Other complications were not detected in 311 patients with Hemiated Lumbar Intervertebral Disc. In case that the scoliosis appeared to caused by severe pain, we included this scoliosis patient with the object of survey. Results : 1. In 6 patients who were not improved, 4 patients were large herniation and 2 patients were medium herniation. 2. In all of 6 patients, the angle of straight leg raising test was low and was not imporved unril discharge. 3. X-ray findings showed straightening in all of 6 patients, disc space narrowing in 3 of 6 patients. 4. X-ray findings showed scoliosis in 3 of 4 patients who were severe pain. 5. The onset was relarively long from 30 days to 7 years. 6. The age was relatively young from 10's to 30's. 7. The adimission date was ralatively long from 32 days to 105 days. • Objective : To evaluate the effect of Oriental Medical Treatment on a patient with Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy followed by Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Method : We applied various methodology of Oriental Medical Treatment including Acupuncture, Electroacupuncture, Physical treatment, Herbal Medicine, Moxibustion treatment and Western medication as well. Result: Herbal medicine was applied on the basis of the patient's history. We applied formular to remove phelgm as a pathogenic factor after Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy. At the same time, considering the patient spent more than a month in ICU lacking appropriate nutrition, we used formuli on the basis of 'Deficiency of Spleen' focusing to vitalize the function of digestive system. As the condition of the patient changed, we also adapted formular accordingly. We prescribed Herbal medication to strengthen Yin and Yang equally as she got hospitalized for long time. Also we applied Acupuncture treatment and Moxibustion treatment to control Qi flow. The general condition of the patient got better with successful removal of Foley catheter and elevated Glasgow Coma scale. We used Electroacupuncture, Physical treatment and Western medication at the same to get maximized effect on relaxing the contracted muscle. According to the Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS), we have some changes in muscle spasticity but later, the effect was not that significant. Conclusion : We had a patient with Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy followed by Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. In the management of Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy, Conservative treatments are the mainstream but there are not many alternatives. Therefore, We suggest that Oriental medical approach may contribute to the management of Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy.

  • Objectives : To investigate the clinical results of patients who were diagnosed with grade II spondylolithesis treated with Korean medicine of relaxative Chuna and Gangchuk herbal medicine. Methods : We reviewed medical records of four patients diagnosed with grade II spondylolisthesis. Each patient has taken intensive Korean medical admission treatment at Mokhuri Hospital. All patients received treatments of Gangchuk herbal medicine, relaxative Chuna and acupuncture during admission period. Before treatment and every after 7-day treatment the patient's pain and walking distance without pain were assessed. The zero minimum to ten maximum pain numeric rating scale(NRS) was used to determine the degree of pain. Results : Average admission duration was 23 days. All the patients' NRS decreased from median figure of 7.5[the minimum 7 to the highest 8] to median figure of 1[the minimum 0 to the highest 2]. Walking distance without pain increased from a median of 55 m[the minimum 20 m to the highest 100 m] to median of 165 m[the minimum 100 m to the highest 250 m]. Conclusions : Intensive conservative korean medical treatment was effective in reducing pain and functional improvement for grade II lumbar spondylosisthesis patients.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to investigate the results of korean traditional conservative therapy for thoraco-lumbar compression fracture and it's recovery rate and different result in accordance with sex, age, medical history. Method : We studied about 35 cases who were admitted to Jaseng Hospital of Oriental Medicine with diagnosis of 'Thoraco lumbar compression fracture' with X-ray examination. Result : Out of 35 patients 31 patients discharged with satisfying results. Most of the compression fracture occurred in age of $60{\sim}70$. And the single fractured patients recovered more easily than the multi-level fractured patients. It didn't affect the results whether the patient had another vertebral disease(such as Herniated intervertebral disc or osteoporosis) or not. And most of the patients who had vertebral compression fracture visited the western medicine hospital first. Conclusions : We analyzed the tendency of the patients who had vertebral compression fracture, and concluded that the conservative Korean traditional therapy is an effective means of treatment for the patients who have thoraco-lumbar compression fracture.

In vulvodynia, the first method of treatment is conservative treatment. surgery is carried out on patients who have failed consevative therapy. In conservative therapy, the rate of improvements is low, 30-40%Surgical procedures are effective in almost patients, but the efficacy is not known in patients with the riskiness. This study is designed to find best way of evaluation about the vulvodynia.

  • Objective : To evaluate the effect of Oriental medical treatment on a patient with Ramsay Hunt syndrome with poor prognosis on EMG. Methods : We applied various methods of Oriental Medical treatment including Acupuncture, Electroacupuncture, Herb medicine, Vesiculation therapy using Mylabris and Crontonis Fructus, Massage, Self-excercise of face muscles. Results : 1. Herb medicine was applied on the basis of Differentiation of Syndromes(辨證): We tried Herb medicine to improve the function of Digestive System. The patient's stool condition, subjective sensation related with abdominal pain and general condition improved. 2. We used the Vesiculation therapy using Mylabris which was used traditionally to treat Facial Palsy. We powdered Mylabris and mixed it with Crontonis Fructus to make a paste. We put it on Ye-poong(?風), Nae-gwan(內關) at left side. It induced vesicles at the applied area, but it disappeared in 48 hours without any scar. 3. We applied acupuncture, electroacupunture, massage and self-excercise of face muscles. On gross scale assessment, there was some improvement. And assessment with regional scale also showed changes. The patient and the guardian were satisfied with the result. Conclusion : We experienced a case of Ramsay Hunt syndrome with poor prognosis on EMG. She also showed poor response to conservative treatment. Through various modalities of Oriental medical treatment, we attained some clinical improvement.

  • Background: Occipital neuralgia (ON) is an established risk factor for headaches in the posterior cervical region. Several conservative treatments by nerve decompression and pain relief are available for ON, but these treatments have limitations. Acupuncture treatment, which is known to demonstrate analgesic effects, involves various stimulation methods, and several studies have reported their clinical benefit. No recent systematic review (SR) has compared each acupuncture type for ON treatment. Thus, this SR aims to investigate the clinical effectiveness of each acupuncture type for treating ON. Methods: We will identify relevant studies using electronic databases, including EMBASE, MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Korean Studies Information Service System (KISS), Korean Medical Database, KoreaMed, and National Digital Science Library (NDSL) from the inception until August 2023. The primary outcome will include the numerical change of pain symptoms (visual analog scale and numerical rating scale) and effective rate. Safety and secondary outcomes will include adverse events and quality of life. We will compare the conservative treatment with the acupuncture treatment using network meta-analysis. The Cochrane Collaboration "risk of bias" tools will be used to assess the quality of included trials. The Grades of Recommendation, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation will be used to examine the evidence level. Conclusion: This study will provide clinical evidence of several acupuncture types for ON and help clinicians decide on the best.
