteria and provide consumers with more detailed information on proper dosage and precautions.

This study examines the underwear purchase behaviors of female consumers based on fashion leadership. Data research was conducted on 348 females in their 20s and 30s located in the city of Seoul & the surrounding Gyeonggi provincial area. The SPSS 17.0 software program was used to conduct data analyses such as descriptive statistics, frequency analysis, factor analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA, and Scheffe's test as a post-hoc analysis. The results of this study are as follow. 1. Fashion leadership was identified with four factors; fashion opinion leadership, fashion innovation, confidence of fashion, and potential fashion leadership. Customers were segmented into the following three subdivisions: fashion leaders, fashion followers, and fashion laggards. 2. The factors derived from the factor analysis of underwear purchase motive included pursuit of fashion, economic, and fashion coordination. Fashion leaders highly regarded the pursuit of fashion & fashion coordination, but fashion laggards regarded economics highly. 3. The factors derived from the factor analysis of selection criteria included design attributes, brand attributes, functionality of clothes, and practicality. Fashion leaders regarded the attributes of design and brands highly; fashion followers regarded design attributes highly. 4. The factors derived from the factor analysis of underwear attitude included fashion/shopping orientation, fashion coordination orientation, and wear sensation/modesty orientation. Fashion leaders regarded fashion, shopping, design, and fashion coordination orientation highly relative to fashion followers and fashion laggards. 5. Fashion leadership showed significant differences in purchase motives, selection criteria, and underwear attitude.

Microelectronic product consumers may already be expecting another paradigm shift with smarter phones over smart phones, but the current status of microelectronic manufacturing engineering education (MMEE) in universities hardly makes up the pace for such a fast moving technology paradigm shift. The purpose of MMEE is to educate four-year university graduates to work in the microelectronics industry with up-to-date knowledge and self-motivation. In this paper, we present a comprehensive curriculum for a four-year university degree program in the area of microelectronics manufacturing. Three hands-on experienced-based courses are proposed, along with a methodology for undergraduate students to acquire hands-on experience, towards integrated circuits (ICs) design, fabrication and packaging, are presented in consideration of manufacturing engineering education. Semiconductor device and circuit design course for junior level is designed to cover how designed circuits progress to micro-fabrication by practicing full customization of the layout of digital circuits. Hands-on experienced-based semiconductor fabrication courses are composed to enhance students’ motivation to participate in self-motivated semiconductor fab activities by performing a series of collaborations. Finally, the Microelectronics Packaging course provides greater possibilities of mastered skillsets in the area of microelectronics manufacturing with the fabrication of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and board level assembly for microprocessor applications. The evaluation of the presented comprehensive curriculum was performed with a students’ survey. All the students responded with “Strongly Agree” or “Agree” for the manufacturing related courses. Through the development and application of the presented curriculum for the past six years, we are convinced that students’ confidence in obtaining their desired jobs or choosing higher degrees in the area of microelectronics manufacturing was increased. We confirmed that the hypothesis on the inclusion of handson experience-based courses for MMEE is beneficial to enhancing the motivation for learning.
