  • Carbon, Aramid, Boron and Glass fibers are used as fibrous materials to promote structural bearing strength. Of these fiber types, carbon fiber is the most commonly used material, and is characterized by having a one-way direction, which is strengthened by tensile strength due to the attached direction only, while other types of fibers are two-way. Therefore, when applied in the field, the attachment direction of fiber is a very important factor. However, when fiber direction is not mentioned in the design drawing, there sometimes is no improvement in structural strength, as the fiber is being installed by a site engineer or workers who lack structural knowledge. The purpose of this study was to propose an optimal direction of carbon fiber through a comparison & analysis of reinforcing efficiency with reinforced experimental columns that used carbon fibers in each of the inclined, horizontal and vertical directions. According to the results, horizontal direction in the reinforced column was improved by 153.43%, but vertical direction was 104.61% only, and it was understood this was due to increased tensile strength along the fiber direction. For this reason, it is necessary to include information regarding fiber direction in design and site management.

  • South Korea has recently witnessed an increasing number of seismic events, leading to a surge in studies focusing on seismic earth pressures, as well as the attributes of geological layers and ground where foundations are established. Consequently, earthquake-resistant design has become imperative to ensure the safety of subterranean structures. The slurry wall method, due to its superior wall rigidity, excellent water resistance, and minimal noise and vibration, is often employed in constructing high-rise buildings in urban areas. However, given the separation between panels that constitute the wall, slurry walls possess limited resistance to seismic loads in the longitudinal direction. As a solution, several studies have probed into the possibility of interconnecting slurry wall panels to augment their seismic performance. In this research, we developed and evaluated a method for linking slurry wall panels using mechanical joints, including concrete-confined steel pipes and headed bars, through mock-up tests. We also assessed the constructability of the suggested method and compared it with other analogous methods. Any challenges identified during the mock-up test were discussed to guide future research in resolving them. The results of this study aid in enhancing the seismic performance of slurry walls through the development of an interconnected panel method. Further research can build on these findings to address the identified issues and improve the efficacy and reliability of the proposed method.

  • This study was conducted to determine the effect of floor type of finishing building and increasing market weight of finishing Pigs on Performance, carcass traits and pork quality. Four hundred and forty-four finishing pigs were confined and administered with different floor type(concrete slat and bedded with sawdust) and increasing market weight(110kg to 130kg) of finishing building. The result obtained from this study were summarized as follows; 1. There was no significant difference between the floor type of finishing building in the body weight gain, feed intake and gain per feed. And also increasing market weight of finishing pigs was not affected the performance of finishing pigs. 2. Increasing market weight of finishing pigs affect the carcass yield. The market weight at 130kg showed more amount of each cut of carcass, especially the belly portion was higher, but backfat thickness was not different. 3. Carcass traits did not show any significant difference due to the difference of market weight of finishing pig and floor type of finishing building. 4. There was no significant difference in the chemical compositions and meat color of pork loin between the floor type of finishing building and increasing market weight of finishing pigs.

  • In this research pig house facilities what are 3,029 houses hold over 1000 heads were surveyed by scale and province. Full-time farms hold over 1000 heads breed total 7,229,892 heads. And farms breed 2,386.9 heads averagely. Pig houses were constructed august 1995 averagely. Each of houses have $3,017.2\;m^2$ scale. The construction type of pig house was winch-curtain type 77.2% which was most popular, confined type 51.3%, litter type 7.4% and loft type 4.6%. The winch-curtain type was popular than windowless type in pig farms which have 1,000-1,999 heads. But pig house construction type which have more than over 10,000 heads was windowless type more than winch-curtain type. Manure removing type was slurry 72.3% and scraper 38.5% in farms which have 1,000-1,999 heads. Manure removing type was slurry 83.3% in farms which have over 10,000 heads. Proportion of roof type of pig house was slate 51.2%, panel 46.1%. But in middle or small farms, slate type was only 25.0%. Proportion of wall type of pig house was 41.9%, block 21.9%, concrete 7.6%, winch-curtain 6.3%, and bnck 5.9%. Ventilation type of pig house was natural winch 46.1%, mechanical windowless 69.8% and mixed type 53.1%. So, mechanical windowless type was popular than natural winch type. Especially the farm scale is bigger the mechanical widowless type was more. Utilization period of pig house was 8.1 years about automatic feeder, 8.3 years about waterer, 8.2 years about electric facilities and 9.0 years about floor material. Thus, almost of facilities were used at least 8 years.
