  • This paper describes the electric field distribution of high voltage polymer bushing with inner field shaper designs. The field control can be achieved by means of the designs of such internal field shaper. But high electric stress occurred between field shaper and central conductor by the closely space. In accordance, the floating and ring shield designs was importance for electric stress grading at critical parts of the bushing. The bushing has a central conductor, and internal ring shield or floating shield, gaps are formed between field shaper and ring shield. Accordance equipotential lines extend through gaps. Maxwell 2D simulator based on the boundary element method was also introduced in order to verify the reliability of the polymer bushing.

  • In our country most of transmission lines are double-circuit lines. In these lines, the combining method of increasing conductor height and installation of passive shield-loop to mitigate magnetic field near a transmission line, is a good and feasible method. The basic principle of passive shield loop is that the field from the current induced in the shield loop conductors counteracts the field from the phase conductors. This method applied to domestic transmission lines to meet the magnetic field level, 100, 30, 10 and 4 mG, respectively. In each magnetic field level, the minimum conductor height and passive loop height are presented for the implementation of the practical design.

  • This paper suggests an improved technique to establish the modeling regarding steady and transient state on three phase-in one cryostat type HTS(High Temperature Superconducting) cable. The proposed modeling is established using EMTP/ATPDraw and TACS and MODELS provided by that. It has higher accuracy than the conventional method, as the actual HTS cable is modelled. Steady and transient state analysis performed by EMTP/ATPDraw calculate the current of conductor, shield and former, respectively. In case of the transient state modeled quench state occurred by a single line-to-ground fault, current of conductor shield and former are also calculated, respectively. Especially, various fault resistances and angles are considered to improve the reliability during transient state analysis. Analysis results reveal that the proposed technique improves the accuracy of modeling.

  • High temperature superconducting(HTS) power cable system consists of HTS cable, termination and cryogenic system. And the HTS cable consists of the former, HTS phase conductor, electric insulation, HTS shield and cryostat. Taking the advantage of HTS shield, the cold dielectric has been adopted. The phase conductor and the shield have been designed to minimize the AC loss below 1W/m/phase. The former has been designed to transport the fault current of 25kA, at fault condition. This paper describes the design process of 22.9kV HTS cable considering AC losses at normal state and the stability at fault condition.

  • In order to evaluate the soundness of 10 year service-aged XLPE-insulated 22.9 kV underground distribution cables, semiconductive shields have been characterized. The edge of insulation near the insulation shield shows a drastic decrease of OIT. Impurities such as Ca, Mg, Fe, Cu were detected in both conductor and insulation shields. Their concentrations at the insulation shield are much higher than those at the strand shield. All these facts suggest that the edge of insulation near the insulation shield is degraded considerably, which might be attributed to the oxidation reaction of insulation by a large amount of impurities in the insulation shield.

  • This paper describes a study on the design of compact polymer bushing with inner control shield. In the bushing, a high electric stress occurred between field shaper and central conductor by the closely space. Also coaxial cylindrical shield has a great height along the axis to control an electric field. Consequently, all the potentials are raised axially along the field shaper and electric stress is concentrated on a part of the surface of the FRP tube near the upper end of the field shaper. In accordance, the field control can be achieved by means of the designs of such inner control shields. The floating and ring shield designs was decreased electric field concentration at critical parts of the bushing. The shield gaps is formed between field shaper and ring shield. Accordance equipotential lines extend through gaps. As a result, the resulting electrical stress are thus reduced in the range $17{\sim}23%$ in the bushing with floating and ring shield designs. Maxwell 2D simulator based on the boundary element method was also introduced in order to verify the reliability of the polymer bushing. The optimized design uses internal elements for electric stress grading at critical parts of the bushing.

  • In this study reduction effects of magnetic field were analyzed using multi-conductor method in analysis of shield. The method can be effective in the analysis because of reducing the amount of allocated memory and computing time. And also the method can be applicable to analysis of the induced current distributions and skin effect in shield. The results of the analysis are presented.

  • The HTS power cable is composed of 2 layers for transmission and 1 layer for shield. The superconducting tapes of transmission layers and shield layer are wound in a cylindrical shape with a winding pitch. The radius of cylinder and the number of superconducting tapes are decided considering to the transmission current capacity and the critical current of superconducting tapes. The increasement of transmission current capacity will increase in volume of HTS cable system. In this paper, the composition method of supercondcuting power cable using the multi-cable is presented. The coated conductor tape can be wound on the smaller cylinder because it has the smaller critical bending diameter than the BSCCO tape. A small-scale cable was composed using the coated conductor tapes and a multi-cable is composed using a small-scale cable considering to transmission current capacity. Even increase of transmission current capacity, this method has advantage that the HTS superconducting power cable can be composed easily. The 22.9 kV and 154 kV superconducting power cable was composed using the presented method.

  • This paper describes an optimal design method which is applied a weighted least square (WLS) method for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) system. An optimal design approach is presented for a homogeneity superconducting magnet with the superconducting active shield especially for a magnetic resonance imaging system. The WLS is used to obtain the optimal configurations using the least amount and minimum volume of conductor, exhibiting the smallest level of field inhomogeneity and resulting in the least level of stray field. The proposed model is used to design a multiple-shield configuration for a 1.5 T MRI magnet. The field homogeneity is required less than 5 gauss stray field contour within 4m axially and 3m radially from origin. The designed magnet with the actively magnetic shielding coil out of main coils is analyzed by FEM and theoretical analysis method, investigated the field homogeneity.
