It is common for tall buildings in Korea to have a ground response that is highly sensitive to the behavior of the structure. Therefore, the geology of the ground needs to be carefully assessed and considered in the design process to accurately predict the performance of the foundation system. This paper sets out a systematic design approach and ground investigation methodology for the soil conditions frequently encountered in Korea. Various foundation design methods are introduced along with several case studies conducted in Korea.

The enterprise resource planning(ERP) system becomes more popular as a vehicle of realizing an integrated information system, because this system not only facilitates the reengineering of processes in a firm but also provides the function of generating consolidated financial statements. However, ERP vendors have unsuccessfully provided methodologies on the customization of ERP packages although one of the important issues during the implementation of an ERP package is how to customize it. The purpose of this paper is to build a strategy on the successful customization of ERP packages. The result from the analysis of interviews with 25 consultants and experts in the ERP field recommends 14 customization strategies of an ERP package in the four areas of a firm: management, technology, organization, and environment. The analysis of the feedback from the consultants and experts generates the ranking of the 14 customization strategies.

2006년 7월 15일${\sim}$17일 사이의 집중적인 호우는 강원도 지역에 많은 피해를 주었는데, 특히 강원도 인제, 양양, 평창지역에서의 피해로 수십명의 인명피해와 재산피해를 발생시켰다. 최근 들어 발생되는 집중호우로 인한 피해 중 토석류에 의한 피해가 많은 이유 중에는 지구온난화로 인한 100mm에 가까운 시간당 강우량을 보이고 있어 국내 산악지가 형성된 구간에서는 어느 지역이나 토석류가 발생될 가능성을 가지고 있다고 할 수 있다. 그러므로 본 논문은 2006년 7월에 발생된 강원도 인제, 양양지역을 중심으로 토석류 피해에 대하여 자료를 수집, 분석하였으며 토석류 발생기구 및 유형에 따른 피해정도와 저감방안에 대한 고찰을 실시하였다. 앞으로 빈번해지는 토석류에 대한 관리체계의 확립 및 보완대책과 토목공사시에 반영될 수 있는 방안 등을 모색해야 할 것이다.

In India, recycling of treated effluent plays a major role in the industry. Particularly in copper industry, recycling techniques for treated effluents adopt conventional technologies which are not energy efficient and recovery of high quality process water, free flowing salts and sludge's is very low. This paper presents an overview of enhanced modern technology for treated effluents in copper industry making it more efficient with high recovery of high quality process water and free flowing salts. Life cycle cost (LCC) would be 15-20% lower than the conventional technologies. The conventional technology can be replaced with this proposed technique in the existing and upcoming copper industries.
