  • Computer-based methods have often been used in the structural analysis. But, regardless of the progress in the technique of structural analysis, there are inevitable limitations in consideration of the material and eometric nonlinearity and prediction of failure loads. Model analysis of concrete structure can supplement this kind of limitations to reasonably predict behavior of the structure. Similitude requirement in the reinforced concrete structure is often hard to be secured because of peculiar uncertainty of concrete. In this study, small scale model of subway box structure was constructed using strength model and results of model of subway box structure was constructed using strength model and results of model test and computer-based analysis were compared.

  • The subway concrete box structure can`t establish expansion joint because of animal power delivery of the subway rail. In this case, As increase of structure volume, it is subjected to cause temperature crack. The temperature crack due to the heat of hydration classified a nonstructural crack. but it has a bad effect on durability of concrete structures. especially, in case of a subway concrete box structure, when a water-proof facilities is beaked on an outer-wall, the water leakage occurs through a penetration crack generated from a wall of the concrete structure too. This paper, for the subway concrete box structure, examined a condition of temperature crack occurrence by a heat of hydration concerned external temperature from analysing by a three dimensional finite element method.

  • In underground reinforced concrete structures, such as drainage structure, water and chloride ion penetrated into concrete through the cracks of concrete and its permeable property, cause the corrosion of reinforcing steel bar, which accelerates the expansive cracks and deterioration of concrete. It is necessary to control those deterioration of underground structure by improving its permeability and durability through the reasonable solutions in design, construction and materials. In the present study, fly ash concrete, which has good material properties in long-term period, was compared and studied with plain concrete using ordinary portland cement in terms of fundamental mechanical properties, permeability, drying shrinkage and durability. Also, the mix design and field test of low permeable concrete using fly ash were performed. From this study, fly ash concrete can control the penetration of water and chloride ion effectively by forming dense micro-structure of concrete. Therefore, fly ash concrete may increase the long-term function, performance and serviceability of underground structures.

진동형 히트 파이프를 이용한 하계 매스 콘크리트의 수화열 냉각에 관한 실험적 고찰 (An Experimental Study on Cooling of Hydration Heat of Mass Concrete Structure using Pulsating Heat Pipe in Summer Season)

  • In process of reinforced concrete (RC) box structure. the heat of hydration may cause serious thermal cracking. In order to eliminate hydration heat of mass concrete. this paper reports results of hydration heat control in mass concrete structure using the pulsating heat pipe. There were three RC box molds($1.2{\times}l.8{\times}2.4m^3$) which shows a difference as compared with each other. One was not equipped with pulsating heat pipe. The others were equipped with pulsating heat pipe. All of them were cooled with natural air convection. The pulsating heat pipe was composed of serpentine type copper pipe with 10 turns (outer diameter: 4mm. inner diameter: 2.8mm). The working fluid was R-22 and its charging ratio was 40% by volume. The conditions such as the number of turns. the length and the pitch of the pulsating heat pipe and the size of concrete structure were changed. Based on these experiments, it was confirmed that this construction method using pulsating heat pipe was effective to remove hydration heat of mass concrete structure and thus it was possible to prevent harmful thermal crack and construction Period and costs of concrete structure would be cut down.

  • The concrete structures designed and constructed by conventional design concept based on structural performance consideration show sometimes serious durability problem when the structures are exposed to aggressive environment. Because present design system focuses on the structure safety and considers durability indirectly by the concrete mix design and cover depth, the durability of concrete structure cannot be ensured. As the first step to develope the durability design for concrete structure, durability index which represents internal concrete resistance and environment index which represents external environmental exposure are derived quantitatively. In the next step, the durability design system is developed by checking durability limit state with computed two indexes under service life condition by considering of the reliability of structure. Finally, the proposed system is verified with a model problem.

  • Concrete structures move wholly with concrete and rebar, so they endure external force, but recently the embedded rebar in concrete has been corroded by environmental, physical and chemical factors, the embedded rebar corrosion influences concrete structure to deteriorate structure capacity. To revaluate effect to deterioration of concrete structure according to corrosion of rebar, the researcher mostly examined into corrosion rebar and complex relation of concrete. In that there are flexural strength deterioration of corrosion concrete structure and the bond strength of concrete. But It has not sufficiently studied about physical characteristic of corrosion rebar itself. In this study I will compare specification of rebar through corrosion experiment with corrosion ratio of rebar according to diameter and revaluate. And will investigate the effect to strength characteristic of rebar according to corrosion ratio.

  • A reinforced concrete structure is complex structure that works as one body with bonding role of steel bar and concrete. The bonding action between steel bar and concrete makes possible the compound structure. The transmission of mutual strength of the steel bar with concrete in structure is determined by the bonding characteristic of steel bar and concrete surface. But the efficiency of bonding characteristic of steel bar is Questionable by the corrosion cause by the delay construction term, the wrong management, etc. So this study investigate bonding characteristic of reinforced concrete using pull-out test method which steel bar removed rust and the principal variables of this study are concrete compression strength and the degree of corrosion. The result showed that bonding strength tend to increase when removed rust of steel bar whereas it tend to decrease when not removed rust.

  • This study concerned the quantification of environmental aggressiveness of concrete structure building up and applied to design of concrete structure. Only the content of carbon dioxide evacuated in the process of fabricating concrete structure was taken as an environmental load and various parameters, for example, material production, transportation, building-up, destruction and reuse were considered. Also, the life span of a concrete structure was taken into account in evaluating the carbon dioxide evolution. Consequently a single equation for the environmental load was obtained, which were subsequently used to assess the effect of high strength/durable concrete structures.

  • At the green roof on the concrete structure, root penetration can be the most problem to water leakage. Root occur cracks due to penetrate to concrete which have porous organization by itself. Crack on the concrete structure would be constantly shrinks and expands, it occur to water leakage and decrease durability of concrete structure. Therefore, in this paper, the result of the root penetration test for waterproofing which protect concrete structure from the water leakage or other environment conditions would be apply to understand the reason of root penetration.
