  • Recently, the items of construction planning have magnified and specialized and the problems occurring at the first step of the construction planing process have complicated. In this research, AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) method which is simple to apply and clear to decide has been proposed when a people making a plan at the first step of the construction planing process. As an example, the best solution has been obtained in a railway construction line choice that consist of various items by applying for this method, which proves the possibility of application of this method to the complicated problems.

  • In the construction industry, construction process includes a variety of design stages with cooperation and regulation by many related disciplines. In addition, the construction market is growing and becoming more complex. With this characteristic, design information has become more and more complicated and difficult to manage by the simple and traditional data management methodology. In the practical field, although CAD has been widely available for the last ten years, related disciplines have not shared digital information efficiently. This paper suggests a construction CAD data exchange model that has been developed through investigation and analysis of Korean construction CAD practices and foreign CAD standards. Moreover, this paper investigates a CAD data exchange model using STEP to improve information availability and overcome the limit of CAD systems.

  • As construction projects become larger, higher and more complex, efficient use of information is increasingly more important. As a result, there is a growing demand to apply BIM data obtained in the design stage to the construction stage. In this study, we propose a BIM-based construction schedule management system in order to promote introduction and application of BIM in the construction stage. Specifically, we provided how to build BIM database to be used for construction schedule management, and proposed how to obtain progress information and enter information based on analysis of progress schedule. We also provided a system of classifying construction works for more systematic use of BIM database, a process of using BIM database in construction projects, and a step-by-step guideline on how to establish the system. The proposed construction schedule management system provides information on particular construction schedule, as well as information and progress chart on delayed parts of the work so that a change in schedule can be managed. Additionally, by linking system database with the BIM model, construction progress can be checked in 3D simulation and a delay in construction schedule can be managed. As a result, using BIM at construction sites contributes to improving project productivity.

  • We need the contingency cost in order to deal with the uncertainty to be accompanied inevitably at the construction and an every kind risk not to forecast in advance. And also the contingency colt needed for the change order and we need it for reduction of the delay and reduce the trouble between owner and constructor. This study, through checking and analyzing the risk factor, in the step of domestic construction, suggests optimal management reserve to specific business about the contract type and the scale. The main results of this research are summarized as follow. First, I investigated the recognition about the contingency cost, grasped the risk to be happened at the construction step and found out the frequency occurrence, through making up question to engineer are carrying out their job in the domestic construction. Second, I computed optimal contingency cost rate by the statistics investigation, and proposed an improvement plan and problem when compute a contingency cost.

  • A turnelling work beneath roadways or railways in use is unsafe and dangerous. A turnelling method should be analytically and experimentally studied to verify stability and safety of excavating works by construction step. The conventionally analytical method was ineffective in computational time and cost, so the new analytical method named homogenuity method, was developed and verified compared with analytical results. That method was applied to parameterly study the effect of distance of steel supports and overburdening height of soil. It showed that the homogenuity method was very practical and effective in step-by-step analysis considering construction sequences. A measuring device was set at the construction field and mechanical behavior was monitored during construction. Measuring values are larger than analytical values because impact of inserting steel pipes, lowering level of underground water and vibration of passing vehicles affected soil density during construction, but those values were within allowable limits.

A Study on the Application of the Two Step Supply System of Public Rental Housing - Focused on the cases of SI housing with skeleton rental in Japan - (공공임대주택의 2단계 공급방식 적용 방안에 관한 연구 - 일본 스켈레톤 임대형 SI주택 사례를 중심으로 -)

  • In recent years, there has been a demand for a residential supply model that can actively and flexibly cope with various housing demands in the changing paradigm of public rental housing. This study focuses on the two-step supply system that has been studied in Japan. It was used to examine and analyze cases to recommend a supply plan that can be used for domestic public rental housing. In more detail, the literature review of the two-step supply system discloses that four types by supply methods (A-1, A-2, B-2, and C-2) and four types of relationship (construction and management combine entities type, management entity type, construction entity type, a separated entity type) can be categorized. In addition, from the actual case study, it revealed that the way of linking and supplying activities among the entity can have a great influence on "ease of supply (supply)", "diversity of housing demand (diversity)," and "quality of construction (construction)". "Ease of supply (supply)" refers to whether the construction entity is separated, and the owner is a manager. "Diversity" refers to whether the management subject is separated, and if the owner is also the constructor or the manager. "Construction" is whether the management entity is connected and managed by the management entity and can be evaluated in "Good", "Middle", and "Bad" level. As a summary, even if the existing public rental housing in Korea can be separated into a skeleton and infill system, the result suggested that it has a limitation on response to residential demand. In addition, the paper was able to propose an improved plan to make the infill as a secondary operator.

A Case Study on Risk Analysis of Large Construction Projects (건설공사를 위한 위험분석기법 사례연구)

  • This research proposes a new risk analysis method in order to guarantee successful performance of construction projects. The proposed risk analysis methods consists of four phases. First step, AHP model can help contractors decide whether or not they bid for a project by analysing risks involved in the project. Second step, the influence diagraming, decision tree and Monte Carlo simulation are used as tools to analyze and evaluate project risks quantitatively. Third step, Monte Carlo simulation is used to assess risk for groups of activities with probabilistic branching and calendars. Finally, Fuzzy theory suggests a risk management method for construction projects, which is using subjective knowledge of an expert and linguistic value, to analyze and quantify risk. The result of study is expected to improve the accuracy of risk analysis because three factors, such as probability, impact and exposure, for estimating membership function are introduced to quantify each risk factor. Consequently, it will help contractors identify risk elements in their projects and quantify the impact of risk on project time and cost.

In this study, small construction companies to the lien of the lien claim on the issue of case studies have looked for the study. Small construction companies, in your case through the litigation between the lien of the lien litigation perspective, the cause of four orders after the analysis step by step construction was listed in chronological order. Identifying problem was the result of a lien. This study to previous studies regarding the lien on the issue through case studies of one kind of lien was derived for the problem. A follow-up studies and more case studies and interviews are considered necessary in the study.

  • Although the safety management plan review system according to the Construction Technology Promotion Act for securing the safety of the construction work is a fundamental system essential for the prevention of the construction industry disaster, the necessity of its improvement has been raised because it often fails to meet the original purpose. In this study, through the analysis of the effect of the safety management plan and the problems of the operation, we suggest ways to improve it in view of the construction accident reduction and conducted surveys on the construction site through the questionnaires of the client, construction company, and construction business technology manager. In order to improve the effectiveness of this system as a result of the study, it is necessary to distribute the guidelines for the preparation of the safety management plan, manuals, etc., to simplify the contents of the safety management plan, also the step-by-step approval of the safety plan can be a solution. For this, it is necessary to revise the policy through consultation with the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs and related experts.
