난지도 하수슬러지 매립지의 슬러지 성상분석 (The Characteristics of Sludge Landfill Site in Nanjido)

  • 난지도 하수슬러지 매립지 내 슬러지의 적정 처리방안을 검토하기 위한 기초조사로서 슬러지의 매립량 및 성상을 조사하였다. 보링시험을 통하여 매립지의 깊이를 측정하였고 슬러지성상분석을 위한 시료를 채취하였다. 주요 분석내용은 슬러지의 화학적 특성, 중금속함량 그리고 용출시험이었다. 조사결과 슬러지 매립지는 평균 15m 깊이에 약 5만 평방미터 넓이로 총 매립량은 60만톤 정도로 추정되었다. 슬러지의 성상을 분석한 결과 일반적인 하수슬러지에 비하여 상당히 안정화된 슬러지임을 알 수 있었다. 또한 중금속 함량 시험에서 구리를 제외한 모든 항목에서 미국 캘리포니아주의 일반폐기물기준을 만족하였으며, 외국의 퇴비내 중금속허용기준치와 비교한 결과 대부분 기준치 이내이었다. 슬러지의 용출시험결과 난지도 하수슬러지매립장의 슬러지는 일반폐기물로 분류되었다.

  • Growth of any country rest in the consumption of industrial wastes for its infrastructure amenities. Countries like India positively desires a vital utilization of industrial waste resembling paper sludge in the construction industry to make various building materials. Also, it is the duty of all civil engineers or researchers to attach them in mounting new materials from the waste dumped as land fillings. In every construction project, about 70% of cost accounts for the procurement of materials. If this, can be minimized consequently the cost of construction will certainly be condensed. Research has established that the waste paper sludge can be reused in the construction field for a probable scope. The construction diligences munch through a massive quantity of non-renewable resources. On the additional dispense, more waste paper board sludge ends up in landfills or dumpsites than those recycled. Consequently, waste paper sludge for use as a construction material composes a step towards sustainable development. Keeping this in mind an endeavor has been made to utilize paper board sludge acquired from the paper board industry and used with several pozzolanic and cementitious materials for a specific purpose. The addition of paper sludge has been varied from 0% to 20% by weight of cement. The tests done with the samples expose that four samples showed significant outcomes with remarkable strength and durability properties which guide to move for the next phase of research for producing lightweight tiles.

THE MONITORING OF AEROBIC FLOC-LIKE SLUDGE INFLUENCED BY CALCIUM IONS

  • Aerobic floc-like sludge was formed in a batch reactor and the effect of cations on the formation of aerobic floc-like sludge was studied. In order to enhance the formation (rate) of aerobic floc-like sludge, cations such as $K^+$, $Na^+$, $Ca^{2+}$, and $Mg^{2+}$ were added to the seed sludge. It was found that $Ca^{2+}$ had positive effect on the formation of floc-like sludge, as measured by sludge volume index (SVI) for settle ability. The formation of floc-like sludge was confirmed by the microscopic observation after DAPI staining. The scattered forms of sludge samples at the initial stage became aggregated to form floes after $Ca^{2+}$ addition. To ensure the functions of sludge floes in a treatment plant, the gradient of ionic species around the surfaces of floc-like sludge was monitored by ion selective microelectrodes for ${NH_4}^+,\;{NO_3}^-$, and pH. The effective concentration of $Ca^{2+}$ ion to form floc-like sludge was determined to be 750 mg/L (0.15 mg $Ca^{2+}/mg$ MLSS). Under the effective $Ca^{2+}$ condition, the SVI value was the lowest and large distribution of nitrifying bacteria at the outer surface was observed in the aerobic floc-like sludge. From the results, it was found that the calcium ion functioned as an agent for the formation of aerobic floc-like sludge, resulting in the enhanced nitrification.

