According to 'The Analysis of Industrial Accidents in 2016' by Ministry of Employment and Labor, the number of deaths caused by accidents in the construction field is 391, accounting for 47% of 826 industrial fatalities in all industries. The breakdown of the 391 fatalities of the construction industry shows that 'struck by an object' accident had 30 fatalities, the 3rd in frequency following falling (235) and crashing (32) accidents. This study aims to explore ways to reduce the 'struck by an object' accident with emphasis on safety education and certificate system for rigging and slinging works. This study reviews literature on rigging and slinging works and analyzes 'struck by an object' accidents. The rules and regulation on the rigging and slinging works are also reviewed both for Korea and other countries with best practices in construction safety such as Singapore, Japan, U.K., and U.S. The rigging and slinging certificate systems of those countries are also reviewed to find any advantage in the construction safety management. In addition, a pilot rigging and slinging certificate system was executed in one of domestic construction site followed by two surveys: one on the riggers who participated in the pilot operation and the other on general managers in domestic construction sites. Based on the analysis of the 'struck by an object' accidents and pilot operation, this study proposes a rigging and slinging certificate system to reduce accidents, enhancing safety condition of construction sites. The certificate system was proposed in a way to accommodate working practice of construction sites. Depending on rigging careers and a crane load capacity, riggers are eligible to apply either basic or master certificate which makes difference in the level of rigging works. The safety condition of rigging and slinging work could be substantially enhanced if workers, managers, supervisors, administrators, and policy makers work together consistently.

A construction temporary work is main process and importance trade section. A technology system of construction temporary has very low availability of field works and needs improvements in Korea as construction site has a quick response about new requirements. This study reviews literature researches and can verify that changes to a comprehensive technology system for construction site. In addition, it suggests a breakdown structure of new standards for temporary construction technology based on views of construction site managers. Meanwhile, temporary construction technology in Korea has changed with a specification of construction temporary work which had been revised in 2014. However, the revision is merely dividing the design and building off of construction temporary technology. It is lacking in many ways to change this in a new standard system for temporary construction technology. Henceforth, it needs to develop a standard system for temporary construction technology and a professional system that is appropriate for different purposes by detail trade sections.

Project manager plays a very important role in the success of any project. The primary duty of the project manager is to combine the outcomes or results of the various processes and activities of project management into a systematic project management strategy or plan for the project. In the construction industry, a lack of motivation is an urgent problem for many project managers in construction and engineering projects. Lack of motivation affects the quality and productivity of jobs, reducing profits and growth for companies, businesses, contractors or organizations that rely on human resources. The reasons for this lack of motivation are diverse ranging from salary to culture to life and working environment, among others. Through surveys and data analysis using Cronbach's Alpha reliability and EFA (Exploratory Factor Analysis), our research scaled the factors affecting work motivation of project managers in the construction industry in Vietnam. The research results identified six major groups of relevant factors including (i) salary and benefits, (ii) work environment, (iii) promotion opportunities, (iv) organizational culture, (v) interest in the job, and (vi) relationship with the organization. From there, this paper contributed useful information as well as measures for businesses, companies, contractors or organizations in the construction industry.

건축공사 현장 조직의 협업 능력이 현장 조직 관리에 매우 중요한 요소이다. 현장 조직의 협업은 조직 커뮤니케이션과 관련이 있어 커뮤니케이션을 향상시키면 조직의 능력을 향상시킬 수 있다. 그러나 건축공사 현장 조직 커뮤니케이션과 관련된 연구는 미흡하다. 따라서 본 연구는 건축공사 현장 조직 커뮤니케이션에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하기 위해 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구 결과 현장소장 리더십이 개인적 배려와 이상적 영향 특성을 가지고 있을 때, 현장 조직문화가 합의문화 특성을 가지고 있을 때 커뮤니케이션이 더 잘 이루어졌다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구결과는 건축공사 현장 조직 커뮤니케이션을 향상시켜 조직을 체계적으로 관리하는데 기여할 수 있다.

건설현장에서의 안전사고는 근로자의 생명을 앗아가는 중대한 사고로 이어질 수 있고, 정부차원에서 산업재해 감소를 위해 많은 노력을 기울이고 있는 만큼 건설현장에서 재해발생과 밀접한 관련이 있는 안전관리자의 역할이 중요해지고 있다. 하지만 현행 건설업 안전관리에 있어 안전관리자가 담당하는 업무량이 과도하게 많고, 효율적이지 못한 업무들로 인해 직무 스트레스가 많이 발생하고 있다. 따라서 업무내용의 개선 및 간소화가 필요한 실정이다. 본 연구의 주된 목적은 안전관리자 안전관리 단계의 업무들을 난이도와 예방효과에 대해 전문가 의견과 설문조사를 통해 2×2 Matrix 분석 기법을 활용해 비효율적인 업무의 간략화 및 개선이 필요한 업무들을 파악하고 개선방향을 제시함으로써, 궁극적으로 건설현장의 안전사고 발생을 줄이는 데 기여하고자 한다.

