  • Intrusion detection is very important for network situation awareness. While a few methods have been proposed to detect network intrusion, they cannot directly and effectively utilize semi-quantitative information consisting of expert knowledge and quantitative data. Hence, this paper proposes a new detection model based on a directed acyclic graph (DAG) and a belief rule base (BRB). In the proposed model, called DAG-BRB, the DAG is employed to construct a multi-layered BRB model that can avoid explosion of combinations of rule number because of a large number of types of intrusion. To obtain the optimal parameters of the DAG-BRB model, an improved constraint covariance matrix adaption evolution strategy (CMA-ES) is developed that can effectively solve the constraint problem in the BRB. A case study was used to test the efficiency of the proposed DAG-BRB. The results showed that compared with other detection models, the DAG-BRB model has a higher detection rate and can be used in real networks.

  • Recently, much attention has been paid to problems which is concerned with voltage instability phenomena and much works on these phenomena have been made. In this paper, by substituting d $P_{k}$ d $e_{k}$ ( $v^{\rarw}$= e +j f) for $P_{k}$ in conventional load flow, direct method for finging the limit of voltage stability is proposed. Here, by using the fact that taylor se- ries expansion in .DELTA. $P_{k}$ and .DELTA. $Q_{k}$ is terminated at the second-order terms, constraint equation (d $P_{k}$ d $e_{k}$ =0) and power flow equations are formulated with new variables .DSLTA. e and .DELTA.f, so partial differentiations for constraint equation are precisely calculated. The fact that iteratively calculated equations are reformulated with new variables .DELTA.e and .DELTA.f means that limit of voltage stability can be traced precisely through recalculation of jacobian matrix at e+.DELTA.e and f+.DELTA.f state. Then, during iterative process divergence may be avoid. Also, as elements of Hessian mat rix are constant, its computations are required only once during iterative process. Results of application of the proposed method to sample systems are presented. (author). 13 refs., 11 figs., 4 tab.

  • In this paper, the gain-scheduled control design proposed in the previous paper has been applied to a target tracking system. In such system, it is needed to attenuate disturbance effectively as long as control input satisfies the given constraint on its magnitude. The scheduled gains are derived in the framework of linear matrix inequality(LMI) optimization by means of the MatLab toolbox. Its effectiveness is verified along with the simulation results compared with the conventional optimum constant gain and the scheduled gain control with constant Q matrix cases.

  • Engineering design involves the specification of many variables that define a product, how it is made, and how it behaves. Before some variables can be determined, other variables must first be known or assumed. This fact implies a precedence order of the variables, and of the tasks of determining these variable consequently. Moreover, design of complex systems may involve a large number of design activities. In this paper, the activity-activity incidence matrix is considered as a representation of design activity analysis which mainly focuses on the precedence constraint. In order to analyze the activity-activity incidence matrix, a heuristic algorithm is proposed, which transforms an activity-activity, parameter-formula, and parameter-parameter incidence matrix into a lower triangular form. The analysis of the structured matrices can not only significantly reduce the overall project complexity by reorganizing few critical tasks in practice, but also aims at obtaining shorter times considering the solution structure by exploring concurrency.

  • The purpose of this thesis is to develop methods of designing robust LQR/LQG controllers for time-varying systems with real parametric uncertainties. Controller design that meet desired performance and robust specifications is one of the most important unsolved problems in control engineering. We propose a new framework to solve these problems using Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMls) which have gained much attention in recent years, for their computational tractability and usefulness in control engineering. In Robust LQR case, the formulation of LMI based problem is straightforward and we can say that the obtained solution is the global optimum because the transformed problem is convex. In Robust LQG case, the formulation is difficult because the objective function and constraint are all nonlinear, therefore these are not treatable directly by LMI. We propose a sequential solving method which consist of a block-diagonal approach and a full-block approach. Block-diagonal approach gives a conservative solution and it is used as a initial guess for a full-block approach. In full-block approach two LMIs are solved sequentially in iterative manner. Because this algorithm must be solved iteratively, the obtained solution may not be globally optimal.

  • This paper introduces M-ary multitrack run-length (d.k) constrained codes for optical storage systems. We calculate capacities and densities of the codes. We have driven a general form of the state transition matrix for M-ary multitrack (d,k) codes. Using the largest eigenvalue of the transition matrix, we calculate the capacity and density. The capacity approaches to the limit with a small k constraint compared to single-track codes.

  • This paper gives a simple parameterization of all stable unbiased filters to solve the suboptimal mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ filtering problem. Using the central filter, mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ filter is designed which minimizes the upper bound for the $H_2$ norm of the transfer matrix from a white noise to the estimation error subject to an $H_{\infty}$ norm constraint on the transfer matrix from an energy-bounded noise to the estimation error. The problem of finding suitable estimator gain can be converted into a convex optimization problem involving linear matrix inequalities.

  • The previously developed control design methodology, EALQR(Eigenstructure Assignment/LQR), has better performance than that of conventional LQR or eigen-structure assignment. But it has a constraint for the weigting matrix in LQR, that is the weighting matrix could be indefinite for high-order systems. In this paper, the effects of the indefinite weighting matrix in EALQR on the Sequency domain properties are analyzed. The robustness criterion and quantitative frequency domain properties are also presented. Finally, the frequency do-main properties of EALQR has been analyzed by applying to a flight control system design example.

  • This paper presents a geometrical approach to the characteristic analysis of parallel mechanism with free joints intended for use as a planar task robot. Solution of the forward and inverse kinematic problems are described. Because the mechanism has only three degree-of-freedom output, constraint equations must be generated to describe the inter-relationship between actuated joints and free joints so as to describe the position and orientation of the moving platform. Once these constraints are incorporated into the kinematics model, a constrained Jacobian matrix is obtained. and it is used for the solution of the forward kinematic equations by Newton-Raphson technique. Another Jacobian matrix was derived to describe the interrelationship between actuated joints and moving platform. The stiffness, velocity transmission ratio, force transmission ratio and dexterity of the mechanism are then determined based on this another Jacobian matrix. The geometrical construction of the mechanism for the best performance was investigated using the characteristic analysis.
