  • This paper analyzes the noise sources of an LED lighting module with TRIAC dimming control and proposes an improved EMI filter design for the reduction of conducted noise emission. TRIAC dimming invokes problems of input oscillation and capacitor overvoltage at the lighting module. The proposed double LC filter reduces high noise level from the circuit. The experimental and simulation results show that this approach can make significant contributions to the reduction of conducted noise emission from an LED lighting module with TRIAC dimming control.

  • The system stability must be ensured from the switching noise due to the power conversion efficiency and power conversion system miniaturization. Therefore, countermeasures to reduce switching noise during power conversion are essential. Thus, in the previous paper, we constructed the DC / DC Buck Converter circuit using MPQ4432 driver of MPS, and simulated the switching noise characteristics which occurs when the components are arranged differently in the 4 - layer PCB circuit structure with reference plane. In this paper, two different simulated circuits are fabricated and the characteristics of the conducted emission and the radiated emission are analyzed in the same way as the simulation. As a result, it was confirmed that the Conducted Emission characteristic was reduced by 2 ~ 9dB in the low frequency band and 6 ~ 7dB in the high frequency band depending on the configuration of the current return path. And the radiated emission characteristic is reduced by 9 dB. Conducted emission simulation results show that 6 ~ 7dB in the low frequency range and 2 ~ 9dB in the measurement result are somewhat different. In the high frequency band, it is confirmed that the experimental and simulation results are about 7dB. And Radiated Emission confirmed 12dB decrease in simulation, but confirmed decrease of 9dB in measurement result. It is confirmed that there is a slight difference in the amount of reduction, but the design of the power conversion circuit improves the noise characteristics according to the configuration of the current return path.

  • As electronic systems become smaller and more portable, the need for power conversion continues to increase. In addition, system stability must be ensured from switching noise due to power conversion efficiency and power conversion system miniaturization. Therefore, countermeasures to reduce switching noise during power conversion are essential. In this paper, a DC/DC buck converter circuit is constructed, and the characteristics of switching noise generated when changing the parts layout in a four-layer printed circuit board (PCB) structure with a reference plane are compared and analyzed. In addition, switching noise characteristics were compared and analyzed through simulations when the parts layout was different in a two-layer PCB structure from which the reference planes were removed. As a result, it was confirmed that the radiated emissions characteristic is reduced by 12dB and the conducted emissions characteristic decreased by 7dB to 8dB, according to the current return path in the four-layer PCB structure. Thus, it was confirmed that the noise characteristics can be improved according to the configuration of the current return path when the power conversion circuit is designed.

  • This paper investigates the reduction of RE(Radiated Emission) noise in a high power LED module circuit using PWM(Pulse Width Module) switching controller circuit. Poorly designed LED lighting module can experience the RE and CE(Conducted Emission) noise problem. This paper propose the reduction of noise source and improvement of EMI filter design in a high power LED lighting module. The experimental and simulation results showed that reduce the RE noise level effectively.

  • The main noise sources in SMPS are divided into three parts: the switching devices, the rectifiers in secondary part, the output transformer and choke coil. In this paper we performed the noise analysis with respect to bobbin type and winding method, and designed an optimized transformer focusing on the transformer. For the comparison. we measured four parameters for each cases, including EMI conducted emission noise. signal from the switching devices, output ripple/noise voltage and leakage current. As the result, the transformer using a vertically-typed bobbin and a parallel, sandwich winding method showed the best performance. We confirmed that the SMPS developed in this research is satisfied with the IEC 601-1 international standard for the medical instrumentation. by testing its electrical characteristics and safety.

  • Environmental noise at high intensities directly affects human health by causing hearing loss. Although scientific evidence currently is not conclusive, noise is suspected of causing or aggravating other diseases. Environmental noise indirectly affects human welfare by interfering with sleep, thought, and conversation. Noise emission from motorized vehicle includes power unit noise, tire/pavement noise and aerodynamic noise. Among them, tire/pavement noise is noise emission from interaction of the tire and road surface when the vehicle cruises over the surface of pavement. In general, portland cement concrete(PCC) pavement is known to create more noise than asphaltic surfaces though it has the advantage of durability and superior surface friction. However, the results of preliminary laboratory test showed exposed aggregate concrete(EAC) has and effect on reducing tire/pavement noise. Based on the laboratory test. pilot construction of exposed aggregate concrete pavement was completed and series of in-situ measurements were conducted for noise analysis including the pass-by noise measurement and the close-proximity method. Conclusively, it is expected that tire/pavement noise represent significant portion of noise levels at higher frequencies and it would be reduced on special textures of pavement such as exposed aggregate concrete.

  • Satellite generates a complex electromagnetic noise by conducted and radiated coupling effect of the various electrical instruments. This noise may cause serious problems on the satellite system. To minimize the electromagnetic coupling effects and maintain the system safety margin, system noise reduction technique should be applied from the beginning of the system design. The COMS system is evaluated by measuring the conducted noise on system electrical power leads at PSR(Power Supply Regulator) and verifying a 6 dB system safety margin under the complex noise environment with current injection. The radiated noise due to the complex transmit antenna configuration is evaluated by integrating all unit-level RE measurement results, and the RF compatibility between spacecraft and launch vehicle is analyzed with the above estimations. This paper describes the COMS EMC compatibility analysis with respect to each unit level EMC test results, and RF compatibility analysis between spacecraft and launch vehicle. The analyzed results will be reflected on FM(Flight Model) EMC test.

  • The aluminum soundproofing panel used to the traffic noise reduction will judge with the material to improve because the CO2 emission is greater than other soundproofing panel such as plastic soundproofing panel. Also, if the air-passing soundproofing panel which can endure the fast wind velocity will be developed, it judged that it can reached to the target of low CO2 traffic technology development using the reduction of material cost and the lower consumption of steel. The objective of this study is to improve the soundproofing panel and to develop the air-passing soundproofing panel for the replacement of aluminum sound proofing panel which is more emit CO2 than other soundproofing panel. And, we tried to develop the reduction technology of CO2 emission through the development of air-passing soundproofing panel. At first, the flow and noise simulation were conducted for the purpose of the calculation of wind pressure on soundproofing wall and noise exposure level on receiver points according to the open ratio of air-passing soundproofing panel. And the 1st and 2nd mockup of air-passing soundproofing panel were made, and the design load test were conducted for these mockup.

  • This paper presents conducted emission noise measurement from electronic equipment in frequency range of 1 MHz up to 30 MHz by small loop antenna. Small loop antenna measurement method can measure common-mode (CM) and differential-mode (DM) component of the noise on a pair of power line at the same time. The CM and DM can be measured separately. The theory of this measurement method is introduced and analyzed. The measured results were compared with the conventional measurement by Line Impedance Stabilization Network (LISN) and result a good trend between those methods.

  • There were overwhelming high-frequency electromagnetic noises in 200kW-class hybrid electric vehicle(HEV) although EMC control strategy had been applied to cope with the electromagnetic noises during the development of HEV. This paper investigates the characteristics of the conducted and radiated emission noises, the source and path of noises, and the effects of EMI on the electronics. Finally the design concept of noise control is proposed.