This study was conducted to suggest a direction in which safety managers can concentrate on industrial accident prevention and safety management for the organization. The job resources of safety managers were divided into organizational and individual levels, and the magnitude of the impact on organizational commitment was compared. Furthermore, job demands were classified into environmental risk factors and personal psychological factors to confirm their effect on organizational commitment. The moderating effect of job resources and sub-factors of the variable in the relationship between job demands and organizational commitment was verified. In this study, a questionnaire survey was conducted on 193 safety managers in the domestic electric construction business, data were collected, and a questionnaire of 180 people was used for the final analysis. Based on the results, organization-level resources among the sub-factors of job resources and individual psychological factors among the sub-factors of job demand had a more significant influence on organizational commitment. In the relationship between job resources and organizational commitment, the moderating effect of job demand was verified, confirming that job demand had a negative moderating effect. Individual psychological factors had a modulating effect, whereas environmental factors did not. The significance, implications, and limitations of this study are discussed based on the research results.

Concurrent construction offers considerable improvement for shorten the project duration of its production process. Therefore, standardized concurrent construction is widely applied in building construction projects. However, resources planning for standardized concurrent construction project is manually developed by construction manager. This practice is not effective since it is time-consuming and error-prone for managers to identify all project-specific information, distinguish different activity-resource types, interpret these types and analyze how they affect resource allocated on an ad hoc basis. Therefore, this research investigates the opportunity for leveraging activity modeling to enable automated resource planning for standardized concurrent construction during project development, with identifying the characteristics of construction activities under standardized concurrent planning and determining the activity-resources types that affects resource planning. Both will function as a basis for modeling these construction activities in a computer-interpretable manner and for automation in resource planning.

이 연구는 공사현장 근로자의 임시소방시설에 대한 집단 간의 사전 지식을 비교 문제점을 도출하고 그에 맞는 개선방안을 강구하여 화재사고를 미연에 예방하는데 연구의 목적이 있다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 소화기의 경우 시공사, 감리원, 협력사 근로자와 소화기 관리책임자를 지정 간 통계적으로 유의하였다. 시공사 공종별로 소화기 관리책임자를 지정이 필요하다고 응답한 소방관리자 87%, 설비감독자 70%로 차이가 있음을 알 수 있었고, 이는 근로자들이 임의로 화기 작업장으로 이동하여 배치하고 작업 후 그냥 방치하는 사례가 많기 때문에 소화기 관리책임자를 지정하고 수시로 점검하고 재배치하는 관리지정이 필요하다. 둘째, 간이소화장치의 경우 시공사, 감리원, 협력사 근로자와 간이소화장치 무단사용 시 벌칙적용 간 통계적으로 유의하였다. 셋째, 비상경보장치의 경우 시공사, 감리원, 협력사 근로자와 임시방송설비로 비상경보음 발생 적용 간 통계적으로 유의하였다. 넷째, 유도등의 경우 시공사, 감리원, 협력사 근로자와 통로유도등 및 비상조명등 연계 적용 간에는 통계적으로 유의하였다. 협력사 공종별로 피난구 유도등과 통로유도등 및 비상조명등 연계 적용은 건축근로자 65%, 전기근로자 55%가 통로유도등 및 비상조명등 연계 적용 차이가 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이는 건축물 구조상 피난구 유도등의 사각지대를 해소하기 위해서 통로유도등 및 비상조명등과 연계 적용하여 출입문의 방향을 먼 거리에서도 쉽게 구별하여 작업자가 인지하여 안전하게 대피하는 장치가 필요하다.

Current trends in the Korean construction industry, including the aging of the workforce, a lack of new Korean construction workers, and an inflow of unskilled foreign labor, have caused a range of problems, including quality deterioration, reduced productivity, insufficient understanding of the function and difficulties in communication, to name a few. Yet while countermeasures to these problems should be based on accurate and diverse fundamental data, including the current status of demand and supply of domestic and foreign construction workers, the perception of construction workers, studies on these questions have, thus far, been scarce. For these reasons, this study was conducted using a questionnaire for managers and workers on construction sites, to secure fundamental data relating to construction workers. The findings of the survey showed that it is urgent to prepare measures to educate, train and foster human resources, considering the aging of the construction workforce and the lack of an inflow of new construction workers.

When managers estimate exact construction cost at early stage and design phase, they can reduce construction cost in a more efficient way than to predict at construction stage. But, the current of public construction cost estimation and management is concentrated almost after detailed design phase. Therefore, construction cost management in design development phase to generally use approximate estimating is not correct. Also, the existing construction cost used the method that estimated by gross floor area-based cost estimates at design development phase. So, it is difficult to show the specific amount of materials and basis about the estimated cost of the construction. This study derived problems and limits of construction management at design development phase in case of public office building project through review of literature and current survey, and suggested estimating process model process of structural construction cost go improve these matters.
