  • Increasing of the use nonlinear power electronics equipments, power conditioning systems have been researched and developed for many years to compensate the harmonic disturbances and the reactive power. The main function of power conditioning systems is to reduce harmonic distortions, since extensive surveys quantify the problems associated with electric networks having non-linear loads. The main function of power conditioner compensates the current instead of the voltage. Therefore the inverter used in power conditioner is mostley current controlled type. In this paper, the proposed current control algorithm is analized and discussed about how to design the controller which can apply power conditioning operation for grid-connective PV power system. And also proposed control system. To verify the proposed current control algorithm, a comprehensive evaluation with theoretical analysis, simulation results is presented.

  • Exaggerated acute and late toxicities following radiotherapy have been reported in patients with pre-existing connective tissue diseases, such as systemic lupus and scleroderma. Behcet's disease (BD) is a relapsing multisystem connective tissue disease characterized by vasculitis in the mucocutaneous, ocular, gastrointestinal, respiratory, neurologic, urogenital, articular, and cardiovascular systems. Data concerning the relationship between radiotherapy toxicity and BD are limited in the literature. Here, we report a case of lung cancer treated with radiotherapy (60 Gy) in a patient with BD. No severe radiation-induced toxicity was observed. Radiation-induced toxicity in patients with BD has also been discussed.

  • Background: Inflammation is a host-defensive innate immune response to protect the body from pathogenic agents and danger signals induced by cellular changes. Although inflammation is a host-defense mechanism, chronic inflammation is considered a major risk factor for the development of a variety of inflammatory autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatic diseases. Rheumatic diseases are systemic inflammatory and degenerative diseases that primarily affect connective tissues and are characterized by severe chronic inflammation and degeneration of connective tissues. Ginseng and its bioactive ingredients, genocides, have been demonstrated to have antiinflammatory activity and pharmacological effects on various rheumatic diseases by inhibiting the expression and production of inflammatory mediators. Methods: Literature in this review was searched in a PubMed site of National Center for Biotechnology Information. Results: The studies reporting the preventive and therapeutic effects of ginseng and ginsenosides on the pathogenesis of rheumatic diseases were discussed and summarized. Conclusion: Ginseng and ginsenosides play an ameliorative role on rheumatic diseases, and this review provides new insights into ginseng and ginsenosides as promising agents to prevent and treat rheumatic diseases.

  • Local anesthetic (LA) injection outside the sheath in epineural or paraneural connective tissue is considered safe practice among regional anesthesiologists. There is limited evidence as to whether neurological complications occur if LA is injected inside the sheath (subepineural - intraneural). We performed ultrasound guided injections at the level of undivided sciatic nerve in four amputated lower limbs. In two specimens, LA was injected in epineural connective tissue (paraneural tissue) and in another two specimens by penetrating the outer nerve sheath (hyperechoic epineurium). Ultrasonography demonstrated an increase in the size of nerve and macroscopic findings revealed fascicular tracings with sub-epineural injections. Limbs were sent for histological analysis in formalin containers. Pathologist performed the analysis which demonstrated an intact perineurium and a breach in the epineurium. We conclude that sub-epineural injections are unsafe and injection should be done in paraneural tissue to ensure safety and avoid unwanted neurological sequelae after the block.

  • Recently the esthetic demands of clinicians and patients made the surgeon try to regenerate bone defects and gingival tissue after extraction. For that, many surgical methods were used and socket preservation have been evaluated simple, effective and good prognosis in the implant placement. Bone grafting was one of the methods for socket preservation. This study was to evaluate the histologic view of the effects on healing of the extraction sockets when deproteinized bovine bone mineral and tetracycline coated deproteinized bovine bone mineral was implanted 1. In control group, at 4 weeks after implantation, the extraction sockets were filled with connective tissue. And after 8 weeks, osteoblasts were observed in newly formed trabecular among the fibrous connective tissue in the extraction sockets. 2. In experimental 1 group, there was connective tissue and new bone trabecular around newly formed woven bone at 4 weeks. And many osteoblasts were observed in various direction at 8 weeks. 3. In experimental 2 group, there was a lot of new bone made around the bone powder after 4 weeks, and the thicker bone trabecular, lamellar bone and irregular osteoblasts arrangement were observed at 8 weeks. From the results of this study, tetracycline coated BBP would be better than the other groups in the lamellar bone formation and be faster in the bone formation rate.

  • Purpose: Anterior ridge defect after tooth extraction results in unfavorable appearance. Ridge augmentation procedures should be preceded by careful surgical-prosthetic treatment planning, and various techniques can be used in anterior ridge augmentation. Materials and Methods: Three patients showed deformed ridges after tooth extraction. Three different techniques ; onlay-interpositional connective tissue graft; bovine hydroxyapatite graft with free connective tissue graft; bovine hydroxyapatite graft with resorbable collagen membrane following free connective tissue graft; were used for anterior ridge augmentation. Result: Soft tissue graft can be used in small amount of ridge defect, hard tissue graft combined with soft tissue graft can be used in large amount of ridge defect. After ridge augmentation, about three months of healing period, augmented tissue was stabilized. The final restoration was initiated after this healing period, and the tissue form was maintained stable. Conclusion: Careful diagnosis and surgical-prosthetic treatment planning with joint consultation prior to surgery should be performed in order to attain an optimal esthetic results.