도시 하수 및 공장 폐수 슬러지의 바이오가스화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Biogasification of Municipal and Industrial Wastewater Sludge)

  • 슬러지의 안정화, 휘발성 고형물 감소, 바이오가스 생산을 위해 혐기성 소화공정이 슬러지의 처리 방안으로 연구됐다. 본 연구에서는 하 폐수 슬러지(MWS, IWS), 혼합슬러지(Mix), 탈수슬러지(MWSC)를 대상으로 바이오가스 생산 가능성을 살펴보기 위해 Total solids, Volatile solids, 원소분석, BMP 실험을 하였다. Total solids 함량은 11.2~20.6 %의 값을 가지며 Volatile solids의 함량은 TS의 62.1~83.1 %의 값을 가지고 있다. C/N비는 4.96~8.33의 값을 나타났다. BMP test를 한 결과 혼합슬러지의 경우 약 20일, 하 폐수 슬러지의 경우 약 16~17일에 메탄발생이 종료되었다. 탈수케이크는 약 10일까지 메탄이 발생하였으며 가장 빨리 메탄발생이 종료되었다. 누적 메탄발생량의 경우 혼합슬러지가 395.50 mL $CH_4/g$ VS으로 가장 높은 누적 메탄 발생량을 가진다. 누적 이산화탄소 발생량은 탈수케이크를 제외하고 비슷한 값을 보이고 있다.

  • Increased quantities of sewage sludge coupled with stringent regulations make it important to develope alternatives for residuals management. The use of PARAFIX as a solidifying agent for sewage sludge was investigated by several tests. Basic physicochemical characteristics, strength, permeability, and leaching characteristics were examined. PARAFIX was found to be very effective in reducing permeability, increasing strength, and immobilizing heavy metals. Based on the tests, it Is ascertained that PARAFIX enhances the solidification of sewage sludge. Also sewage sludge solidified with PARAFIX may be used effectively for construction materials.

  • The stone sludge produced during the manufacturing process of stone blocks is considered as one of industrial waste materials. This stone sludge are managed to either burying under the ground or stacking in the yard, but this disposal process is required an extra costs. The stone sludge disposal like burying or stacking also cause environmental pollutions such as ground pollution and subterranean water pollution. Thus, this study was conducted to explore the possibility of recycling of stone dust sludge as a concrete mixing material in order to extend recycling methods and to solve the shortage of aggregate caused by recently increased demand in construction. Based on the experiment results on various ratios of cement to stone sludge content, the compressive strengths of concrete were recorded in the range of $20{\sim}30N/mm2$. The results did not show any decrease in compressive strength due to the stone dust content. It can be concluded that the stone sludge produced by stone block manufacturing can be sufficiently recycled as one of concrete mixing materials in the aspect of compressive strength.

  • 본 연구에서는 건설오니를 이용하여 부가가치가 높은 건설자재로써의 활용을 위한 특성분석 및 고화제의 첨가 재료로 활용하기 위한 슬러지의 재료적 특성 분석에 대해 기술하였다. 본 연구에 사용된 시료는 4개사의 현장에서 다량 발생되는 오니로서 현장에서 발생한 여과 케이크 4종과 여과 전의 슬러리 3종을 사용하였다. 슬러지의 pH, 입도분석, 주사전자현미경 관찰을 수행하였으며, 화학성분은 X선 형광분석기로, 광물상은 X선 회절분석기로 각각 분석 및 동정하였으며 슬러지의 열적 특성 및 가열 중의 휘발 성분의 양은 시차열/중량분석을 실시하여 고찰하였다.

  • The discharge of sewage sludge ash that is rapidly increasing in Korea. The utilization of sewage sludge ash would contribute to the elimination of an environmental problem and to the development of new high-performance materials. So the paper is focused on an experimental study in order to investigate the utilization of sewage sludge ash as the construction materials. It achieves leaching test, chemical composition and compressive strength test. As a result of tests, the sewage sludge ash has sufficient potential for use of pozzolanic raw material. However. it is judged to be available to construction material if research is continuously gone.

  • This research reviewed the characteristics of waste concrete sludge occurred from recycled aggregate producing process and the physical and mechanical properties of the mortar incorporated the pulverized the waste concrete sludge. From the results of the experiment, as the replacement ratio of waste concrete sludge powder was increased, the dosage of superplasticizer to satisfy the target flow of 200 ± 10 was increased, and the compressive and flexural strengths were decreased. On the other hand, when the sludge powder replacement ratio was 25 %, outstanding performance of general characteristics of mortar was obtained while it was lower than Plain mixture, thus, further detail study on various replacement ratios of waste concrete sludge powder is needed.
