Peste des petits ruminants (PPR) is considered to be one of the main constraints to enhancing the productivity of goats and sheep in regions where it is present and becoming endemic. PPR was recognized in Pakistan in early 1990s but got importance during the Participatory Disease Surveillance (PDS) of Rinderpest Eradication Campaign. Lot of research work has been initiated during last decade towards disease epidemiology, risk factor recognition, laboratory diagnosis, vaccination and demonstration of control strategies. Although there are ongoing projects working towards the progressive control of the disease in country yet there is need to have a national level control program for PPR. Also there is need to have comprehensive social economic surveys, disease hot spot recognition and identification of role of other species in disease transmission. With combined efforts of local and national authorities and political will, there is high likelihood that this devastating disease can be controlled and eventually eradicated in near future.
This paper proposes an application of artificial neural networks to the bus-bar separation in a substation for radial network operation. For the effective bus-bar operation, the insecurity index of transmission line load is introduced. For the radial network operation. the constraints of bus-bar switch is formulated in the performance function with the insecurity index. The determination of bus-bar switching is to find the states of 0 or 1 in the circuit breakers. In this paper, it is tested that the bus-bar separation of binary optimization problem can be solved by Hopfield networks with adequate manipulations.
We present a numerical analysis of the optimal group number for minimizing the average paging delay. In the analysis, we consider uniform distributions for location probability conditions and apply M/D/1 queueing model to paging message queues of cells. We also get the lower bounds of group numbers and investigate the minimum transmission capacity under average paging delay constraints. Minimizing the average paging delay is important because it means minimizing the amount of bandwidth used for locating mobile terminals. Therefore, the numerical results of this paper will be very useful in PCS system when designing its signalling capacity due to its simplicity and effectiveness.
Energy harvesting devices have been proposed for sensor networking applications where batteries cannot be replaced, and cooperative communication schemes have been used to increase energy efficiency for wireless systems. Here, we develop transmission scheduling schemes for multi-terminal cooperative energy harvesting networks that maximize the packet delivery ratio, i.e., the probability that an event is reported successfully. We see that the proposed scheme provides virtually the same performance as the state-of-the-art threshold-based scheme, but does not require auxiliary parameter optimization. The proposed scheme also permits extensions to multiple cooperating nodes and sources, and it can be modified to accommodate fairness constraints.

This paper describes the design and implementation of a SNMP Agent for NG-SDH transmission system. One of the most important items in SDH network management is the information model that implements every function of SDH equipment at network level. Although the TMN framework of SDH information model has been defined quite well, CMIP constraints of a real implementation urge vendors to implement proprietary features, and make it more difficult to maintain an integrated view of multivendor SDH networks management. To solve these aspects, this work proposes SNMP information model that allows a simple view of NG-SDH network management.

Virtual wavelength path (VWP) is the optical path when a wavelength conversion is possible in a wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) network that is transmission infrastructure for the next generation high speed backbone networks. To achieve efficient design for VWP networks, we must consider VWP routing, wavelength assignment, and wavelength conversion while satisfying many technical constraints of the WDM networks. In this study we propose an integrated model for efficient VWP design in WDM networks. We also develope a 3-phase algorithm, each of which deals with routing, wavelength assignment and route and wavelength reassignment, respectively. In our computational experiments, phase 1 algorithm can solve the problem to the optimality for medium size test networks. Phase 2 algorithm is an efficient heuristic based on a reduced layered network and can give us an effective wavelength assignment. Finally, phase 3 algorithm reconfigure VWP routing and its wavelength assignment to concentrate wavelength conversion nodes in the suggested VWP network.
This paper deals with an application of optimization technique for available transfer capability(ATC) calculation. ATC is an important indicator of the usable amount of transmission capacity accessible by several parties for commercial trading. Sequential quadratic programming(SQP) is used to calculate the ATC problem with state-steady security constraints. The proposed method is applied to 10 machines 39 buses model systems. The results are discussed and compared to those obtained by continuation power flow(CPF).
This paper introduces a variable of methodology and models of solving Security-Constrained Price-Based Unit Commitment(SPUC) Problems in the Deregulated Power Market. The objective of SPUC is coordination between GENCOs and the ISO. GENCOs apply Price-Based Unit Commitment(PBUC) without security constraints and submit capacity bids to the ISO for maximizing their revenues. Using generation data and transmission data obtained from TRANSCOs, the ISO applies Security-Constrained Unit Commitment(SCUC), executes congestion management and contingency analysis for minimizing line flow violations and the risk supplying loads. Considering analysis data, the ISO should adjust GENCOS' bid. In this paper, we presents the result of survey and analyze on the approach of the SPUC problem.
Spacecraft mission planning functions including event prediction, mission scheduling, command planning, and ground track display have been developed for the KOMPSAT-2 mission operations. Integrated event prediction functions including satellite orbital events, user requested imaging events, and satellite operational events have been implemented. Mission scheduling functions have been realized to detect the mission conflicts considering the user specified constraints and resources, A conflict free mission scheduling result is mapped into the spacecraft command sequences in the command planning functions. The command sequences are directly linked to the spacecraft operations using eXtensible Markup Language(XML) for command transmission. Ground track display shows the satellite ground trace and mission activities on a digitized world map with zoom capability.

This paper presents a transfer capability enhancement process using VSC HVDC system which can control active power as well as reactive power. The transfer capability is constrained by stability like voltage stability as well as thermal rating of power system components. Transfer capability of the power system limited by these constraints may be enhanced by reactive power control ability and active power flow control ability of the VSC HVDC system. To enhance the transfer capability of the system using VSC HVDC, selection of the HVDC installation site is performed. In this work, power zones which consist of major power plants and their sinks are identified using power tracing and distribution factor. Alternative route of major AC transmission line in the power zone is identified as VSC HVDC system.
