  • Recently, due to the increase in high-rise apartment and residential-commercial complex buildings, a number of mega-class mass concrete members with a thickness of 3m or more have been designed. As the construction of mass concrete such as transfer beam and slab is increasing not only in foundation members but also in special structures, research on reducing temperature cracks in mass concrete is being conducted. To review temperature cracks in mass concrete, it is important to review the thermal properties of concrete, but it is difficult to use an adiabatic temperature rise tester in the field, so the semi-adiabatic temperature rise test is mainly used. In this study, to improve the accuracy of the results of concrete heat characteristics gained by the semi-adiabatic temperature rise test, various factors affecting heat loss compensation and methods were reviewed and presented.

  • As architectures have recently become high-risers and megastructured, stable high strength products have been ensured. Accordingly, use of precast concrete accouplement has been increased in order to facilitate air compression and rationalize construction. Since not only external heating but also internal temperature rise caused by the accumulation of cement hydration heat in manufacturing process, precast concrete members with large cross-section used for high-rise mega-structure's columns and beams may exhibit different temperature history compared to the precast concrete members for wall and sub-floor with relatively small cross-sections. Therefore, this study aims to elucidate the characteristics of temperature history of mass concrete members cast with high-strength concrete for precast concrete application. In this study, large cross-sectional precast concrete mock-up, unit cement quantity, and temperature histories in manufacturing precast concrete member under different curing condition were inclusively investigated.

  • The purpose of this study is to present a basic data about the workability of high strength concrete to apply to a field of construction work. The main parameters are as follows; environmental temperature, elapsed time and the use of mineral admixture or not under the same mixing proportions. From the result, Adding amounts of superplasticizer to get a target slump were different in the respective temperature condition. Slump loss according to elapsed time was influenced by environmental temperature. the amount of superplasticizer and the slump loss were decreased by using mineral admixture(garnet powder) and by making concrete under lower temperature.

  • The main purpose of this study is to estimate the internal temperature of RC beam under fire. For this purpose, the finite difference method was used. In the previous studies, the structural behavior of fire damaged RC beams was investigated through experiments. The result was concluded that The high temperature affects the properties of concrete such as the elastic modulus, the compressive strength. The internal temperature Estimation of the concrete is helpful for understanding the structural behavior of fire damaged RC beams. Especially, high strength concrete has more spalling than normal strength one. So, this study is performed analysis of internal temperature of RC beam considering spalling.

  • This study is carried out (1) checking the development of compressive strength of high flowing concrete at early age, changing water-binder ratio, curing temperature, and type of aggregate, and (2) suggesting basic date that helping cost and schedule plan in future construction. As the result of this study, we find that high curing temperature is effective for the development of compressive strength of concrete at early age on the condition of each water-binder ratio, and after making the compressive prediction formula related to the curing temperature by maturity, the result of the formular is similar to the temperature-compressive strength-age measured data

  • In this study, the estimation method of adiabatic temperature rise of concrete was developed by using hydration heat generation of mineral compounds of clinker and pozzolans. Specific heat considered the effects of mix proportion and temperature was calculated with experimental data. The adiabatic temperature rise calculated by developed method were compared with experiments in which many types of cement and admixtures were used. As the results of this study, it was found that the developed method could calculate adiabatic temperature rise of concrete accurately without the experiment.

  • When concrete exposed to low temperatures, the free water in the concrete is freeze. If the pressure developed exceeds the tensile strength of the concrete, the cavity will dilate and rupture. It cause expansion and cracking, scaling and crumbling of the concrete. In this study, to prevent such damage, five different types of form were used. Concrete was poured into each form, cured for 7 days at temperature of -10℃. To measure the temperature history, two thermocouples were installed on each of the inside and outside. And to measure the compressive strength, collected core from each form. The maturity is formed by temperature history. The maturity and the compressive strength has a correlation.

  • Our country has experienced variations in temperature as belong to the area of the continental climate that shows four significant seasons. These occur quality of construction. As the hydration of cement processes, the strength of concrete is developed. In order to improve the quality of concrete, various conditions including temperature and humidity should be maintained appropriately and concrete itself should be cured sufficiently This paper is basic experiment for estimating influence of strength by seasonal mock-up concrete's heat of hydration and estimate relationship of compressive strength development by curing temperature. And show basic document as quality control.

  • The current study assumed a condition in which concrete curing was not completed correctly in the winter, in order to analyze the effect of changes in early low-temperatures in early-frost damage depth. As a result, lower external temperature early on after depositing the concrete greatly reduced the temperature in the upper parts of the concrete, and it delayed the time during which the concrete temperature restored. In addition, for early-frost damages, lower early temperature increased the expansion of frozen water, which in turn relaxes the concrete structures and increases the absorption rate, ultimately extending the depth of early-frost damage.

  • Some sections of concrete highway pavements have been viewed with great concern by highway officials and engineers due to the severe cracking and failure problems. This is mainly due to the traffic loads in addition to temperature variations between top and bottom of concrete slab, which cause the concrete slab to curl up and down depending on the thermal gradient, respectively. Subsequently, a major consideration was given to the derivation of stiffness matrix and equivalent nodal loads due to the uniform gravity load, temperature and shrinkage of concrete. And the structural behavior of concrete highway pavement due to the temperature variations throughout the nations has been emphasized.
